The Mate Games: Pestilence #2

Claimed by the Shifters

Rate this book
Claimed by the Shifters is book two in The Mate Games: Pestilence.

Warning: The Mate Games: Pestilence is a spicy why-choose series that is sure to set your...heart...on fire. If you’re not a fan of grumpy dukes with a penchant for pain, purple demons with fancy body parts, nosy hackers with boundary issues, angsty wolf shifters who like to share, sword crossing, and plenty of group activities, this one’s not for you. But if it is...welcome back to The Mate Games, we’ve been waiting for you.

❗️❗️Cliffhanger
❗️❗️I would recommend reading the prequel (Promised to the Night) before reading this book to get a better idea of Rosie and Gavin’s relationship.

4.5 stars

After everything Rosie sacrificed to get away from the Donoghue, Gavin still managed to find her, and he’s determined to take her back home where she can be his wife and his Duchess and remain at his side. While Rosie is trying to make him see reason and explain that she has mates in Aurora Spring, the murders continue to pile up, and one of her mates is even suspected of being responsible. In the depths of Hell, we can also see that Pestilence is brewing something and that another shot at the Apocalypse might be coming soon, now that War failed her attempt.

Asher’s face paled. “You made a deal with a fucking demon? When?”
“I . . . It was the night I sent you those texts.”
“You drunk dialed a demon?”

The relationships between Rosie, Ben, Remi, and Asher are developing, and there is no coming back now. They realized that even though it seems impossible, they are all Rosie’s mates, and they have to learn to navigate this situation. That also means that some, if not all, of Rosie’s secrets are forced to be revealed in this book, and the poor guys were not ready for everything that came with Rosie.
The worst thing I ever did was fall in love with my wife.

Gavin is now part of the series. I was not a fan of him at all at first, but he is slowly, very slowly, growing up on me I think… I am honestly not sure yet what I think about him. He started as a conceited, pompous jerk, hell-bent on taking Rosie back and getting rid of her other mates, and then seemed to have a complete change of mind and decided to stay with Rosie in Aurora Spring because she wouldn’t be happy if he took her away. It shows that he cares for her, but the change of plan also seemed a little sudden.

Remi was amazing in this book when it came to Rosie and her happiness. Even though he wanted nothing to do with Gavin (with good reason), he was always willing to try because he realized quickly that Rosie’s happiness depended on it and he was willing to do anything to ensure she is happy. He is devoted to her and his steady and reassuring presence made me jealous honestly. I want a Remi too!

Ben struggled more with the idea of multiple mates and sharing Rosie, especially with Gavin. The poor man is scarred deeply by his past, and he still struggles when it’s time to deal with his emotions. He is the type that needs to get away for a while to clear his head and work through everything, and while it helps him work through his problems in the end, it also creates some angst and anxiety for Rosie because she knows he is prompt to overreact or flee. There is potential for a good healing journey for Ben, and I hope that with the help of Rosie and the others, he will manage to get there and be happier. That he will be able to see that not everything is black or white.

Asher remains a mystery mostly. We learn more about him and his past in this book, but I think I am left with more questions than answers… It is hinted that he is not 100% human as he thought, and I am full of hypotheses now regarding his ancestry and what abilities he might have. And the final bomb the authors dropped at the very end of the book?! That was just cruel. Poor Asher will not have it easy in the next book.
I like that he was more easygoing in this book. He is still wary of everyone and he is a recluse, but he is more at ease with Rosie and the guys, and he is even starting to be more laid back when he is among the citizens of Aurora Spring.

And finally, there is Pan… I am still not sure how he will fit in this reverse harem situation, because he never interacted with any of the other guys, and he is not the sharing type at all. Also, Rosie made it clear that while she still physically craves him, she wants nothing to do with him anymore. She does not care about him emotionally, it’s only physical between them. As I said in my review of the first book, I do not dislike him as a character, he is intriguing and complex enough to be interesting and somewhat unpredictable, but I do not wish for him to become a part of Rosie’s harem. I don’t see how he could possibly fit in with them.

