Carolyn Keene is a writer pen name that was used by many different people- both men and women- over the years. The company that was the creator of the Nancy Drew series, the Stratemeyer Syndicate, hired a variety of writers. For Nancy Drew, the writers used the pseudonym Carolyn Keene to assure anonymity of the creator.

Edna and Harriet Stratemeyer inherited the company from their father Edward Stratemeyer. Edna contributed 10 plot outlines before passing the reins to her sister Harriet. It was Mildred Benson (aka: Mildred A. Wirt), who breathed such a feisty spirit into Nancy's character. Mildred wrote 23 of the original 30 Nancy Drew Mystery Stories®, including the first three. It was her characterization that helped make Nancy an instant hit. The Stratemeyer Syndicate's devotion to the series over the years under the reins of Harriet Stratemeyer Adams helped to keep the series alive and on store shelves for each succeeding generation of girls and boys. In 1959, Harriet, along with several writers, began a 25-year project to revise the earlier Carolyn Keene novels. The Nancy Drew books were condensed, racial stereotypes were removed, and the language was updated. In a few cases, outdated plots were completely rewritten.

Other writers of Nancy Drew volumes include Harriet herself, she wrote most of the series after Mildred quit writing for the Syndicate and in 1959 began a revision of the first 34 texts. The role of the writer of "Carolyn Keene" passed temporarily to Walter Karig who wrote three novels during the Great Depression. Also contributing to Nancy Drew's prolific existence were Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrod, Priscilla Doll, Charles Strong, Alma Sasse, Wilhelmina Rankin, George Waller Jr., and Margaret Scherf.

Synopsis: Nancy and her BFFs Bess and George have gotten jobs helping with a wedding planning business! It's the month of June, which means it's nuptial season; an old historic site not too far from River Heights is hosting four weddings in one weekend! Just before the first wedding, someone sees what appears to be a ghost; later on, one couple's wedding gifts nearly get stolen, and another bride's dress is shredded! Who could be behind all of this? It's up to the famed teenage sleuth to find out!

The Good: As usual, this was an intense mystery with plenty of suspense, along with lots of twists and turns.

The Bad: Nothing, really.

Content Concerns:
Sex:
Mention of a honeymoon in a "secret place"; nothing worse than that.
Nudity: None.
Language: Name-calling, at worst.
Violence: More than one mishap involves someone getting hurt.
Drugs:
Frightening/Intense Scenes: Emotional intensity;

Well here's a fun fact--you can finish a Nancy Drew novel in under three hours :) Well yea like I said snow day I read for fun and had this oldie but goodie borrowed based on cover alone just to relive my reading days from my youth and Nancy Drew, her bestie Bess and Bess's cousin George are back at it solving crimes by accident and still remaining friends..In this episode the trio are working with a wedding planner on a busy weekend with four weddings booked in a mansion style house that has all kinds of mishaps and drama..From day one there are creepy omens from missing grooms, lipstick smeared wedding dresses, sightings of ghosts, car tinkering, slashed dresses, broken gazebos and just everything that Nancy Drew thrives on as she steps in and of course solves the case, gets her flirt on oh yea and even sensitively tackles racial issues as she delicately explains why African Americans jump the broom as a wedding tradition--go girl..The mystery is very Scooby Doo like with jealous family sabotaging successful ventures for their own greed and selfishness but like Scooby the mystery has its little twists to make it satisfying..as I get older I see the characters are a little wooden and cliche but what can you expect from young adult mystery from the 90s..Nancy Drew started way in the sixties but this #136 is an older one from ye old 1997..either way it was a great entertaining diversion from my studies but ahem back to them..thanks Nancy for helping me pass the time with a cute mystery with that wedding nostalgia and remind me why I was such an avid reader of this series when young..I do think my favorite Nancy Drew is the Candlestick Murders as I remember it being really creepy, must try and find that to reread but for now will be recommending this to a young reader as a throwback that won't disappoint and will show you true alone time fun with a good book..Love me some Nancy Drew!

I loved this little cozy mystery. Although I was able to figure out who the culprits were before they were revealed, I enjoyed reading it. It gave the vibes of one of those old timey shows and it kinda reminded me of Scooby Doo. Super cute

Rereading this was like watching an old movie for the first time in years, where all the lines come back to you before the actors say them. The perfect comfort read.

Boring, too much like others where either Bess or George have a job and Nancy and the other cousin join her to solve the mystery that happened to pop up. Last quarter is exciting and the ending was unusual.

Nancy Drew and the Wedding Day Mystery!

First off, I love the Nancy Drew mystery books, there always one of the perfect books that will not only keep you interested but will also make you wonder.

I would give this book 5 stars out of 5 stars.
Because the whole time I was reading this book, my mind was asking me tons of questions. Like ‘’will Nancy end up finding this person?’’
or many more.

I would also have to say my favorite character in this book would have to be Nancy. Because throughout the book Nancy works really hard to try to solve the mystery. She also has some great adventures, and meets a lot of different people throughout the book.

This book would fall under mystery. So if you’re a person that likes lots of suspense, and some very humorous situations than this book would be perfect for you. And another thing is you will end up seeing many, many different characters. And I know in some parts of the book I was also very confused. But once you learn to keep track and know one person from another you’ll be safe.

So well I’d have to say this book is basically about a wedding hall.
And there are many weddings that place there. So what happens is in some weird, way each wedding has somehow ended terribly. Like something goes wrong in each wedding.

So now it’s up to Nancy and her two best friends to help solve this strange wedding Day mystery.

My love of reading started when i was young, and it gives me immense pleasure to provide books to Spread the Word Nevada, an organization that passes them on to children in the community. They are a terrific organization supporting an important cause. If your local I encourage you to check them out. For those living further a field, look in your own community, their may already be a similar program in place. And if not, you can always help start one.

Myself, I go out on the weekends and
shop thrift store and bulk book lots to rescue books and donate them. Sometimes I'll find a book I remember reading when I was young and will read it again before passing it on.

I don't rate these books using my normal scale, instead I give most of them three stars. This isn't a Criticism of the book, simply my way of rating them as good for children.

This is another book in the huge Nancy Drew series. This book is also about a wedding, but with a little twist. A wedding company is hosting four weddings in one weekend, and Nancy is helping out. They are all being held at a old mansion, and a lot of different things happen to try ruining the weddings such as a thief, a saboteur, a ghost, and a few other unwanted guests. Nancy tries to do damage control and save all the weddings. I enjoyed this book because there were a few different mysteries within the book, but it was all in the same story line. Again, this is a book for older ages of 8-12, and is a good chapter book for them.

Another great novel written by ghost writer Carolyn Keene. Although one of the newer editions, written in 1997, this character is still a classic. The constant twists and turns of the novel are unexpected and well written. This plot of the book is realistic and seems relatable, as long as you're and adult. The timeless characters go through countless adventures and expect new ones coming their way soon! Although the older novels are very enjoyable, so are the newly written ones. I hope to complete the series soon!
