A FirstReads win. The Prometheus Project: Stranded is part of a series but is a stand-alone addition easy to follow.
The Resnick family are all involved in exploring new worlds accessed through a portal to another dimension. The series follow Ryan and Regan Resnick (the children and part of the exploration team) as they have new adventures. When the team is stranded on Isis by a scientist who has gone mad, Ryan and Regan have to figure out what has happened to them and how to save their lives. The action is on going and keeps the reader interested. Even as an adult, I found Stranded enjoyable and will pass it along to my nephews who I think will love it and want all of the series. It is a very good book for the age group.

I received this Advance Reader Copy through Librarything.
After reading this book, I was amazed how I was sucked in from the very beginning until the very last page; I couldn't put it down. The author explained complicated science theorems such as the fourth dimension and Pavlov's experiments using simple words and phrases that even an eighth grader would fully understand.
Since this was the third book, I am looking forward to reading the first two books in this series. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of science fiction or someone who enjoys a fun read. You won't be disappointed.

I really like this series and I believe the author of this book did a fantastic job of creating a great sci-fi book that keeps you turning the page. I did feel however that this could have been a bit better. I think the ending is a little rushed and, the typos and few grammar errors at the end show that. I love the use of science facts but felt they occured too much, I felt as though they occured in weird spots towards the end.

I appreciate the twists and turns, and the way the story really grips you once you start reading. I love that we got to see more of a meaner side of the characters and I think finding out Michelle is the bad guy really took me by surprise. Then in the ending where she talks about not caring about her daughters, just because Isis's native animals cause a rage infection that can only be cured by the med pen. I love the way the writer explains the beginning and the way it all full circles tying all the ends up.

I don't like the way the end left off with just loosely saying something else may happen, and not seeing Ryan and Alyssa be a couple is a bit of a disappointment. Knowing everything they went through together, and the reason they can't be together is because, they are the only 4 kids in Prometheus and them spending a lot of time together might make it weird for them if they don't work. I feel that's a bit of a weird issue kids would bring up. Nonetheless I truly stand on this being a wonderful series and I'm glad my cousin recommended these books. I recommend anyone to give these a read if you've been thinking about it.

Doug Richards has written a slew of novels about ai and scientific leaps and bounds that are based in real science but not yet known widely. He is a true genius in his descriptions of equipment, warfare, and many projects that are possible but not talked about yet. Doug has a true compassion for human life and never goes anywhere without explaining or considering the negative effects of his futuristic projects. I admire that at the end of each novel he has a section describing what topics were touched upon that are actually relevant to today’s science and what is not likely to be available in the near future. This is important because it explains what is actually likely to be in our near future and what has been given literary license to describe items that still are not possible for many decades using today’s technology. Every one of the stories has you interested start to finish and he is quickly becoming my favorite author with a heart of gold and a conscience that is very strongly influenced by doing the right thing.

In the other two books they miraculously remember random lessons from when they were 7-9 and somehow formulate this perfect plan just in the nick of time, but this one they actually learn things right beforehand or on an expedition, then use what they've learned to adapt to their current situations.

I like that Ryan and Regan got separated. All their plans they've had to rely on being together, but this time they had to shine separately, which they did. They still had telepathy, but they each had their own situations to handle in this one.

I quite enjoyed the plot twists, they sure surprised me! Looking back it was obvious but not in your face. You could pick up on it if you were paying attention, but not so much so that the ending was predictable.

It got a little crazy at times, like with Alyssa and Kelsey, but I still enjoyed it overall.

What a wonderful way to end the trilogy.

From the first book, introducing the characters, the setting, the place that they are now living and moved from. To the marvel of the city that was found by the scientists.

To the second book of a grand escape from sure death by an evil alien.

To the third book of a stranded team upon Isis.

This book had me reeling in a lot of ways. It left me with many unanswered questions, but in the best way.

What ever happens with the Teacher or the Qwervy, Why doesn't Ryan "get the girl," where did Tezoc go,

But I wrap up the final leg of my journey through this trilogy with a smile on my face as I felt through the first two books. Well done and I would always recommend. Well done.

Need a book 4 please

This series was amazing. As the author said, each book gets a lil longer and more complex. The theories discussed about dimensions and including pavlovs dog. I want more from this series, more about the city or other worlds. They didnt get much detail about them. Isis was described, but id like to see the danger being from the city itself and not another alien. However, the emotion effect described about isis was really interesting. If they gave off anger, how would happiness react in its extreme form. So many thoughts and i just loved every second of this book.