“Fuck off,” I answered.
“Is that any way to greet one of your bed buddies?” Remington.
I snarled at the phone. “We are not now, nor will we ever be, bed buddies.”
“Aw, that’s a shame, man. You’re gonna miss out on all the puppy piles.”
“I don’t like dogs.”
“You are the definition of a grumpy dick, aren’t you?”

I just love the interactions between the guys once they came to accept the fact that they were all staying because they were all Rosie’s mates. It was similar to the sass we had in the first 2 books of the Mate Game, and I loved it. I want more of it! Especially with Remi’s way to be able to joke about almost anything, and he just takes everything in stride.

As always, there is spicy hot smut in this book, and while I am not a fan of the Dom/Sub dynamic in general (I have nothing against it, I just struggle more to get into the vibe when I read this type of scene), it was well presented, explained, and developed in this book. The fact that Rosie has many mates also means that some smutty moments are more Dom/Sub and even masochist, while others are not (but they’re still very hot moments). I also love that there is a real throuple in this book. I do love a good polyamorous relationship, and we don’t see it often enough in books.

There are a few snippets of Moira, Noah, Kingston, and Sunday too in this book, and I was living for it. Even though I read their series only a few months ago, I still want more of them and I really hope that they will also appear in the next books of this spinoff series.

Better than the first book!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 🙂🥰😎🥹😀
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Duet Narration ✨Full Cast✨

The heroine: Rosalyn Blackthorne (a.k.a. Rosie) - she is a vampire human hybrid, her father was the king of the North American vampires. Though she is basically only an enhanced human since she will never change into a vampire. She married Gavin Donohue, a man from a rival family. Her brother had been engaged to Gavin’s sister, but he had killed her when she betrayed him. So, Rosie married Gavin to save her family. After she found Gavin with a male submissive, she faked her death and ran away to Alaska.

The Heroes: Asher Henry - he is a fantastic hacker, and he lives in the supernatural world, though he is just a human. He was cursed by a witch and lately the physical representation of his curse, a tattoo on his arm, has been growing, and once, lightening spewed from that same arm. He was abandoned at birth and doesn’t know anything about his parents.
Bentley Mercer - he and his twin brother are wolf shifters that own a bar in Alaska. They know that Rosie is their mate, and she moved in with them. Bentley protected his brother when they were children and their parents were murdered, he has had a stutter ever since. He was recently arrested for murder.
Remington Mercer - twin brother to Bentley, they are both alpha wolf shifters. He swings both ways and has a thing with Asher. He knows Rosie is his mate also and wants to protect her. The twins owe a demon named Lilith and must fight in her club whenever she demands.
Pandemic (a.k.a. Pan) - he is a hulking purple demon. He agreed to hide Rosalyn and changed her scent so nobody would find her. His price was her body, and he made her barren. Since she fell for Asher and the twins, she told him she would no longer be willing in bed for him. He and his mother have plans for Rosie and her men.
Gavin - He is a sadist who enjoys both male and female submissive masochists. He is Rosie’s husband and knew she was his fated mate. He wanted her when he agreed to the marriage, but he thought it was only her sweet blood that drew him to her. Though after she supposedly died, he could not get her off his mind and when he saw her through a portal, he went after her and found her.

The Story: Since Gavin found Rosie, what will happen now? Rosie has always had a thing for Gavin, which was partly why she agreed to marry him, but she faked her death and ran, hoping to save her family from his. Plus, what will happen between Pan and Rosie. She was attracted to him and loved the intimate things he did to her. Though she didn’t have feelings for him like she did for Asher, Bentley and Remington. And she had made a deal with him to keep her from being found. However, she was found by Gavin, so is their deal now null and void? Like in the first book, Rosie’s feelings for both Pan and Gavin are a bit of a mystery. She wants both of them, but she doesn’t seem to love them like she does Asher, Remi and Ben.

“A whole other kind of fight night. One with whips and lube. Lots of lube. My kind of party.”

I liked this book better than the first. I got to know the characters much better, and I liked most of them. Though I still didn’t understand Rosie’s relationship with Pan very well. I did, however, get more into the relationship between Pan and his mother Pestilence who wants to restart the apocalypse using Rosie and her loved ones to do it. Still Bentley was my favorite character, with Asher and Remington coming in close behind. I didn’t see the point in having Gavin in the mix at all other than to add a bit of BDSM into the story. Though he was not a likable guy, too arrogant and uppity.

