Since the release of her 2004 debut novel A Gangster’s Girl, Essence Magazine best selling author Chunichi Knott has gone on to pen three additional best selling novels, Married To The Game, The Naked Truth and Return of A Gangster’s Girl.
With more than a half of a million books in print and on the heels of her fifth novel, California Connection, Chunichi’s talent as a writer, combined with her consistent and successful track record speaks for itself.
In addition to her hard work and relentless drive, Chunichi’s rise to the top of the literary world can easily be attributed to the fact that she has lived through the same fast lifestyle of sex, money, drugs, cars, and designer clothes, that she writes about in her books.
The former quiet southern girl from Alabama had her life transformed when she moved to Virginia Beach in her late teens. Dubbed the Urban Diva of literature because of her striking beauty, Chunichi’s stunning looks and Scorpio sex appeal was evident since her teenage years. And she instantly became a magnet for attracting ballers who elevated her social status while introducing her to an intoxicating high-end lifestyle.
That lifestyle transformed the sexy seductress into a gun toting Bonnie who was trained to fire. Chunichi’s fast paced lifestyle soon began to mimic that of a vixen and it included stints as a highly sought after local celebrity as well as her being the spoiled female darling of several NBA and NFL athletes.
Consequently as Chunichi matured, she decided to make a change in the way she was living. Never forgetting her past but making sure to leave the fast life behind, Chunichi went on to pursue and attain her degree in Nursing, while simultaneously putting her real life experiences on paper.
Now a reserved, mysterious beauty, the Urban Diva moves like anthrax, killing the literary scene with books that are sure to keep her on top of the major best seller’s list for years to come.

Street keep calling was a fast read. Breeze had serve a five year bid for a drug charge. Everybody had turn their backs on him including his wife Maria. When we got out he made a promise to himself and God, that we wouldn't follow in the same foot steps as he did before. But the streets kept calling him, he was tired on struggling and couldn't pay any bills has a janitor. Shit start going krazy in the blink of an eyes it started a war. I would like to maybe see a part 2 to this book.

This was giving Tyler Perry in book form but it’s good! Would i read again?

Probably not

I enjoyed the thorough explanation of his struggle between God and the streets. It was realistic.

‘The streets keep calling’ by Chunichi
To me this book is really good. I like the details like the main problem in the story.
To begin, this book is about Breez who just got out of jail. He has a wife and 3 kids. While finding out his wife sold his house and left with kids, he was furious. He finds a job at a school as a janitor. While seeing old friends, he gets back in business forgetting the consequences, Doing what he does to get money for his kids. The wife calls his phone and offers $2,000 for him to sign papers, so the kids could be his ex wife's boyfriends kids. He is only living at his moms when released from jail.
My favorite quotes from the book are when he says to his mom, “Never once did I think she would take my kids away from me.”(72) Another is when he tells his girlfriend “Before I go, I want you to know I really appreciate you being so supportive about this whole thing.”(129). On the other hand opponents might say that this book is bad. Also because of the action in the story. However, you don't have to judge a book by its cover. You have to read the book to understand it. This book is really good, the story is really intense. Finally, the quality of the book is strong, The book is good because I like action books.

Absolutely the worst book I've ever read (or, actually, listened to). Stereotyped characters acting in poor ways that are supposed to somehow be acceptable, gratuitous sex that has nothing to do with the story, characters that come and go...just plain bad. If you think this is good in any way, you really, really need to reevaluate either your reading choices or perhaps even your lifestyle if it at all represents the stupidity in this book.

Seriously, I hung in until the end just to see where the train wreck ended. Utter garbage.

The Streets Keep Calling is a Coast 2 Coast Readers must read. I had to give this novel all five stars. Breezy Breeze is that boy in the hood, that we all know and Chunichi take you on a 360' ride in his hood. So much happens is such a short amount of time.

