Treasure Creek, Alaska, has only one the very handsome, very eligible Dr. Alex Haven. But the former big-city doc is counting the weeks till his contract with the tiny town is up. All so he can return to Los Angeles to start a clinic in his brother's honor. Nurse Maryann Jenner is determined to keep Alex in Alaska by finding him a bride and giving him a new reason to stay. But when a little boy's life—and Maryann's hope—is jeopardized, Alex may find his own reason to stay forever.
Janet grew up in the wide open spaces of rural Montana and now lives in the urban spaces of Pasadena, California. She's used both of these locations in her books. Her Dry Creek, Montana series numbers over twenty novels now and her Pasadena books, The Sisterhood of the Dropped Stitches, number four.
Thanks Janet for a copy of this book. I really enjoyed this book. It is part of a 6 part series on Treasure creek Alaska. Each book is a stand alone but it would be of benefit to read Jillian Harts Klondike hero, as Maryann is first introduced in that book. In this book Maryann is working for Alex who is a pediatrician he is looking at finishing up work with in a month or so and planning to go back to LA to start a up a new clinic dedicated to his brother who is disabled. Alex has alot of guilt he is dealing and as we see in the book it can be unrealistic guilt which often happens to children when something happens and they blame themselves. Maryann loves children and loves how Alex works with the children and really wants him to stay in Treasure Creek. When Timmy is need of medical help he becomes a catalyst in what will happen next. I loved the story and I love the "fancy Women" these women are in Treasure creek to find husbands only alot of single men are running from them which adds to interesting encounters. A great read.
I really enjoyed this one. Many of Janet Tronstad's characters are people I would love to be friends with in real life, and I enjoyed spending time with them while reading "Dr. Right." There were enough descriptive details included to help you feel like you were actually there, but not so many that they overwhelmed the story. She also had enough happening in the plot that it seemed like a more substantial, interesting story than some contemporay romances do.
I love all of Janet's book. So glad they came out with this series. The characters always feel like someone you could get to know. Little Timmy is adorable! amazing how the faith of a little boy who is severly sick, can change the heart of a bitter doctor dealing with guilt. Alex can't seem to forgive himself for the accident his brother had, but through his nurse, Maryanne and Timmy, he learns about love and forgiveness. I even love the side story of Rocco, Alex's brother, learning to do things for himself and not being a recluse. Sometimes we have to learn things the hardway before we can fully appreciate what God has in store for us. Can't wait to read the next story in the series! I think I will be sad once they are done with it. It's like visiting a little piece of small hometown life.
Fantastic read! Many Call Dr. Alex Haven one of the most eligible bachelors in Alaska. His nurse, Mary Ann calls him Mr. Ice. When a conversation in the town diner is over heard, the rumors spread about him needing a wife, and the woman come running. As Mary Ann tries to apologize for the predicament she's placed him in, they both grow closer and realize the feelings other than respect have developed while they worked together. I loved Mary Ann's strong faith and the way she grew in it as the story continued. She had a way of encouraging others's on their walk with God without being pushy.
Dr. Alex was a multi layered character I loved getting to know. On the outside he was detached and cold when he wasn't dealing with children, but we quickly learned the reason why. Watching him come to grips with his past, and where his future truly lied.
Dr Alex and Mary Ann made a good team in the Alaska pediatricians office, they seem to compliment one another in their work. they had feelings for each other and did not show them for anyone to see, I thought they would never get together but together they did get by the end of the book. Treasure Creek sounded like a great small place that I would love to visit. I liked the way everyone in the little town helped each other. I was left wondering if there really could be a treasure hidden there-maybe that is another book Janet.
I'm falling in love with Treasure Creek, Alaska....LOVED Dr. Alex Havens and Nurse Maryann Jenner....AGAIN, GORGEOUS photography for the book cover, and the guy supposed to be/portraying Dr. Havens is CUTE! I want to eat a Lizbets Diner. I wanna see a moose Lol...Good book!
Definitely a sweet little story. I liked how the relationship between Alex and Maryann was already established (well, as a working relationship at least) before the story started, so while their romance did seem rather quick, it wasn't as quick as an 'insta-love' kind of thing. I liked how Alex learned about what forgiveness and grace meant, though I wish it had been fleshed our a wee bit more. I look forward to seeing what happens next in Treasure Creek.
A good read. Treasure Creek's pediatrician is planning to go back to the big-city after his term is up. But Nurse Maryann Jenner is determined to keep Alex in Alaska by finding him a bride in town. Will she find a reason for him to stay? or will his determination to make-up for something that happened when he was child make him choose to go back to the city?
Alex and MaryAnn , doctor and nurse, were a sure fit for each other, but would they let God lead them down the path He had for them to trod. Alex had a lot of built to overcome, Mary Ann slot of family history. Take the trip with them. Believe you will not be able to put the book down. True love blessed by God is wonderful.
Good read. There were 276 pages instead of 224.. I hate it when they get that wrong. This was a pretty decent book. I liked that it was a little bit different romance christian books that I have read.
Cute story. Could be a stand alone but I really like getting to know the characters. Each of the previous books touch on the doctor so it was fun reading about him.
Dr. Alex Haven is only in the Alaska for a short-term duty until he moves onto his dream of opening a free clinic in Los Angeles, but can he give up that dream after meeting Nurse Maryann Jenner. In Doctor Right by Janet Tronsted, Alex’s dream has been to open a free clinic since an accident as a child almost killed him and permanently injured his brother. Alex is faced with several tough choices, should he choose his childhood dream or should he reevaluate his dreams before he loses a new dream that is right in front of his face.
Maryann decided long ago that when she fell in love it was going to be based on a mutual liking and genetics. Maryann’s childhood was in constant turmoil because of her parents falling in and out of love regularly. Maryann, not paying attention to who was listening in the small town, made the comment that Alex needed a wife, now she has to work to protect him from all the women determined to catch the attractive doctor. Forced to deal with the women, Maryann starts to realize why Alex is such a create catch but she fears that it is only the situation that is causing her feelings and she fears any strong feelings she might have because those feeling might not last.
Doctor Right is a cute read, continuing the Sons of the Alaska Sun story line, where an special article that ran in a magazine about all the bachelor’s living in Alaska has brought what the locals refer to as the “fancies”, or desperate wealthy women who show up to try and catch a bachelor. Alex’s feelings of survivor guilt and frustrations in dealing with this brother was compelling and understanding. I can easily see how he could confuse guilt with desire to do things. One of the issues involving Dr. Alex regarding his financial situation and his involvement of the community using his finances seemed a bit disjointed from the story and wasn’t resolved adequately for me, this was the only problem I had with the story. Janet’s description of the Alaskan area was great and made me want to visit the area
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway! Overall, I really liked the story and the characters. It is a romance, therefore the direction of events was no surprise. I do wish there was a little more mystery or challenge involved. I had never read an inspirational romance, and found that I really liked that aspect of the story. I also had no qualms in recommending the book to my grandmother, who is also an avid reader.
I thought it was a very slow moving books. I enjoyed the scenery description of Alaska. I read the entire book though because I devour books about drs! I enjoyd the fact that it had no offensive language!!
Had read this before but going to read the next one in the series... Dr. Alex Haven and Nurse Maryann Jenner help Timmy get the medical attention he needs all the way in Juneau.