This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via duet narration with a full cast of great narrators. It was narrated by J.F. Harding, Jacob Morgan, James Joseph, John Hartley, Stella Hunter, and Teddy Hamilton. This is a great cast of narrators including some of my favorites. The only voice I didn’t really like was Pan’s voice though I suppose it was a bit over the top because he was a demon. Overall, the narration was terrific.

HELLO MOTHER OF ALL CLIFFHANGERS, HOW DO YOU DO?

I AM GOING TO NEED TO HUG MY EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FROG PLUSHIE AND HAVE A LITTLE SNACK AFTER WHAT THIS BOOK'S ENDING PUT ME THOUGH.

It was so out of nowhere, I was not prepared. HOW WILL IT GET FIXED HOWWWWW??? AND IT BETTER GET FIXED OR ELSE!!!

Other than that, the rest of the book was mostly calm, except of course the steamy scenes. There's an apocalypse brewing in the background and now I'm thinking we're probably going to get two more series after this one? Dear Meg and Kim please don't make me turn out to be wrong.

When the book started I was a bit scared about what Gavin would do and how he'd fit into the whole dynamic, but by the end he's slowly carving a place for himself. I think I'll like him even more in the next book.

The Mercer twins & Asher are still my faves though, a very very slight advantage to the twins, but Asher isn't far behind.

And Pan is kind of getting on my nerves, he really is a BRAT. He keeps acting like Rosie is only his and a toy (which okay, to him she kind of is) and he's so selfish and HAVENT YOU EVER HEARD OF "SHARING IS CARING" PAN? HUH? Of course you haven't. He has some growing up to do.

I noticed that Rosie also hasn't really thought that much about Pan when she's mentioning her mates in this book. Right now I don't mind this because I'm not that fond of him, but if his attitude gets better then hopefully he'll find his own place with Rosie too.

It's definitely funny though, that Pan seemed to realise he belongs to Rosie before she realised it herself.

ANYWAY, it's about that time where I have to thank Kim and Meg for continuing to brighten my days with every Crombie cameo. It's ridiculous how much I love that man. And it's not just Crombie who appeared here, but I won't spoil it.

And as always the audio was perfection, the narrators are putting bits of their soul into these characters and it shows.

*Thank you to the authors for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I feel a little like a broken record when I review each of these books in a series, but it’s just honest and accurate. These books are phenomenal, the audiobooks are beyond spectacular, with characters you will absolutely love, a story that will suck you in, grab on, and never let go, incredible spice that doesn’t quit, and some of the best banter ever bantered (is that a word???). This book picks up right where book one left off, with a very p!ssed vampire duke husband, and Rosie, dear, you have some ‘splaining to do… We also have the complication of Remi having been arrested for the recent rash of deaths that have been plaguing Aurora Springs, and they need to find a way to get him out. And that’s just chapter one.

The pace is definitely picking up, full steam ahead with phase two of the mate games, and Pestilence isn’t holding back the punches. And if you want to know where the spice is in the book - open it up. Seriously, this is one of the h0rniest bunch of supernaturals I think I’ve ever read, they never waste an opportunity to get nekkid, and group activities are most definitely not shied away from here. If spice isn’t your thing, this is definitely NOT the book for you, but if it is, hold on tight, because it is 🔥HOT🔥 in here. And I continue to be glad this is a Why Choose series, because I definitely can’t and don’t want to choose. Rosie is most certainly a lucky girl.

And the banter, did I mention the banter? It’s official, wolf shifters are official the kings of pop culture insults, especially nicknames. But in general, the banter and character interactions in this book are fantastic, with even the side characters fully along for the ride in the best ways possible. And we even get some cameos from Sunday and a couple of her boys, which you gotta love.