This isn't my usual sort of book pick, but once again I must make allowances for the lack of selection of available MP3 audiobooks through the Chicago Public Library. This was actually a good mindless read, especially for listening to during my snow covered commute. The main character, Breeze, has just gotten out of prison after a five year stint. He's trying to fly straight and reconnect with his kids, but, of course, the streets keep calling. The fact that Breeze is an ex con and former drug dealer apparently makes him very attractive to women, because he gets quite a bit of action in this book. (Although, I could have done without the graphic sex scenes...) One of his women, Tenisha, is easily the stupidest woman on the planet. She is supposed to be a bank manager but she seems too stupid to even serve as banker for a game of Monopoly. I don't want to give away all of the naive promises she believes and the great things she does, although I must mention that her only other serious relationship was with a leader of a Mexican drug cartel and she thinks it would be great to get her current and former boyfriends together. There were many times that I wanted someone to hit her in the head with something to see if any brains would start functioning. In any case, the book does kind of wrap up quickly and I would have liked to see more development in the story near the end. It seems like the author lost the thread of the story or got sick of writing it in the last couple of chapters. But overall, this is an entertaining book if you're looking for something that is pretty mindless.

This book was a good read, but I think I'm used to author book Married to the game. But this one was interesting.
Breeze goes home after a five year bid, but the streets keeps calling and he tries his best to stay on the right path. Seeing the struggles of not being able to help his mom or his kids he ends up right back on the bad path.

Believing that things would be better things turns out not great. With his wife back at her knees wanting him back. With another girl that has a secret and wants Breeze and another girl that has his heart Breeze has much on his plate.

Mr. Biggs want his seven cities back after seeing that Breeze is the man and he's willing to do anything to find Breeze.

Overall nicely written...

I listened to the audiobook. This was my first time experiencing this author. The narrator was hilarious trying to be the females speaking in the book. This was a decent read. I actually liked Breeze, Trixie and Tanisha's characters. Although Breeze was a felon, he actually had a good heart and loved his kids and family. That's respectable. The Streets Keep Calling is a good title for the book. It truly fits. This story was about a man named Breeze when the book started off, he was in prison and on his way out. As he transitioned to the real world, he had to get acclimated. Trying to walk the straight and narrow wasn't as easy as he'd imagined. This book is his journey. Ok short read. I'll try more books by this author.

This was a quick read (or listen in my case), which gave it little room for fillers and pretty much straight to the point. The way the main character was written, it made me want him to be able to do his thing, get on his feet and everything fall into place but in reality you know that doesn't happen likely. The women he dealt with were all different and provided different things to his life. I hoped he could get on the straight and narrow and settle down but I guess I should have known by the title "The Streets Keep Calling" not to expect a happily ever after. I hope there is a follow-up to the story but all in all I enjoyed this fast paced quick read.

I listened to this book on audio.
Simple plot-“bad” guy attempts to go good only to be thwarted by reality. The quick rise after the main characters fall was a bit unbelievable. The progression of relationships sometimes seemed to move really quickly. All thoughts of redemption and religion are put on the shelf.

The Characters motivation was transparent, plot was simple and this was a quick listen.

However, the narration was either slow and painfully deliberate or quick, clipped and sophomoric in its delivery. Glossing over events and poor transitions left you wondering how you got from point A to D and not touched on B & C.

This was a quick read. A little too quick for my liking. When Maria died, I'm wondering what happened to Tanisha? Where did she go? Did she stay until the police came? She was already conflicted whether or not she should stay with Breeze, but after being basically tossed to the side for weeks, she should've just told Breeze's mom that it was over instead of waiting until he got locked up again. I don't know. I thought it was just too crazy. Biggs was supposed to been put a hole in Mannie for even associating with Breeze. But I guess...

SPOILER!!!
Enjoyed the book, but I can't believe it ended that way. I hope there will be a second part. Biggs got what he deserved, I don't understand how people bring innocent children into their beefs. I'm glad Junior didn't get hurt, and. Trixy finally told Breeze he was is son. I think he did the right thing taking the blame for what Trixy did. Their sin won't grow up without his mother, but at the same time he doesn't have his father, and neither do his kids with Maria.

Wow! What a turn of events. I guess Breeze got sucked up and lost in the streets. He landed right back in jail and I wish the book did not have to end that way. Trixy should not be with Breeze but it should be Tanisha instead. Breeze will miss out on 3 of his kids life, especially Maria's kids. No parents... now that's tough. I'm the end, "Notorious" Biggs got what he deserved.

The story itself is probably 3* - typical urban fiction - sex, drama, some humor.

However, the audiobook made this rise to another level. The narrator is so strong at all the voices, making this a fast listen. Someone give this narrator another narrating job stat!

Book started really good then stalled towards the middle. Tanisha was kind of left by thwle wayside after Maria died. The story seemed a bit rushed.
