A revised edition of Christine Nuttall's established text on the teaching of reading skills in a foreign language. It examines the skills required to read effectively and suggests classroom strategies for developing them. A new chapter on testing reading is provided by Charles Alderson.
I had this book as my class text in my Reading in ESL class during my graduate studies. It was phenomenal! Concise, excellent applications, perfect for ESL graduate or undergraduate course work or as a supplemental while teaching.
I couldn't get the newer editions at the time--and place, and even now when I would buy one a fresh copy--they are very expensive--I don't know which edition is 'best.'
I found this to be a fascinating insight into how reading works, complementing earlier books I had read on developing reading skills. I think it's something I will return to again and again, full of practical ideas.
Extremely useful with a lot of examples. I didn't manage to find a full copy of it but read most chapters through copies given by my Reading Comprehension teacher.
