About the author

Edward J. Weiler is an astrophysicist and a leading scientist at NASA. He served as Chief Scientist of the Hubble Space Telescope from 1979 until 1998. He is currently the Associate Administrator for the Science Mission Directorate of NASA. He has published widely in scientific journals.

The long reading time is more the re-delving into the pages and looking repeatedly at the photos. The information is easy to read and understand.

What a fantastic book and great value for money. I find the study of space to be gripping, to think that so much is going on up there. Awesome is the only word for it. The incredible energy that is creating and destroying stars, that is keeping planets and moons in orbit around them - it's well worth contemplating, in my opinion. This book captures the most beautiful images of that energy at work. Well worth picking up when you get home annoyed because you couldn't find a parking space (excuse the play on words there!) at the supermarket, or your boss irritated you. The realization of what else is going on in the universe gives you a sense of perspective. It is also well worthwhile contemplating that us humans are part of all of that. Most of us feel separate from it but, in actuality, we are not. That, however, is another subject altogether, one, incidently, that is covered extremely well in the book I am currently reading 'The Master Key System' by Charles F Haanel.

Enough jaw-dropping images to make this a worthwhile purchase and you don't have to turn on the computer and fire up the search engines to see them. Cogent explanations of each picture assume the reader has some knowledge, but it is all accessible.