But of course, without fail, Kim and Meg maintain their queendom of the cliffhangers by leaving us with not one, but TWO major doozies at the end of this book. Seriously, them expecting us to wait patiently for book three now, well it’s just rude, and most definitely mean. Regardless, in case you couldn’t tell, I absolutely am loving this series, and couldn’t recommend it more, especially in audiobook format.

(audiobook) I have to admit straight up that I don’t love this new series as much as the previous one. But that doesn’t mean that I’m not enjoying it anyway! My main complaint about it is that it focuses way too much on the relationships, and less on the main apocalypse plot.

I won’t lie, the romance part of the story is seriously hot. Think of any kink, it’s probably depicted somewhere in this book, in great details too. At least, it isn’t completely gratuitous as each of those sexy scenes helps with strengthening the relationships between Rosie and her mates, even redefining them sometimes. I really enjoy this aspect. And again, it’s center of the sun hot.

Despite the title pointing out the twin werewolves, each of Rosie’s mates actually has his time under the spotlight. We learn a bit more about Remi and Ben, yes–the tragedy of their childhood, what they do when they come back injured. But we also have hints at Asher’s story, though it brings more questions than answers. Remi and Asher’s relationship develops a lot too. Gavin becomes more open about his feelings. And finally, Pan has a pivotal role.

He’s the one carrying the apocalypse plot element, but it’s more complicated than it seems. His relationship with his mother is at the center of it–especially since she’s the mastermind behind it. And his feelings for Rosie motivate him as much as they get in the way of his schemes.

As a complete fan of the previous series, I was ecstatic to see some cameos here. It wasn’t just fan service, as they play a role in Rosie’s story, and Asher’s too. I won’t even talk about Lilith or Gabriel, as they’re key players in both series.

As for the narration, it was once again a total blast. Each narrator impersonates their character perfectly, and their voices for secondary characters are nice too. It was a bit confusing a couple of times, when characters from the previous series, played by narrators who work on this one too, were together in a scene.

And with that cliffhanger, I can’t wait for the next book.

Quickie

- Series: The mate games: Pestilence #2 (linked to another series by the same authors, directly follows the previous book, and ends on a cliffhanger)
- Hashtags: #paranormal romance #reverse harem #werewolf #vampire #human #demon #new adult #kinks #bisexual #virgin #twins
- Triggers: various kinks, violence and death (off page)
- Main “couple”: Roslyn Blackthorne & (Remington Mercer/Bentley Mercer/Gavin Donoghue/Asher Henry)
- Hotness: 5+++/5
- Romance: 3/5
- + a glorious festival of kinks
- – the main plot progresses too slowly

Oh my word, THIS book!!
Claimed By the Shifter picks up right where Deal With The Demon left off.
There’s so much more unfolding but the more I find out, the more questions I have. There’s still so many secrets untold. I am so desperate to know everything. The world building is just fan freaking tastic!
This cast of men, phew; grumpy, alpha, sweet, possessive, dominant, just so damn delicious I cannot even handle it.
I love seeing the way Rose and her men are bonding more. I also love seeing the relationship development between the guys, even though it’s still rocky at times. Their banter though, it kept me thoroughly entertained.
Holy hot zayum, was this baby panty melting HAWT.
Meg Anne and K. Loraine rocked my world in the craziest, sexiest and wildest of ways with this one!
That ending left me with my jaw scraping the floor and in complete shambles. I kept having to rewind to ensure my ears weren’t deceiving me. I am ravenous for that next book! I need it like yesterday!

That audio!?!! YALL. That audio is absolute MUST LISTEN!! That cast, I cannot get over this cast…Stella Hunter, Teddy Hamilton, J.F. Harding, John Hartley, James Joseph and Jacob Morgan performed as a duet. Chef’s freaking kiss, utter aural perfection!