For kids and adults as well

These 3 Prometheus Project science fiction books are as exciting and well written as any of Richards near future novels. I recommend them for adults as well as young adults. There is so much one can easily learn from these wonderful adventure filled stories for all age readers. This is sci-fi at its best with unbelievable twists and turns. If you enjoyed any of Richards books, you will also love these completely entertaining and well thought out adventures.

Gr8 read at any age

Richards is a skilled writer with an exceptional imagination based on a bedrock of science... His gearing a series toward younger readers is truly a boon for intelligent, inquisitive 'kids' of ANY age!
I'm glad there are still a book or two of his that I haven't yet read; haven't enjoyed discovering a new author as much in quite a while! Do someone a favor and introduce them to the worlds of Richards!

Great For My 6 Year Old

My son loved this series. We just finished and he said "they should write a 4th book". He says he wants to be a physist and loved learning about some concepts these books brought up. It's amazing how quickly children can understand complex information. We will likely listen again soon.

One major problem

Which came first? The Enigma Cube or the Prometheus Project? Couldn't you have used some other magical mystical device to do something that only controlled gravity. I did like the description of it better here. But really using the same device again! I really loved the story though.

i think it was a great ending to the series, lots of good cliff-hangers and climaxes my only wish is, there needs to be more prometheus project books!!! sooooooo good!! :) (reason why it took me so long to finish was because i got caught up in archie comics)

Fantastic read

As an educator who works with reluctant readers, I can see why this trilogy has been so instrumental in getting kids reading. As an adult reader I was captivated by the characters and plot. Clearly I was not the target audience and yet I couldn't put it down.

Wow, what a great story, can Richards spin it or what - it gets no better! I no more than started and I was hooked, remembering Ryan & Regan. If young readers don’t get hooked I can’t imagine. I ve read all three Prometheus books and want more! 5

Good stuff

Well written. Inspiring. Really breaks down tough concepts for the reader to understand. Until they realize, its even harder to explain to your kids, LOL.

This was another excellent book written for the young set but it did keep me interested even though I am long past that generation. The writing is easy to read, makes sense (as far as sci-fi can) and has some good editing for an Amazon ebook.

The story does evolve around two kids; one in high school and one I believe in middle school. They are extremely bright kids, well that's an understatement considering they seem to solve every problem the adults get them into. They have been accepted as part of a super secret science group studing something that is not originally of this earth. I won't go into more detail; you need to read the first book to get that part.

It seems like every time they turn around, something is going haywire in this facility they are currently studying. But, there's always a way out, it just up to the kids to figure it out. They do and always save the day so if you like stories with complete and happy endings, these are for you.

Don't stay away from these books just because they are for young adults. They are very good reads and are entertaining. I look forward to more in the series.

A First Reads Goodreads Win!
Alien planets, a 4th dimension, sabotage, force shields, attacking native animals, telepathy, top secret projects- a science fiction kids dream! The beginning was a little slow but once it got going it was hard to put down. I like that it makes science enjoyable and even cool. Many twists and turns to this sci-fi mystery. Highly recommended for middle school kids and their parents too! I just wish our library carried the series- I'd love to read the first two.

I won this book on good reads, first reads. I read the first two books in this series before I read this one. It says it is a stand alone, but I don't like reading books out of order if they are a series and I would say this book was better because I had read the others. I really enjoyed these books, they are filled with science, but explained so everyone could understand the science. I bought all three books because I think my kids will like them.

This was a great trilogy for kids fiction. The twists and turns as well as the scientific theories and problem solving keeps you guessing. As you would expect, the kids (Ryan and Reagan) steal the show throughout each book. However, Douglas Richards keeps it within the realm of possibility–believable enough to not be cheesy. I recommend this series as bedtime reading. We enjoyed it.

Awesome book!

this is an awesome book! I got the first for a book report and then got hooked in to it the bought the second and then the third! I'm just really bummed that the author didn't make a forth one, the end of the third is a cliff hanger. I hope he continues the series. it's a great series!

This series gets better with each volume. By the time I finished book three, I was sad there were no further adventures. Other than the dumbed down explanations of basic physics & science, this series is as much fun for the "adult" as it is for the "youthful" reader.
