About the author

Philip Graham Ryken is Senior Minister of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, where he has preached since 1995. He is Bible Teacher for the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, speaking nationally on the radio program Every Last Word. Dr. Ryken was educated at Wheaton College (IL), Westminster Theological Seminary (PA) and the University of Oxford (UK), from which he received his doctorate in historical theology. He lives with his wife (Lisa) and children (Joshua, Kirsten, Jack, Kathryn, and Karoline) in Center City, Philadelphia. When he is not preaching or spending time with his family, he likes to read books, play sports, and ponder the relationship between Christian faith and American culture. He has written or edited more than twenty books, including Bible commentaries on Exodus, Jeremiah, Lamentations, and Galatians.

This book by current President of Wheaton College was published upon my entrance to Wheaton as a freshman in 1999. I was delighted to listen to the audio book twenty years later. While more theological than narrative, its insights increased my admiration for the President Ryken's integrity of character. I'm pleased that Wheaton continues to be guided by godly leaders.

A excellent and unique study of the attributes of God. The author uses stories directly from the Bible to explain the attributes of God that are mentioned in Question 4 of the Westminster Shorter Catechism: God is a Spirit, Infinite, Eternal and Unchangeable in his Being, Wisdom, Power, Holiness, Justice and Truth. An enjoyable study for both the person that is new to the Bible and for the seasoned Christian.

Pretty good introduction to the attributes of God. It is nice to go back to the basics.

Excellent, simply told bible stories (well referenced with the scriptures) and solidly inferred truths about the character of God. No pretensions to rocket science theology, but very helpful reminders of who God is and what he has done.