This second book was AMAZING!!!!! Once again Meg Anne and K. Loraine hit this out of the park.
I love love the guys. Bentley, Asher, Remi and Gavin in that order. I loved their banter with each other and their love for Rosie. Even though at times I felt they were way too good for her.
There were times I felt Rosie was cheating on the guys. Her sneaking off to go see Pan and getting his help AGAIN didn’t sit well with me at all. The guys didn’t deserve that. I also felt her not trusting Asher’s word that he would do everything he could for Bentley was not fair for him. He never gave her any reason not to trust him. After all he gave her her new identity. He kept his word!
Bentley being the "daddy" he is my number 1.
Goodness the chemistry between Remi and Asher is 🥵🥵🔥🔥 and their scenes were Rosie had me fanning myself.
Gavin definitely grew and I was here for it. His aftercare for Rosie was amazing.
I will say he has chemistry with Remi and I wouldn’t mind a scene with those two in the "sexy dungeon" can we get this PLEASE 🙏
Pan, yea still not sold on him at all. And I don’t see myself changing my mind. But knowing these two authors anything is possible.
That ending though 😡😡 Rosie just always putting herself into trouble. What happened to book 1 Rosie? She got a taste of dick and she went straight goofy.
I need the next book ASAP!!.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

*ALC Review* Holy wow!!! Kim Loraine and Meg Anne never cease to amaze with their magical collaboration that is the Mate Games series. The world building is decadent, every single character has incredible depth and dimension, and weaving in nods to their individual works and the fans is *chef’s kiss* brilliance.

I was firmly in camp Mercer by the end of Deal with the Demon. Then Gavin just had to swoop in, with all his glorious dom-ness, and steal my heart. I love them all, but the Duke of Tears has far more to him than meets the eye and it is scrumptious! He is also the target of some seriously next level witty banter throughout this one and I would’ve felt bad for him if I hadn’t been in tears from laughter. This is all thanks to the men; John Hartley, James Joseph, JF Harding, Jacob Morgan, and Teddy Hamilton for absolutely slaying this series. Saving the best for last… our queen, Stella Hunter! I cannot get over how her voice work has consistently leveled up since I started listening a few years ago. OMG, her accents though… *SWOON* I also can’t deny that I have a massive girl crush on Lilith. 🫠

I have so many more notes and want to share them all, but… SPOILERS! Seriously though, you NEEEEEED to get your ears on this one the minute it’s released. Chapter 40 darn near melted my earbuds! Just sayin’. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

And as we’ve all come to expect… this ends on a huge cliffhanger! *shakes fist* HUGE! 🤯😱

To K. Loraine and Meg Anne,

Now although I love and admire you ladies hard work on this series. I need to say something. Why do you torture me so? You guys are turning into the Twisted Sisters (Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti; I enjoy their books as well).

This cliffhanger in this book, all I have to say is WOW. I am messed up over it. You guys got me feeling some type of way. Look I refuse to give spoilers, but DAAAAANNNNNNNGG Sundays’ books didn’t have as brutal as cliffhanger as this one. I mean good lord came out of no where and now my soul is crushed. Thank you and keep up the hard work because I am looking forward to how you ladies are going to make that ending up to me.

Sincerely,
Ashley

As always, Kim and Meg do not disappoint in their writing. This is one of the most entertaining series’ and audio performances I’ve ever listened to. Once you start, you literally can’t stop. I am living for Rosie and her mates. It’s so good and the cliffhanger was brutal. Well on to the next.

Quick Stats:

Format: eBook and Audiobook.

Narrators: 🎙️ Stella Hunter, Teddy Hamilton, Jacob Morgan, J.F. Harding, John Hartley, James Joseph.

Narration Style: 🎧 Full Cast.

Whispersync For Voice Ready? ✅ Yes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Plot: 💬

Rosie thought escaping a vampire husband was her biggest problem. Turns out, being claimed by multiple supernatural mates while dealing with an ancient curse, a vengeful demon, and the chaotic world of the Mate Games makes things way more complicated. As threats close in, she’ll have to decide if she’s ready to embrace her new life… and the men who refuse to let her go.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Narrator Chemistry and About The Main Characters: 🎙️

If you can, LISTEN TO THE AUDIOBOOK. The full cast MAKES this story and audio next level. It’s cinematic, immersive, hilarious, and completely unputdownable. The emotions, the banter, the tension, it’s all amplified The acting is SO GOOOOOOD!

Stella Hunter as Rosalind Blackthorne: Stella’s performance is phenomenal. She captures Rosie’s fire, vulnerability, and sarcasm perfectly along with the British accent that she does so well. Rosie is fierce and she’s done playing by anyone else’s rules. But fate has other ideas.

