IDW's series of adaptations of landmark Angel episodes continues with "A Hole in the World," one of the series' most heartbreaking episodes! Adapting both "A Hole in the World" and "Shells," this five-issue mini-series tells the tragic tale of how Illyria came to fight alongside Angel, and at what terrible cost.
Excellent adaptation of the intense tv episode of the same name with all the tragedy of the loss of Fred to the inhabitation of her body to the alien Illyria. Great scripting and art. Very highly recommended.
This is an excellent adaptation of one of the finest episodes of television ever broadcast. It's heart-breaking. The illustrations are very good. Not perfect, because in certain panels, the face just didn't portray the character, but maybe that's just me. If you're a fan of the Angelverse, you'll love this adaptation. It's not just accurate to the episode, it is just as compelling and moving. I highly recommend it.
While I took minor issue with Smile Time, this was a fantastic adaptation of the episode of the same name. Like Smile Time, it didn't veer from what was already shown, no new insights, but I forgive it totally because the story is so heartbreakingly brilliant. In any form, I am affected.
It's another direct translation of a script, which is usually a bore, but the underlying quality of the script and the developed characters elevates it.
Heartbreakingly beautiful, unforgettable episode, saying goodbye to Fred and meeting Illyria for the first time, told in gorgeous comic book form. It also includes Shells, and a short story about the first of Illyria's adventures.
This trade paperback is simply the Angel episode of the same name but in comic form - and boy oh boy is it worth reading if you're a fan of the show and specifically this episode! It translates very well and the art is gorgeous, every character depicted to near perfection. I would truly read every Angel episode translated to comic form if they would all be as well done as this one. Highly recommended for fans of the show that want to enjoy it in a different medium! It's heartbreakingly good.
