Once a handsome prince rescued a beautiful princess.... Well, that was what Rowena Goodman's children believed. And they soon decided that Keir Delahunty was the prince sent to rescue their mother. But Rowena had trouble believing that Keir, who had left her waiting for him all those years ago, and who could have any woman his heart desired, wanted her.
Keir insisted he loved Rowena and the children, and that they were essential to his future happiness. To prove his good intentions he set out to slay all Rowena's dragons. That left Rowena with no excuses and one secret to share with Keir...and it concerned her oldest child.
Emma Darcy is the pseudonym created by the married writing team of Wendy (1940-2020) and Frank Brennan (1936-1995). Their life journey has taken as many twists and turns as the characters in their stories, whose international popularity has resulted in over sixty-million book sales. With more than a hundred titles, Emma Darcy appeared regularly on the Waldenbooks bestseller lists in the U.S.A. and in the Nielson BookScan Top 100 chart in the U.K.
Wendy was born 28 November 1940 in Australia. Her sister was the novelist Maureen Mary (Miranda Lee). Her father was a country school teacher and brilliant sportsman. Her mother was a talented dressmaker. She obtained an Honours degree in Latin and initially worked as a high school English/French teacher. She married Frank Brennan, an Australian businessman born in 1936. She changed careers to computer programming before marriage and motherhood settled her into a community life. She was reputedly the first woman computer programmer in the southern hemisphere.
As voracious readers, the step to writing their own books seemed a natural progression and the challenge of creating exciting stories was soon highly addictive. They were published since 1983. In 1993, for the Emma Darcy pseudonym's 10th anniversary, they created the "Emma Darcy Award Contest" to encourage authors to finish their manuscripts. After the death of Frank Brennan in 1995, Wendy wrotes books on her own. She lived in a beachside property on the central coast of New South Wales, and liked to travel extensively to research settings and increase her experience of places and people.
Wendy Brennan passed away on December 21, 2020. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and sister, writer Miranda Lee.
Re Their Wedding Day - Emma Darcy does book five of the This Time, Forever Series and brings us a second chance romance wrapped in a cloud of pink sparkly fluff.
If you ever have the great good fortune to meet ED, she will tell you, as she tells us in later books, that some of her favorite stories are fairy tales. In a very poignant author's note at the beginning of this one, ED talks about her late husband Frank and how much they shared.
She especially notes that Frank shared a lot of her writing and creative story ideas, but as Frank himself said, life has to go on and he wanted her to keep going. So even tho ED was very scared when she finished this, she parceled it off to London with a hope and prayer and lo, it was accepted.
This book is a major moment in the HPlandia career of Emma Darcy. It is her first entirely solo effort in HP voyaging. You will notice a difference in her style going forward, but that difference in no way detracts from the intensity or the originality of her story lines. There are still lots of riveting ED's to come, but we are going to start with ED's favorite. A fairy tale.
The book opens with our Princess h learning that she is married to a slime toad. The h is in the parking lot of her slime toad husband's office, bracing herself to confront his lover, the sewer sludge gulping wicked witch.
The h is 28, has three children and has been married for seven years to the slime toad. The prior evening he announced he was dumping her and the kids for his hot office piece of totty and that the h's son, who is not his bio child, can now consider himself fatherless.
Responsibility is too hard, marriage is too much work and he just wants his lance of lust to be exquisitely catered to by the siren charms of a sludge gulper gutter crawler who looks like a tin foil Tart Queen.
The h is hoping to assess the OW and maybe run her off, or at least appeal to her sense of decency in taking a father away from his children. The h is all about family and she feels fathers are important. Unfortunately this situation is even more delicate, the slime toad's boss and the owner of the company is the h's former lover and the father of her son.
The h's one night with the man was on the eve of a devastating car accident. Her beloved older brother and her parent's favorite child talked his BFF into letting him drive his sports car. The BFF and the h were very close and in love and ready to shout it from the rooftops to all.
Then the h's brother wrecked the BFF's car and died. The BFF was with him at the time and was so injured it was thought he would be crippled for life and he was sent the States, for the HP gold standard medical treatment protocol.
The h's parents were livid with the h turned up preggers. They blamed the BFF for letting the brother drive and the BFF's parents for buying their son the car.
The h refused to terminate the baby as her now totally alien parents demanded and waited patiently for the BFF to write or call, so they could reunite and celebrate the progeny of their love.
But the BFF never called and the h was packed off to an aunt in Queensland. Her parents pretty much disowned her and after four years the h kissed the slime toad and then married him. He claimed he wanted to be a husband and father and live the happy family dream. Seven years on, the dream has obviously turned to dust and muck.
