A young woman is dead, another is missing. Two cases worlds apart.
When an old friend throws Cutter a case involving the disappearance of a young woman from Detroit’s most prominent family, he sees an opportunity to make some quick cash to keep the bookies off his back. But he soon realizes his client’s problems are a lot more sinister than he thought and finds himself in too deep.
This neo-noir thriller will get the blood pumping and deliver a shocking ending that will leave readers breathless as they discover The Sinful .
The Sinful is an attractive read for fans of James Patterson, Walter Mosley, and Lawrence Block .

This is about a good cop in forced retirement doing the right thing. Now trying to make a living being a private detective. He has a ruff back ground and history in family, military and just plain life. He wants to do what is right, but how in such a corrupt world. Narrator does a very good job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.
Loved the narration of Nico Fragoso, who makes the dark side of Detroit come to life in your ears.
When PD Cutter, finds himself needing to keep the bookies of his back. He is more than happy to take on a case involving the disappearance of a young woman from Detroit’s most prominent family. It has to easy money. But like all good PD thrillers he soon realizes his client’s problems are a lot more darker than he thought and finds himself in deep.
An engaging story with well-developed and interesting characters and a mystery that had me feverishly turning pages only to be surprised at every turn. The author did an outstanding job of walking us through some of Detroit's (and beyond) most locally familiar locations, which is endearing for locals, and intriguing for those who aren't.
The central character Mr. Cutter is a bit "sinful" himself, but an awesome character who kept me entertained and wanting more of his humor, grit, and surprisingly authentic heart.
Looking forward to reading more from this author and recommending The Sinful to all my mystery and cop-drama loving friends.
This is the first book in the Leroy Cutter series. I actually read it after the follow-up book, "Into the Marrow." Both books are well written and are characterized by a gritty, wise guy prose. I think I preferred the second book which had a stronger storyline than "The Sinful." For most of the first half of this book, it almost felt like the author had completely forgotten about the plot. We're taken through various episodes where the PI gets into all kinds of scrapes, but you don't feel as though you're getting any closer to understanding the case that he's supposed to be solving. The author has developed an interesting character, but there needs to be a stronger plotline to keep the reader fully engaged.
I enjoyed this audiobook because it was action-packed with a good storyline and characters. The narrator Nico Fragoso did a good job of changing the voices. My only criticism was the main character was too focused on himself. I felt it made the book too wordy and it took away from the flow.
I'm a huge mystery and thriller fan. Usually, I end up unraveling the mystery before the main character does. Not this time. The Sinful kept me guessing until the final chapter. Loved it!
Not a bad book/story but not necessarily a good one either. I only selected it because it featured Detroit, Michigan in the story. A place I know well. It was an easy and quick read.
Just pages into this book, I found myself not wanting to stop reading it. You know a book is good when all you think about is reading the book... when you are at work, you want to get home and read. When you are in bed, you are thinking about the book. This is exactly the case with The Sinful. I absolutely loved the book. Every character was described in detail and you could literally see what he/she looked like. It was suspenseful and a very shocking ending that I never saw coming.
