The Guardian Nigeria Newspaper used to publish chapters from this book each week. I'd eagerly wait for my dad to get back from work with the papers and sit and read the story. It was my first introduction to following a series (lol).

An excellent story for kids and adults alike. Great character development and an impressive hero's arc.

Definitely worth reading.

A Classic lmao
I remember reading this so many times as a kid even though I can't remember many of the details but it was mostly about the cruel Fulani/Trans Saharan slave trade in Northern Nigeria way before European contact

This was the first book I ever read as child that made me fall in love with reading and story telling. Granted I read Enid Blyton books but I still remember the feeling this book gave, That I bought a copy 25 years after