Teddy Hamilton as Asher: If you love a broody, morally grey hacker with secrets? Teddy brings him to life in the best way. Asher is the hacker with secrets. He has a dark past and an even darker curse hanging over him. He’s protective and unapologetically dangerous, but when it comes to Rosie, he can’t stay away.

Jacob Morgan as Remi (Wolf Twin #1): Jacob is the perfect voice for Remi. His delivery oozes confidence and mischief, making Remi a total scene-stealer. Remi is the cocky, flirtatious wolf shifter. He’s all about charm and mischief, but underneath the bravado is a man who will do anything to keep Rosie safe.

J.F. Harding as Ben (Wolf Twin #2): JF has such a soothing but versatile voice. Ben, he is the more serious, protective twin. JF’s voice gives Ben’s character a quiet intensity that hits just right. While Remi thrives on chaos, Ben is steady, strong, and fiercely protective. He’s the rock Rosie never knew she needed.

John Hartley as Gavin: If regal menace had a voice, it would be John Hartley’s portrayal of Gavin, Rosie's not-so-ex-husband. The vampire Duke of Tears. Gavin is dangerous, calculating, and reluctantly still obsessed with her. John’s voice acting is, no word of a lie, TOP-TIER.

James Joseph as Pan: James makes Pan irresistibly unsettling. Even though he’s the one that makes you think he’s a character you don’t want to root for, James voice just makes you say, “aww but there’s a good side in there somewhere”. Pan is the chaotic, dangerous, and strangely alluring demon. A demon who thrives on making everything worse, or maybe better, depending on your perspective. He’s unpredictable, dangerous, and absolutely not a hero… but maybe he’s not quite the villain either.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Feels:

Laughter: 😂 4/5 – Rosie’s sarcastic "I did not sign up for this" energy + Remi’s flirtiness + Pan’s inner monologues +Gavin’s effort to not have feelings + a small appearance from Kingston and Noah = hilarious moments.

Swooniness: 🫠 5/5 – This is a “why choose” done right. Each love interest brings something different, and the jealousy, tension, and devotion are first class.

Suspense: 🕵️‍♂️ 4.5/5 – So many twists, betrayals, and dangerous magic. You will be stressed (in a good way).

Plot Twists: 🔀 4.5/5 – Just when you think you’ve figured it out, boom, another twist.

Tear Flow Rate: 😭 2/5 – There are certain character backstories that pull on the heartstrings.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sizzle Scale:

Scorching: 🔥 5/5 – This book does not hold back. The tension, the steam, the power struggles? It’s all next level. The spice is dark, intense, and dripping with chemistry, buckle up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Book Bite:

If you love a "why choose" romance, high-stakes supernatural drama, and characters who will ruin your life in the best way, this is your book. IT IS SO ADDICTIVE! And the last page literally had me gasping in shock!!!

Tropes:
✔️ Reverse Harem.
✔️ Fated Mates.
✔️ Enemies to Lovers.
✔️ Dangerous Magic and Curses.
✔️ BDSM.
✔️ Jealousy + Tension = 🔥🔥🔥

ALC Review

Let me paint you a picture... It's January 2023 and there I am making my family spaghetti for dinner while I'm listening to the ending. (Don't worry... headphones are in. No toddlers can hear what's happening in the sexy dungeon.) Anywho, right there as I'm staring into a pot of cooking noodles my whole world is turned upside down. Thank god for the comfort food because I was totally eating my feelings during that meal. Also thankful my hubby doesn't mind the incoherent ramblings, tears, and slight mental break. I am not well after that ending. I need book 3 now 😩 Seriously though, 10/10 recommend.

Pestilence spreads in Claimed by the Shifters, the second book in the Mating Games series Pestilence edition. Of course, I loved it, it's a great world with Meg and Kim steadily building upon it. The best part, this book was loaded with humor and how could I not enjoy that?

Rosie has found her feet, she's a place in this small supernatural community, she's one of them now. Rosie seems happier and more settled in almost every aspect. Rosie seems to have learned a few things from the people around her and past mistakes. She still manages to get herself in a bit of trouble and this time it's all on her.

