Teze is appointed head of a food agency by his father, entrusted to stand up to big business. He notices a sudden resurgence in testing for mad cow disease. So far, results have been negative, but the scale of the testing sets alarm bells ringing. Facing pressure from the farm lobby, Teze introduces more stringent testing. This time, results seem to point to a new, more virulent strain of mad cow disease. Is mankind's gluttony at the heart of the problem?
It has been good reading through this series drawing from the seven deadlies. I like that the writing stays consistent, but he artists vary from volume to volume. With gluttony there are some interesting twists with the open and close and the nature of the relationship between the two central characters: a father, who is a high ranking political figure, and his adopted son. Some interesting interplay in the first pages that foreshadows what's to come. Then there is the core content which deals with the politics of the meat industry; and while this story is set in France, it could be pretty much any first world country. Thought provoking, certainly. These volumes draw you in and keep you thinking hours after you finish reading.
La vision de l'agriculture et de toutes les souffrances animales. C'est bien de dénoncer aussi clairement. Le découpage entre le grand restaurant et l'abattoir c'était très percutant. La bd qui te rend végétarien ! La fin est parfaite !