So the h goes into the slime toad's building and she meets her former lover. He offers his executive office and calls the sludge gulper witch to conference with the h. It doesn't take long for the h to figure out two things.
First, the sludge gulper really wanted the former lover boss and two, the sludge gulper thinks as long as she has a firm grip on the slime toads lance, he will do whatever she wants and she is planning to run with that.
The sludge gulper is dismissed and the ex lover reveals that he is more interested in rekindling the flame with the h and proving that he is not a slime toad.
(Tho to be fair, he does offer to fake a play on the sludge gulper and get her to dump the slime toad in the name of showing his caring for the h. However he makes a really good point that does she really want a slime toad back when she knows what he has been dipping in?)
The h has the very good sense to refuse the offer of manipulating the sludge gulper, it would just make everything worse. She also rejects the H's offer to be seen with her, flaunting a fake affair in front of the slime toad to make him think he is being out classed and spurring the slime toad's jealousy into making him return to the family fold.
Then the H makes his pitch to be the h's Prince in Shining Armor and sweep her and her children off in his very nice Mercedes and take them away from all of this. But the h is still reeling in hurt and can't see the former lover for the Prince in Shinning Armor that he is. Don't worry tho, ED and the H have a plan to change all that.
The h goes home and late that night has another nasty confrontation with the slime toad. The slime toad threatens that if the h gets involved with the H, he will demand that the house be sold and the h and his children will be homeless, the h's son can shift for himself, he is done with him.
There is also a big fight when the slime toad figures out that the h's son is the H's child and the h sags in defeat when more financial threats are made if she doesn't leave off with the H, the slime toad's boss, cause it is making the slime toad look bad. Blackmail his hinted at too, as the H obviously doesn't know that he is a father.
The h has more than one Prince in Shinning Armor tho. Her son overhears the whole argument and he is a genuinely nice young man. He will never be an HP H, cause he is just too nurturing. He goes and introduces himself to the H and announces that the H is his dad.
This is what the H has been waiting for, not only does he get a handsome son bonus, it is time to armor up and go slay some dragons. The Prince doesn't think it is good battle strategy to kick the slime toad back into the sub sewer he climbed out of quite yet, but he can go comfort his princess instead.
The h's son also manages to explain to his little sisters, who are VERY interested in princesses and fairy tales, that the slime toad got enchanted by a wicked witch and won't be coming back. That is okay tho, cause the Prince has arrived to rescue them and life is going to be great for everybody.
The h is very leery, but this Prince has got it all goin' on.
Trust funds for the heir Prince and the two little Princesses in training are set up and the H also gives the h her very own title to the castle. Since the castle in question is a magnificent river preserve estate with several bedrooms, a huge custom kitchen and an indoor pool and spa, there aren't any complaints about it.
(For moral purposes the h is very careful to explain that any home filled with love is a castle. Prince and Princesses her children may be, but they aren't going to be spoilt about it.)
The Prince H even goes to the slime toad and in a move worthy of Machiavelli, carefully explains that the H knows the slime toad has a lot of lancing to do and the H will be happy to take over the care and provisioning of the slime toad's children, including the tiny princesses.
The slime toad falls over his feet to agree and his bulbous tongue is positively drooling as the H explains that since the slime toad let his sludge witch ransack the h's house, the h and co will be moving in with him and the former family home can be sold right away, with the slime toad collection half the sale money.
Then the H goes back to the h and explains that it took 18 months of surgery and treatment before he could walk again. He sent one letter to the h and promised he would return as soon as he could. But when he was recovered, he got a picture of the h with a baby and some man and the h's parent's told the H that she was married.
The h was not married, her parents were just so bitter and hated the H for letting their son drive his sports car that they wanted to destroy all contact. The h finally realizes that her parents were effectively gone when her brother was and that the Prince H is totally for real and that they really do have Very True Love Forever.
Then the Prince outdoes himself, in the words of another immortal Prince, he solemnly vows to the h that he would die for her and the h is so overwhelmed with the True Love she has been carrying around all these years that she throws herself into his arms and a True Love Purple Passion Reunion casts them adrift on the Transcendent Golden Shores of Ecstasy.
The h decides that as the Prince is rich and the slime toad and the sludge witch were run off when the Princesses in Training rightfully ran away to avoid being contaminated by the sludge witch's nasty spells and refused to see them anymore, she can give the H the gift of a baby all his very own and that launches us into the unicorn, kittens and puppies dancing on rainbows HEA.
