Using Corpora for Language Research

Rate this book
Corpus linguistics is a relatively new subject in linguistics whereby corpora, or collections of spoken or written texts, are stored on computer in a tagged form and used for linguistic analysis. Up until now, most corpus-based research has focused on grammar and lexicography, but as this text shows, the corpus approach can be applied to a wide range of areas of language study including translation, stylistics, foreign language teaching and language testing. This book is in honour of Geoffrey Leech, a leading contributor to the field of corpus linguistics.