Things between Rosie and the twins are great and becoming more serious. Things with Asher are opening up and he's actually giving things a shot, allowing himself a bit of happiness. As for Gavin, he has made himself known. Then there's Pan who has a lot of similarities with Gavin. Both threw the biggest tantrums when it came to Roise and of course, went the mean route when dealing with her. However, I can say that while Gavin started off kinda the Devil, he is smoothing out, and getting better, I think it's Rosie's influence. The same can be said about Pan, although his thinking leads more to the darker persuasion. He does remind me of a villain but I think he's getting a softer side. Gods know he was in emotional turmoil in this one plus the constant berating of his mother doesn't help.

The best part is the humor, I was dying. The banter was great, all the jabs and the pop culture references were great. Most of the moments were with Gavin aka the Duke. Omg, the shots both Remi and Asher take were everything then Gavin came back at them with his jabs, it was great. The mention of Bridgerton alone was great then there was the puffin theory. Something else that adds to the story was the appearance of the O.G.s. That's right some of the characters from the first games make an appearance and to say things got crazy is an understatement. It was glorious.

Claimed by Shifters was excellent. A dark and steamy read that had a great plot. Sure there were some revelations (all the tea was spilt), relationship developments (the guys are adjusting), updates on some much-loved characters, and there are just enough hints at what's to come. Then, bam! The cliffhanger that melted my brain. Seriously, wtf was that? Two gigantic plot twists that explain nothing but caused great emotional damage. Yeah. Well at least I can say this series keeps me guessing.

I’m torn on this one. There were a lot of great things about this book. There were some things I had issues with too. The overall story was really good! I was completely immersed in this world. The narration on the audiobook is So. So. Good!!!
Okay, so Rosie. Rosie in book one was great. I loved her. Rosie in book two is so inconsiderate! She makes decisions without any thought to how it will affect the other men. There is one incident that could be viewed as cheating. It felt like cheating to me. Sneaking off to see Pan or Gavin without the others knowing isn’t right.
I loved all the guys in book one. Well. Except Pan. And that hasn’t changed. Remi and Ben Mercer are what twin dreams are made of. Asher has continued to grow on me. By the end, Gavin had really grown on me too. He’s coming around to accepting what he’s a part of. And they all deserve better than how Rosie is behaving!!!
The whole Asher-Remi dynamic is hoooooot! 🥵 And Rosie gets a lot of action with various combinations of the guys. I am here for alllll of it! We get the twin sandwich!!! 🙌🏻 There are a couple chapters you will be reading one handed. Remember to stay hydrated!
I hate Pan. In book one I just really disliked him. Now I hate that guy. There’s nothing about him I find redeemable or potentially redeemable. The authors have a mountain to climb if they’re planning on turning the tide on the readers opinions of him. I was hoping we would get some sign of him coming around in this book, but now I have to hold out hope for book 3.
I hope that the next book in this series will give us more of version 1 of Rosie. She was endearing and sweet and much more considerate of how her actions would affect others. Version 2 of Rosie is none of those things and I found myself disliking her as I read.
I’m really looking forward to the next book! I have theories….

This picked up right where book 1 ended. Gosh Im having a fun time with this cast. The banter is like ridiculously hilarious! Bridgerton references were icing on the cake. Rosie eh, just a tad bit annoyed with her, but thats just me. Loved the guys. I can't wait to see whats next.

The duet audiobook is narrated by Stella Hunter, Teddy Hamilton, JF Harding, John Hartley, James Joseph, and Jacob Morgan. They all did an awesome job.

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Claimed by the Shifters by Meg Anne and K. Loraine is a why choose paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by J.F. Harding, Jacob Morgan, James Joseph, John Hartley, Stella Hunter, and Teddy Hamilton. This is the second book in The Mate Games: Pestilence series.

I absoutely love the Mate Games World! Meg and Kim do an amazing job pulling me into the story. I can't help but binge in each book in one sitting. I am loving the chemistry between Rosalyn, Asher, Pan, Bently, Remington, and Gavin. I loved that we got all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book ended on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Captive of the Night to be released on April 10, 2023.