The last part is 16 months later. The H and h are getting married in a fairy tale wedding that would make a Disney Princess green with envy and there is a new baby brother. The slime toad and sludge witch have faded into the sewers of the Australian Gold Coast, it did not take the H too long to make the slime toad uncomfortable enough to crawl off and the Heir Prince and Princesses in Training have decided to name the Prince H officially as "Dad".
Everyone is happy and united in one big, toad free, happy family and we close the cover on a pink sparkly, sweeter than that triple fudge cookie I had while reading this, rainbow filled very Happy HEA.
This one is OTT in sugary sweet schmaltz. I enjoyed every single second of it. I save this for gloomy days or days when nothing seems to work or go right. It is way out there on the fairy tale romance scale and Disney can't even do it any better. But sometimes you just want fluffy cotton candy in your HPlandia outings and this is definitely the story to deliver it.

This is one where I had trouble suspending my disbelief, thus the two stars. It's heartfelt and the hero is almost too good to be true - so no problems there. But there are too many discordant notes for me to feel good about this one.
Story opens with the heroine, mother of three, confronting the OW who her husband of 8 years has just left her for. OW is OTT evil.
So yeah - the adultery taints the H/hs romance in my eyes. And while I'm glad the hero has all kinds of money and the heroine doesn't have to worry about finances, I wonder if this romance would have worked so smoothly if the hero didn't have the wherewithal to move the heroine and kids out of her house right away.
I really wish the evil hubby would have realized what he was giving up - he treated his kids like dirt. I'm glad they weren't affected by it in the story, but that was the biggest fantasy of all in my mind.
This book made me a little sad at first, because I kind of idealize adoption and I hate reading about people (even fictional ones) who forsake their adopted children. On the other hand, the ex-husband is almost equally lousy to his biological children, and the hero is the perfect loving stepfather, so I guess it balances out.
It's a sweet story, if a little over-the-top fairy-tale... and how hypocritical am I, that I think it's a bit too much of a fantasy and yet I'm still annoyed that we don't see the bad husband/father live to regret his foolish choice? So I guess the problem is it's not my fantasy. Anyway, if you're looking for a happy Christmas with an absolutely perfect hero, here's your book.
Note for those who can't deal with any form of cheating: the heroine is technically still married when they get together.
I'm surprised this book is rated so low. Yes, I agree that it's disappointing that POS hubby and evil OW don't get their comeuppance, but the story was actually quite enjoyable. This made for a refreshing change from the usual HP overused tropes, i.e. millionaire/billionaire out for revenge; heroine's really a virgin but hero thinks she's a slut; weak amnesia plot devices, and the list goes on. But really, have you ever known anyone with amnesia?
Here, the hero (who was actually the one wronged) is compassionate, willing to forgive and clearly recognizes the value of the heroine's love. He steps up to every challenge ready to fight for her, and her children.
This was a little too heavy on the fairytale aspect, but hey isn't that why we read category romances? This is definitely one of ED's better books. I highly recommend.
This was different. Boogenhagen and a couple of other reviewers have a different take on this, but I found it very sad.
The hero is deserving of much, much better, and the heroine better make him happy. Or else!
Plot: Heroine is going to brave the evil OW her stupid husband is having an affair with, so brava for that. Doesn't go well as how do you shame a slithering snake into better behavior? The fact that the heroine has three children (yes three) means nothing to the evil OW especially since the oldest isn't even the husband's.
Turns out the father is the H, the weak husband's employer. A ONS that was followed by a car accident that killed the h's brother and cripples the H resulted in her son. The H goes to the States for month and years of surgery and rehabilitation. The heroine's absolutely horrible parents do everything they can to ruin her life. If they weren't dead I would suspect them of introducing the OW to the h's weak husband.
Destroyed letters, lies, and a secret baby keep the couple apart. Okay, okay, the heroine was a teenager, but she never let the H know about his son. Secret babies don't bother me because most of these Greek/Italian etc...HP jackasses are scary and need to prove themselves, but not here. Poor H.
The H finally gets his girl, but she comes married and with two extra children he is thrilled to take on. I agree with Boogenhagen, he really is a prince among men along with a castle. I just hope the heroine lives up to princess potential.
Points off for little to no retribution for the idiot husband and his new evil sidepiece.
