“How are you feeling?”
“I am depressed. I am just trying to hold things together. Trying to stop myself from falling apart.”
“Have you guys had a talk?”
“Not yet, but I am planning to. Need to analyse the black box. See what went wrong. Whether it is just me, or whether the universe is involved. Kind of like a kill Hitler scenario.”
“Eh?”
“Maybe the son or daughter that I am supposed to sire, will become the next Hitler, and so the universe is trying to prevent that from happening. The universe wants to correct that anomaly. Maybe my bloodline is an infection that the universe is trying to get rid of, and has engaged the WBCs of fate to ensure that it happens.”
“That is messed up.”
“I am thinking of becoming a Vulcan.”
“How will that help?”
“So that I can stop feeling things. You know, purge all emotions, remove distractions and dedicate myself to the pursuit of knowledge.”
“Tathastu. What are you up to now? Digging into a tub of chocolate ice cream?”
“Still in office. Will give in to the ice cream once I reach home. Maybe put on something high octane like Bad Boys For Life. Will will help me distract the mind and dull the pain.”
Shinu needs a vacation. He has recently endured the break-up from a relationship for which he was not emotionally ready. As all supportive parents do, or should do when that happens, Shinu’s birth givers have decided to take him on a short weekend trip to the peaceful town of Odei. They are hoping that it will help take his mind off of things. Shinu’s uncle and aunt are accompanying them as well.
But odd things come to Shinu’s notice once they arrive in Odei. The locals seem submissive and docile, perpetually in a state of happiness. There are unfamiliar star patterns in the sky. The Sun has disappeared and a black hole has taken its place. And a strange cult that worships an unknown entity has made its presence known.
As Shinu continues dealing with his emotions and begins to investigate the anomalies, he makes some startling discoveries.
