Learning Curves

Rate this book
In the cutthroat business of network news, thin is in, and Shelly Piper's size-twelve curves relegate her to behind-the-scenes reporting. But even network exec Jack Halloran has image problems. Jack's judged too handsome to handle the real news. So Jack launches his own news show on Denver's public television station and hires Shelly as his coanchor. But while Jack and Shelly work together on down-and-dirty hard news stories, all Shelly can think of is Jack...until the ratings come in. Viewers are demanding a thinner Shelly.

Shelly has come too far to lose her job -- or a dress size.

How nice to have a romance novel where the heroine is a size 12 and pretty OK with it (at times still angry with how other people judge her, especially in her quest to become a TV anchorwoman, but on the whole happy to be herself). The sizzle factor on this novel's pretty low for a Harlequin; it really reads like chick-lit more than steamy romance.

Nice easy read. Pokes the reader a little to question what values one automatically assigns to others based solely on their physical appearance. Also raises the question of pushing our own beliefs and crusades on to the people around us rather than accepting and supporting them. Still not sure how I feel about the ending but I will leave that to you to discover and decide for yourself.

Shelly Piper is a size 12 in the teeny world of t.v. news. When she lands an anchor job with sexy Jack Halloran on his new PBS weekly show, she's ecstatic and she also falls in love with Jack. Jack also fall for her even though she's a huge 12 with curves. Not completely believable but okay, some sex.

This is a pretty enjoyable book. It is a Harlequin, so there is the requisite smut, but I liked it.

Amazing read, especially if you are NOT a size 2 and under. Cindi Myer gives real life situations life. She illustrates what every girl/woman goes through most of her life.