The h is a 28 year old married mother of three. One day her husband of seven years informs her he's leaving her for another woman. The h, Rowena goes to his place of work to see the OW but before she gets into the building she bumps into her husband's boss, Kier, the first love of her life and the father of her oldest child. Kier doesn't know he has a child, Rowena thought he had abandoned her. She'd only been 17 and had been misled by her parents who hated Kier. Kier had never stopped loving her and this is the beginning of the renewal of their romance. There is no hope for reconciliation of her marriage, and Rowena and the children quickly accept Kier as the Prince who has come to slay all their dragons and love them all unconditionally. I assume the low ratings of this book are due to the infidelity issues. However, this actually is a very sweet romance.
It had most of the themes I don't care much for with these - pre-existing children, past relationship, not much drama between the couples, too perfect - but somehow it still worked. This book was so sweet my blood sugar almost rose reading it, but it wasn't cloying somehow. Magic it must be. I was a bit dismay by the lead gal's acceptance of handouts and greed and the hero is too good to be true, but it must have fit my mood today. The kids were sweet too, especially the boy. Romance at it's unrealistic finest, but still a treat to read on certain days.
So this is one where the h, Rowena, attempts to fight for her cheating hubby. Yeah, if he had been the H you know he would have been asking her why she didn’t fight for him. Well….he’s NOT the H so he didn’t want Rowena to fight for him. This guy aside from cheating was supposedly a good father, but as you read further in the book and see his actions your left thinking that it’s mighty convenient the way this “good father” bows out of the picture AND you get to see what a nasty POW he is. Granted the OW isn’t much better, but seriously would have been nice to see him realize what he lost…completely.
I liked that Keir truly loved Rowena and he even loved her from afar when he realized that her hubby worked for him. He attempted to help her put her marriage back together but as he said, “You want a husband that needs to be rescued from another woman?” Um…NO WAY!! Rowena and Keir were separated my some manipulations from the past and conveniently they are not there to see the consequences of their actions. Keir is willing to fight, sacrifice and forgive to be w/ Rowena and even though she places a few tests in his path he passes w/ flying colors.
Some drawback of the story are: the “conveniences” that are littered throughout, the time line of finishing off things, the sicky sweet fairy tale like quality, and the most glaring one – her quickly getting over her loser hubby! But hey other than that and my wanting to see hubby suffer for his choices and freaking taking that dang lamp, it wasn’t a bad read just a little slow. Felt like there were some good angst qualities there but they weren’t fully realized for me.
I dare say many of us have that fantasy when we're going through a particularly tough time, to once again meet the one who got away and be swept away by their undying love and patience. This is basically a long form of that little fantasy. I liked it just fine, but everything was too easy, the book could've used a bit more friction. I had read this once before but had forgotten pretty much all of it. I expect to forget it just as easily This time around. I recommend this book to the people looking for HP'S heroines who have multiple kids.
I started a Emma Darcy's Novels marathon last week and ended with five of her books today, there are more in library but well, let's see if I can complete with ARC'S by this month.
Okay so I will start with the names of the five books I read, 1) Last Stop Marriage 2) Marriage and Mischief 3) The Father of her child 4) Their wedding day 5) Craving Jamie,
I rank 'Their Wedding Day' as first,at the zenith. It was just that amazing. It was a completely different story from all those similar Harlequin's. I especially loved the story, Emma Darcy amazes me with her enchanting and enrapturing stories all the time. There was a time while reading this book when I couldn't stop crying. I wanted to just get inside the book and give the protagonist a tight hug. I also lost much needed sleep, woke up till four A.M to complete it. Loved the end!
It was delicious!
Five awesome stars.
I recommend it to every Michelle Reid and Lynne Graham's fan.
Not the best romance I've ever read. It was all rather expected. Young woman meets young man, they have a relationship, they go their separate ways because of circumstances fate throws their way, but the young woman finds out she's pregnant with said young man's child. Now years have passed and the girl is a woman...she has married another man and now has 3 children total. Her husband is leaving her for his secretary and guess who the husband's boss is? None other than the father of the woman's oldest child. Things happen, they find their way back to one another, and they all live HEA. Same old, same old. No surprises really, and nothing out of the ordinary. Wasn't completely horrible. The decent editing and grammar, and the smooth pace of the writing saved it from a one star rating.
“Rowena…I want a happy ending. The only person who can stop that happening is you. All I ask is that you give it a chance.”
Emma Darcy’s “Dear Reader” note at the start of this book had me in tears and she kept me emotional throughout the book.
Rowena and Keir’s story is full of heartbreak, pain and betrayal. There’s a cheating husband, parental betrayal, a secret child and a long lost love. Throughout it all, Keir was the light in the darkness. I adore this character. His strength, kindness, patience, and unwavering love for Rowena makes you hopeful that you will find a guy like this one.
