Having a distant relative who was indeed in Aomi POW camp with the writer, I was morally obliged to read this account by the writer, the commanding officer. I found this an engaging and surprisingly easy read. At no point did I encounter any bitterness towards the Japanese captors. It was certainly emotive but never gratuitous. It is history from the viewpoint of a dignified and well rounded gentleman.
