Ancient Paganism explores the false religion of the ancient pre-flood world and its spread after Noah's Flood into the Gentile nations. Quotes from the ancient church fathers, rabbis, and the Talmud detail the activities and beliefs of both Canaanite and New Testament era sorcery. This book explores how, according to biblical prophecy, this same sorcery will return before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ to earth. These religious beliefs and practices will invade the end time church and become the basis for the religion of the Antichrist. Wicca, Druidism, Halloween, Yule, meditation, and occultic tools are discussed at length. This book is brought to you by Biblefacts Ministries, Biblefacts.org
Ken Johnson was born in 1965 and became a Christian at the age of 12. He quickly realized there were differences in doctrine in various denominations and sought out to prove to himself the correct interpretation of these issues that divide Christians. After an intensive study of the first century church he sought to bring back the teaching of the disciples of the 12 apostles. He has authored numerous books and made ancient Jewish scrolls available to the English speaking world.
He currently travels to churches inside the USA, speaking on these and other topics. He currently attends Calvary Chapel of Johnson County, located in Olathe Kansas.
This was well worth the time to read. Being able to understand the origins and mutations of paganism is critical in discerning the worldviews we encounter everyday. As Solomon said, there is nothing new under the sun.
The author quotes the Book of Jasher (and later from the Book of Jubilee) extensively to explain what exactly was going on with the people prior to the flood, and how they were wicked. I do not believe we have any evidence that we actually have the original Book of Jasher which is mentioned in the Bible (I’m assuming it would have been canonized), therefore relying on a very questionable book to know what happened pre-flood doesn’t seem wise to me. Nothing that was stated seems unreasonable per se, and could very well be true, but since we don’t know for certain that the Book of Jasher that we have was actually written before the flood (or by the actual person that it claims to have been written by), I don’t think we should be relying on it and should instead rely only on what we have recorded for us in Scripture.
The author claims to know exactly what Lucifer said to the other angels to make them take his side (specifically says that it was the “Doctrine of Emanation”). This entire book seems to be based on false premises, or at least highly speculative premises which, though interesting, cannot be verified.
Because of the fact that the author almost solely relies on very sketchy sources for his information, I cannot trust anything in this book, for that reason I also cannot recommend this book or this author. (I stopped reading at 27%)
I can't in good conscience rate this book higher than a 1, however. Very amusing read. Found myself laughing out loud several times; though the author uses far too many exclamation points. When I picked up this book, I wasn't expecting it to be a conspiratorial, stream of consciousness from a devout Christian who clearly hates all other religions. But, by God. It certainly was that.
Funny read if you treat it like the satire that it should be categorized as.
I really enjoyed this book as I do all of Ken's books. He does a lot of research, includes the meat of the matter without bogging you down with a lot of extra words that soon bore the average reader and I like that. Basically he gets to the point. Well worth the time to read.
What a very informative and enlightening book! The author shows the history and beginnings of ancient pagan practices, and contrasts them with modern day remnants of worship. It’s an easy read and shows how the ancient church fathers wrote and taught against idolatrous beliefs and practices. A very good book.
For honest Review . I found this very educational in my studies it shows alot of the information why we have alot of custums that we have today and how they play a role in religion a must read when doing biblical studies.
This book analyzes how the different gnostic theologies tried to infiltrate the original Doctrine of the Church. Many resources have been cited by the disciples of the disciples of Christ Jesus. Great navigation and resources as well as eye opening!!
Awesome book, very well researched. Very interesting to learn about the pagan history and practices which died off in the flood, but were brought back by one of Noahs sons after he found a tablet with the practices written (written in Jasher or Josephus from memory) .. infultrating the new age church. Also interesting to learn the origens of many modern day practices like halloween and santa clause etc.
A very deep and serious study. It covers our modern holidays and where things originally came from. This will blow your mind and have you rethink. As well as all the paganism beliefs, the disciples were busy dealing with then and how they hide now. Will be rereading a few times. More than worth the ponder.
Very interesting book, but I don't buy in to all of his beliefs myself. Somethings he states I don't agree with but still interesting. Would not recommend for new Christians, might create some confusion for them. Best to study the true word of God, the Holy Bible and let the Holy Spirit guide you to the true understanding of who and what God and Jesus Christ is and forever will be. Prepare for our Lord and Savior is coming soon. Hallelujah, thank you Jesus.