I highly recommend this book. It is a Superlative Read!
4½ Stars ~ Gotta love a Dragon Slayer! While the angst factor is on the low key in this Presents, the charm and the marvelous characters make this a compelling read. Ms Darcy has crafted a delightful fairytale romance with a HEA that is worthy of a happy sigh.
This romance is different from earlier books penned by the husband / wife writing team, Emma Darcy. The author shares with us her inspiration and hopes for this romance, in her Dear Reader Letter. I'm thankful for this letter as it enhanced my reading pleasure.
I gave it two stars only because the hero is so sweet and romantic and like a brick of trust and strength for the heroine
I think the hero deserved a better woman than the heroine. She kept asking herself why he had not made more effort to come see her after the accident he had, but she had made no effort herself. She never made an effort to tell that poor man she was pregnant of his child, so he missed the first 10 years of the life of his son.
She then went on to marry someone else and let her husband adopt the hero’s son who never knew he had a son. She stayed married with him for 10 years and would still have been married to him if he had not cheated on her and said he wanted out of the marriage.
She even wanted to fight for her marriage after she found out about the cheating and she confronted the mistress. And all the time the hero was waiting for her in the background.
And she was hopelessly financially dependent on men. She asked the hero for money for their son to prove that the hero is reliable.
I did not like the heroine at all. It would be good if he dropped her and found himself a better woman. What an awful, nasty heroine. The hero deserves better.

Masih enggak ngerti kenapa banyak yang nge-rate buku ini satu atau dua bintang aja. I mean, seriously.
I find this book very refreshing and simple. Seglimpet juga selesai, lumayan kok buat nunggu angkot atau dibaca pas perjalanan.
Looking forward to read Emma Darcy's other book. :)
Qué HORROR de novela. Disgusting plot, characters, everything.
This started out with the husband having an affair with his colleague. The wife confronts the other woman. In the end he moves out. And his boss steps in. He happens to be a long time friend who had lost touch. Can he be the man she remembers? What about his child? Will he want revenge for not being told about him? This was a fast read for me.
Emma Darcy delivers a thoroughly enjoyable read — one that carries the unmistakable flavour of a 90s romance, complete with its nostalgic expressions, family-centred drama, and a surprising touch of spice. It feels like stepping back into that era in the best possible way.
The story’s strongest element is its family dynamism, especially the dichotomy between the heroine’s estranged husband — who abandoned the family after an affair with a colleague — and the heroine’s rekindled connection with her former love, now her ex-husband’s boss. One of the standout moments is when the heroine’s firstborn son appears at the boss’s workplace and announces himself as his son. That revelation was a genuine high point in the storytelling — dramatic, emotional, and perfectly timed.
The children, though occasionally placed in situations or dialogue that felt a touch too adult for their ages, are nonetheless charming and distinct. As an author myself, I tend to steer away from involving young characters too deeply in adult conflict; however, Darcy handles it without causing harm to the narrative. Sarah, in particular, is an absolute delight — sweet, sincere, and memorable.
Overall, it’s a warm, dramatic, slightly nostalgic read with compelling relationships and that signature Emma Darcy sparkle. A very good revisit to classic romance storytelling.
Sweet. This was a sweet story with a prince-like hero, a heroine who had problems (but, the prince chased those away), a disinterested ex-husband, and an evil OW.
Yes, some parts of this did feel too good to be true especially the fact that the hero solved their financial problems in a minute and that the children accepted him so soon. But, this fairytale-like story was heartwarming and I liked the romance. I really liked that the hero and heroine got their happy ending.
Not, horrible, but not good either. The future ex husband and his new girlfriend, aka the wicked witch, are caricatures, stereotypes of everything bad in a fairytale—almost to the point of humorous.
One of my all time favorites. Keir is as good a romance hero as you will ever meet. Definitely a prince. My only objection is that jerk phil and his home wrecking girl friend adrianna got off free. I have read it many times and very much recommend it
It's a pretty good book, although too fast for my taste. I mean, she separates one day and two days later she's dating someone else. Keir did a very good move there, I must admit. But she was the one cheated on, so I'm glad she's happy.
Great story but there were a few things left up in the air that I would've liked to have seen sorted out better.....................The husband being the main thing and his bitch girlfriend.
Phil blows up his wife’s life with divorce. Rowena confronts the other woman and restarts a friendship with Kier. Read to see if she gets her true happy ever after
