Madeline Grant has never quite felt normal, but with the extreme tiredness and inhumanly painful cramps she’s been experiencing lately, the ER nurse feels less than human. That’s no surprise to Jake Redthorn. When he comes to the hospital Maddy works at, he immediately senses she’s a shifter and is about to go into heat. Maddy’s in danger if she doesn’t breed with a shifter ASAP, but Maddy’s a Lynx and Jake’s a Wolf – their mating would be forbidden. To save Maddy, Jake calls his best friend, Will Tanner, a Lynx shifter, and asks him to help Maddy through her first time. But when the weather interferes and Jake’s forced to help Maddy himself, their taboo bond sets off a whole series of problems. Neither Jake nor Maddy’s tribe will take their break with tradition lightly, and to make matters worse, Will immediately falls for Maddy as well. Will would be the perfect match for Maddy, if her heart weren’t already taken. What’s a shifter to do?
Evangeline Anderson heats up the holidays in this sexy shifter adventure. In Madeline’s Mates, Will, Jake, and Maddy are all thrown in an untenable situation. Tradition and the laws of their people demand that Maddy and Jake be separated, even though it’s pretty much love at first sight. Will, who would have been the ideal man for Maddy, only comes in second best to her affections for much of the book because she fell for Jake first. The drawing point of this story is the likeability and inherent honor of all three protagonists. Yet, while Maddy and Jake’s romance captured me from the start, her connection with Will never seemed as solid to me. I appreciated the strong bond of friendship between Jake and Will, but try as I might to see it otherwise, Will felt like a third wheel. Despite Ms. Anderson’s best efforts to convince me otherwise, I still felt by the end of the story that Jake and Maddy would have had a complete relationship sans Will. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed Madeline’s Mates and when it comes to writing meltingly hot sex scenes, few match up to Ms. Anderson’s talent.

I was enjoying this book until we got up to the arrival of the smug, self righteous shifter councils and their representatives and all the crap involved.
Pleased Maddie, Jake and Will made their own tribe even though Will did seem a little third wheelish.

Unbalanced MFM menage. Will was the 3rd wheel. He was emotionally available to Madeline, but she never truly deeply accepted him on the same level as Jake. The sex scenes with him were dull and low on detail too. Madeline's stupidity and helplessness became tiresome and made her character unlikable and worthless.

Bizarre shapeshifter with all kinds of lost, half and full blooded, mates won and losses, asssumption of family ties???, old and new tribes - if you do not know the rules watch out if you did not know anything about being a shapeshifter. Too much going on in this story to make much sense out of it.

This isn't a very likeable shifter world, between all the shifters who are snobs and then all the fricking rules that could have you dead or wearing a brand on your face. Also the heroine's attitude about WIll really bugged me.

Oh wow. This was a special kind of terrible. Cheesy sex lines, ridiculous conflict, and way too long. I usually like this author but this story was a huge let down.

Great book but what would have been icing on the cake would have been if Madeline had given birth to both a Lynx and a Wolf child to prove that the Taboo was hogwash.

What can I say, except that this book had no substance. I'm a huge fan of Evangeline Anderson, but this book didn't hold up to her other series "Brides of the Kindred". This book was all about the sex and nothing about character or story substance. Some readers might be okay with it, but I need a book with more.

Howling Good Time!
This is a fast paced romance that will hold you captive from the first page. The author did a good job of giving us a look into this shifter world without giving away too much information too fast. With a few different kinds of shifters involved there was a bit of drama with their interaction. I had a great time seeing how they interacted with one another and understanding this new world right along with Maddy.
Madeline is a kind and intelligent woman who is used to being on her own and taking care of herself. So things get a little crazy when she finds out she now has to deal with a whole pack of family. I really liked her and was impressed with how well she handled this situation. I was also glad that she didn't just give in to their demands and did what she believed was best despite what everyone else thought.
Jake was a bit rough around the edges, but very sweet and caring. I thought it was so sweet how he did what he could to help Maddy even when it could cost him a lot in the end. He didn't turn his back on her even when things got tough.
Will was the exact opposite of Jake. He was very sweet and cordial, but with a wily sense of humor. He knew how to get his way, but he was always honest and didn't try to deceive Maddy just to get what he wanted.
These three were a great family and worked so well together. I really enjoyed getting to know all three of them. This is an exciting and steamy story that you will not want to miss!

From no sex to uber-sex, this is the story of Maddie who discovers that she is a were-lynx and in heat. The story focuses on how she gets through that time with the help of Jake and later Will. The sex scenes are quite hot and tittilating to read, but the way Maddie developed her feelings to Jake is too fast for me. Will seems like the third wheel in the story but I'm glad that he also found his happy ending.

I absolutely love Evangeline Anderson's books! This one did not disappoint, well unless you count the fact I was disappointed this book wasn't the start to a series. The book summary given on both amazon and goodreads is great so I will not summarize the book but I will say this book was edited and written well, I really enjoyed the characters and the story does not slow down. Be aware this is a sexually graphic book and may contain themes not everyone is comfortable with.

This book was one of my first in the erotic fiction department, so it was one of the books that reeled me in to the addiction of book porn :) I have to say because of that I have soft spot of Evangaline Anderson and all that she does. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I would recommend it to all who like bookie nookie and multiple partners or menage books.

Things are about to change for Madeline, who grew alone and in an orphanage, when Jake turns up in the ER where she works.

I wish there was a second part to this novel because I absolutely loved it. Although I did want to rip out the Elders throats.
