This story is about one of the greatest baseball players Derek Jeter, who played in the major leagues for more than 17 years. He was drafted in high school by the New York Yankees but he was undecided if he wanted to go to college in Michigan first. The yankees gave him a contract he couldn't refuse so he choose to play baseball and took college classes during the off season.
His big break came in 1995 when he was called up from the minors to fill in for the injured yankee who was playing shortstop. Jeter would be the first rookie to start the season at shortstop for nearly 35 years.
Jeter was the all star and world series mvp in 2000 and was the first player to accomplish both in the same year. He was also the yankees player of the year 5 times and joins several other baseball legends. Off the baseball field he established Turn 2 Foundation for teens against substance abuse.
Review:I liked the book because it showed all of Jeter's stats and I would recommend it to baseball fans or players. Jeter's shows that hard work and practice pays off and to never give up. I can relate to this from my tennis matches that even if i'm down I never give up.

One of the books I read during the first quarter was Derek Jeter: Daring to Dream by Stew Thornley. The book is about Derek Jeter and all that he has accomplished all his life as a baseball player. He played in the majors for 20 seasons.
What was good about the book was that it was very descriptive and it stated all he went through to pursue his dream. I also liked how it talked about his teammates and his relationship with them and how they worked together. They talked about all of his awards that he won as a pro and his life before playing the team that he rooted for as a child. What wasn’t so good about the book was that they didn’t talk about his life outside of baseball and how it went and what he did. I also didn’t like that they didn’t talk about his enemies and the people who did like him.
I give the book 4 stars because I believe they left some stuff out. I recommend this book to people who are interested in learned great baseball players and what they did to earn their respect on the field and off the field. I really liked this book and I hope you do too!

I thought that this book was pretty good. I really enjoy reading about great sports players. This book was filled with facts, stats ,and ,records about his acheivments. He has played for the Yankeeys for a long time and has won multiple world series. He is an outstanding player on and off of the field. He has given away lots of money to charities. He is one of my favorite baseball players. i want you to read this bokk and tell me what you think .
