A gritty, realistic mystery from the acclaimed author of Blood is Thicker and Where Death Lies. A quaint Irish inn shelters a grave secret--and a cunning killer--as Dublin solicitor James Fleming finds himself at the center of yet another deadly case, when he travels to Cromlech Lodge to draw up a will for the owner, who's been accused of murder.
Lots of Gaelic atmosphere. Lots of twists and turns. A detective who grows - sometimes painfully - along with the story. Characters who are likable and for whom I want to root. And plenty of foreign Irish jargon to look up - and some Irish sorrow for good measure.
I’d never heard of Ann C. Fallon before, but now I’m going back to the beginning and read all the James Fleming books.
I guess I am used to Cozy mysteries...and this is not one of them....but well-written, and in an intriguing location...so it was okay! Not enough for me to read books 1 & 2 (this is the third in a series, but can be read as a stand-alone...)
I really enjoyed this novel - it's old, written in 1992 but goes way back in Ireland to the 1800's --- the characters were interesting, information was well written, I liked the characters and liked how the book ended! Good Read --- will look for the rest in the series at a local Library Used Book Sale!!!!
James Fleming travels to Kevin Conolon's lodge in Sligo to help him draft a will. When James arrives a guest falls down the stairs and lands on him dead. An interesting mystery.
