Nice. Whimsical. Charlie Ashanti can speak Cat. His parents are scientists who both mysteriously disappear. Charlie with the help of the cats finds himself searching for his parents, ostensibly to rescue them, once he's escaped from the local thug. He ends up on a Circus Boat sailing to Paris. Because he can speak Cat, he is able to speak to the circus lions. Charlie helps the lions escape and ends up on the Orient Express under the protection of the King of Bulgaria. The ending is sudden & I see that this is actually the first book in a trilogy. I guess I'll have to find the other two. I really enjoyed this.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I listened to it because my son read the series and really liked it, but I didn't really get it from his description. It's a fun read - especially for upper grade boys I'd say. I'm excited to read the other 2.
