Providing a big picture approach to Java programming for introductory course or next level students and programmers tackling the challenge of embedding programs into Web-based applications, Morelli (computer science, Trinity College, Hartford, CT) facilitates the learning curve with programming and debugging tips, exercises, and "CyperPet" examples. Appends information on coding conventions, the Java development kit, ASCII and Unicode character sets, Java keywords, the operator precedence hierarchy, advanced language features, and online and print references. Includes a companion website and a CD-ROM that contains the Java code for all the text examples and Java tools: Java 2SDK, Borland JBuilder 3, and NetBeans.
This is very technically written, and it is innappropriate for beginners. I had to get another java book to supplement it. If you do not have at least some understanding of programming and technical terms related to programming, do not pick up this book.
