God Owns My Business is more than a book about a successful businessman. It is the chronicle of how an average man can, with God's guidance and a willing heart, succeed in any endeavor. They said it couldn t be done, but formally and legally, business owner Stanley Tam made God the owner of his business. To say that his business has met with success thanks to this decision would be a significant understatement-Stanley Tam's businesses are large and profitable, giving well over a million dollars annually. It is the chronicle of how an average man can, with God s guidance and a willing heart, succeed in any endeavor.
Stanley Tam is a Christian who is a businessman. He shares his story of how the Lord has directed him to progressively turn over his business to God. He and his wife have learned to live on a set income and have put increasing percentages of the profits of the business into a foundation that supports Christian work around the world. They have apparently given over $100 million.
This is NOT a wacky Christian book. It is a compelling story.
The theme of Tam's life story is summed up in Ps 37:23. "The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way;"
As a businessman, who is a Christian, I am challenged by this story
Truly inspiring. A realization that checked my heart's motives, and made me ask the question "Am I willing to trust God enough to be willing to give him 100% and let him direct my life in any way he sees fit?" Two thumbs up for this book!
Stanley Tam tells the story of how he came to faith in Christ, started a business, and made it legally the Lord’s ... as strange as that sounds.
I love this story. What an inspiration! His theology leaves something to be desired, but this man was sincerely devoted to Jesus Christ and faithfully evangelistic. It also demonstrates that ambition and godliness don’t need to be mutually exclusive.
I would give this book 5 stars on content, but 4 or less on style. It is inspiring, and informative, and there are a lot of tidbits to grab and hold. But it was like reading a 158 page autobiographical evangelistic sermon with lots of personal illustrations and anecdotes. I can see why the fellow who recommended it to me said it changed his life.
This book is one of the most inspirational books I have read as a Christian based business owner. I have actually been honored to meet Dr. Tam at his wood shop, before it closed and he was a inspiration to talk with. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be different than what the world wants you to be. GREAT BOOK! Joseph
Stanley Tam is someone we should aspire to be like, but will all inevitably fall short. He founded a successful company but felt convicted to involve God more. So he signed over 51% to a trust 'owned' by God. Later he signed the entire company over and became an employee. A great, story though I'm now researching for more of his business journey and would have liked a bit more in the book.
I knew the cliff notes version of Stanley Tam's story and heard him speak years ago. It was interesting to read the full story of how God led him to increasing give over control of his business and the decisions made along the way that allowed him to share Christ with many.
This is a must read for any Christian and any business owner! Whether you own a business or not, a lot of the principles Mr. Tam discusses can be applied to the Christian walk!
In a world of books that teach how to share our love of Jesus with others, this one is awesome. It's the story of Stanley Tam, a business man who loved God so much that he shared his personal testimony with everyone he could. This story of his life and business are awesome and it shares a wonderful example of how we can live for God.
