Geoffrey Abbott served for many years as a Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London. Author of nineteen books and contributor to the Encyclopaedia Britannica/, he has made numerous television appearances. He lives in London.
This book has some great historical stories about all types of public executions, strange facts, and statements. The author is a retired Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) of the Tower of London. His research and knowledge make for an excellent read. Looking through our history it seems that we have become somewhat more civilized in our treatment of others. If you think lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment for a murderer convicted by a jury of peers and reviewed through endless appeals; read this book!!!
More bizarre and gruesome facts. Not always organized in the best of manners and sometimes rather random, but for random trivia lovers, this is an interesting read. Not good for research as Abbott doesn't reference where he gets his material.
Fun little book that I've had sitting on my bookshelf for far too long. Finally decided to read it and was mildly entertained. Its a pretty okay book, but nothing special.