I absolutely love that they do a full cast of narrators for this series. It really brings the story to life. You can't help but binge the audiobook in one sitting.

I would recommend this series if you like paranormal romances, why choose romances, or fated mate's romances.

Yes, yes, yes! This book was a perfect world building, drama filled, and story connecting read! We saw more insight into bonds created and grown, plenty of character growth, interesting allies created, and lots of STEAM! I found myself flipping pages faster than I could read because I was so excited about what was to come. The dynamic the guys are creating in terms of their relationships with Rosie are all very different but also somehow fit perfectly into the various bits of Rosie. I will say that this book was not for the faint of heart the moments filled with lovers throughout the book and that dramatic cliffhanger of an ending left my heart racing the WHOLE time! I can’t wait to see where this goes next and how the story is going to come back from the ending it had!

So I was listening to this while I was at work, and let me just say, thank gods for AirPods because otherwise 😳. I mean seriously, some of these chapters are so hot I would not have been surprised if my phone had melted. This book is signature K. Loraine and Meg Anne with all of the humor, spice, character antics, bromance, plot twists, and killer cliffhangers. I was literally sitting there listening to the last two chapters staring at my computer screen with my eyes wide and mouth hanging open. When can we get the next book???

If you like your PNR five alarm spicy, this is the book for you!
Let's start with the narration, which really brings this series to the next level.
Kim and Meg brilliantly cast the perfect voices for each character.
First off, James Joseph is killing it as Pan (insert all the 🌶🌶🌶🌶).
Teddy Hamilton is the only choice for Asher with his sweet yet sensual portrayal.
Jacob Morgan as Remi? Yes, please!!
JF Harding pretty much steals my heart as Ben, the quiet yet fierce protector.
John Hartley voices the Duke of Tears, Gavin, and whew!! Holy Moly his he giving off 'spank me daddy' vibes!!
And let's not forget our one and only heroine, Rosie, who is voiced by none other than Stella Hunter, the lucky lady!!!

What you'll get in Claimed By The Shifters: a lot of steamy sex scenes, a few cameos from the first series in the Mate Games, sexy M/M scenes, polyamorous love.

Rosie/Nadia gets herself in a pickle with Pan, Gavin finds Rosie, Ben lands in jail, Rosie just can't seem to stay away from Pan, Remi and Asher have an epiphany and holy crap... that ending!!!!!

Moira, King, and Noah (who incidently are my faves from the first 3 books) make an appearance, and I'm not going to lie.. it may have been my favorite part of this book besides that messed-up ending!!!
I guess we'll all have to stay tuned for book 3!!

The plot for this one was starting too really pull me in, but dare I say, there was too many interruptions in the form of spice. Granted, the spice in this was good—I mean, it’s freakin’ hot—but I wanted more dialogue between the characters because I seriously love Ben, Remi, and Asher so much. I love their banter. And I also wanted their relationships to seem more genuine and authentic and not solely focused on sex. I like the connection and romance between characters and this group isn’t giving me that true love/fated mate vibes yet. I wanted more plot and more relationship building. The audio though is absolute perfection!

Wait What?!

This book was much more interesting than book 1. 3 bonds have been secured, and we find out Asher is more than human.... but not exactly what he is. A surprising death and an even more surprising ending with a skin that was used! Is it who I am thinking it is? If so, then just how??? I have so many questions, and I can't wait to read the next book.

Just as fun as the last book was, so now I know shit is gonna hit the fan in book three. I'm most worried about Pan. He's obviously the worse soulmate out of the gang. I just can't see a path that leads to him existing semi peacefully with Rosie and her other mates. He better get it together and fast. We got an apocalypse to prevent!

disappointed because i loved the first mate games series. surprised i finished book 2 bc it was honestly just awful. book 1 and 2 could've been 1 book. the only character i liked was pan but not enough to put myself through the last 2 books.

Struggling to like Gavin pretty much at all as a person but I’m happy with the other 3 in the picture. Unsure how the last guy will…pan…out but we shall see! 👀
