In this fascinating and enlightening new book, Dr. Andrew G. Hodges conducts an imaginary interview with the most influential person in history, Jesus Christ. A psychologist and a Christian, Dr. Hodges draws on his professional background and a profound knowledge of Scripture to "interview" Jesus on a fascinating variety of the most provocative and challenging topics from his life and teachings.
Why did God allow evil in the first place?
What was it like when you first realized who you really were?
How did your family react when you performed your first miracle?
Why were so many unable to believe in you even then ?
Why did you have to die on the cross?
What really happened at the resurrection?
Jesus' candid answers to these and many other questions give readers added insight and a clearer understanding of His timeless message. From this "first-hand" account of Jesus Christ's remarkable life emerges a truly human portrait of Jesus-both as man and God. Moving and unforgettable, Jesus : An Interview Across Time adds a powerful, surprising new dimension to the greatest story every told.
I enjoyed the book. The author did an excellent job of helping readers understand the humanity of Jesus. I appreciate how Jesus was portrayed as Someone who relied on God’s Word to know His Father and to know His Father’s will for Him. He learned about His mission and role from the Scriptures. The description of the time period from Gethsemane through His death on the cross was a word picture of how much Jesus suffered as he took our sins and endured the sense of separation from His Father.
There were some portions of the interview that are not in the gospel accounts. That was disappointing. But overall, the book is an attractive portrait of Jesus.
Interesting and convincing book on the events of Christ answering questions as if being interviewed in our time. It explore in depth his many parables and other teachings
Rated: A Wonderful imaginative narrative based on Scripture and the life of Jesus Christ as foretold in the Hebrew Bible and revealed in the New Testament. Dr. Hodges insights are amazing and his writing flows so well. It is a true harmony of the Gospels. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to "be there" watching the greatest story being told.
What a powerful book! Hodges does an exceptional job of integrating the statements of scripture, both Old an New Testaments, and the emotion of humans into a dramatic presentation of an interview with the resurrected Jesus. Inspiring, engaging, provoking - a tour-de-force into the psyche of the incarnate Jesus Christ.
When did Jesus know He was the Messiah, and how did He find out? Did He get into fist fights as a kid? Jesus: An Interview Across Time has those answers and other plausible speculations. Full review on my podcast: http://jesusinbooks.com/how-jesus-fou...
The 'idea' that Jesus could be interviewed by a psychiatrist seems so far out there, but in fact it works very well. The scriptures quoted shows a depth of knowledge that Jesus would have definitely had, for one thing. The other is the effect of his thinking: of his Messiahship; his Temptations; his Disciples. After reading this book, I felt I understood Jesus better, and I believe that was the whole point of the exercise. Well done!
I have often thought what it would be like to interview Jesus as he was with the disciples. Hodges captures this carefully with great insight into the person of Christ.
