Presents a close-up portrait of star Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter, describing his youth, his sports accomplishments, record-breaking statistics, and achievements off the playing field. Original.
The story was well talked about the person involved Derek Jeter. It gave many facts and stories about Derek’s life. I liked the story because it talked about Derek’s life as in high school and his MLB career in the best way it could have been said. What happened throughout the story was that at first it talked about Derek’s high school career. It talked about how at first he got drafted to the MLB as a Yankee. Then he went through Minor League first before he became a MLB player. It talked about how Derek would soon to figure out that baseball is a game of failure and you have to fail over and over for yourself and your team to succeed. Derek develops throughout the story by getting taught that in baseball you have to fail more and more times to succeed. He was raised by his two parents, Charles and Dorothy Jeter that failing is a part of life. Derek later on took this advice and started to succeed. He would take the times he would fail and turn that into many successful moments. Derek was a wonderful person on and off the field. Derek definitely develops the theme of in life you have to fail many more times than you succeed to be a successful person in life. He developed throughout the story by accepting failure into his life and using that to succeed off of. Derek at first did not know you had to fail over and over to be a successful person. Then over the time throughout coaches knowledge and his parents guidance he accepted that you had to fail to be successful. That was what really helped Derek be the baseball player that he was and also the person that he is today.
