A human being with blindness can be compared to a car with a perfect engine that is forced to navigate in darkness because its headlights are not working. The victims of this disability have, forever, been prevented from seeing other people's faces and gestures, and manifestations of universal beauty such as the flowing river and the colorful sunsets. Ignorance has prevented many well-educated people from appreciating the feelings, desires, and capabilities of the blind. Although blindness is a very serious disability, there are various ways to identify the potential of its victims and enhance their quality of living. Compared to many mentally retarded people, the members of the world's blind community are in a better position to lead near-normal lives. This book also contains many practical suggestions for improving the quality of life of the world's marginalized blind population.
