Contains mini editions of the first five classic Where's Wally? titles. Hidden in the slipcase, this title includes a magnifying glass (14cm height) with a striped handle, to help in the search for Wally, his friends and hundreds of other things to spot.
Martin Handford, the man behind the mind-boggling Waldo books, began his career as a freelance illustrator specializing in drawing crowd scenes. The turning point came when he was asked to create a book showcasing his impressive talent, and the character Waldo was born—originally to provide a link between each scene. "I can't tell you how pleased I am that Waldo has taken on a life of his own," Martin Handford says. "I'd like to inspire children to open their minds to explore subjects more, to be aware of what's going on around them. I'd like them to see wonder in places that may not have occurred to them." Martin Handford lives in England.
Nothing ever but5 ★'sfor Waldo! Where's Waldo? Was always a favorite book of my series as it was for millions of other kids I'm sure :) I remember always checking them out at the elementary library I went to school at. I always enjoyed the challenge of finding Waldo and playing it with a friend or two or three or five lol, to see who could find him first. It made it that much more fun. The illustrations are bright and colorful and very alluring. Every kid should get to experience the joys of Where's Waldo.
The best part about Waldo books is that they are so iconic. As much as I loved them in childhood, I love them even more as an adult, especially since I can now share the ultimate frustration of trying to find a certain character with my own kids.
I always get excited when I see a Waldo book being released. How many different ways can I find the characters? What new frustrations await me? In Where's Waldo? The Magnificent Mini Boxed Set, all the drawings are tiny and you get a cool magnifying glass! The difficulty level has definitely increased and I found myself having a little trouble locating Waldo even though these are the same scenarios from the previous editions.
I would recommend this edition for veteran Waldo finders, as younger children may get easily disheartened at not being able to find the characters as fast as they could with the other Waldo books. My 5-year-old in particular quickly gave up in her search on her own and only showed slightly more patience when I helped her. The magnifying glass, on the other hand, was a huge hit with my kids!
However, for those looking for more of a Waldo-finding challenge, this is a great book to get your neurons working! It's the perfect activity for a rainy day or if you are craving a bit of nostalgia.

I bought this as an adult for myself just for the nostalgia that these books gave me. The small versions are still very enjoyable, even without the magnifying glass. I am now giving it away and hope that some other child or person might enjoy these, especially now since the world got digital. I think these are still very enjoyable!
