Beautiful dark-skinned Veronica Martinson is co-owner of a successful oceanfront hotel. Her life could not get any sweeter. But, when the aunt who has been a mother to her dies, she begins to yearn for more. Organized, driven and headstrong, Veronica is left with doubts about her personal life. She contrives a plan to get artificial insemination. The only problem is she cannot seem to find a match. The hotel has a costume charity auction and Veronica's bid wins her an evening with a man dressed as a cop--Mark Latten. Her search ends, when she decides brown hair, blue-eyed Mark, her best friend and co-owner, would be the perfect father. The only problem is he refuses to assist her unless they conceived the child the old-fashioned way, beginning with a ring. Veronica, who has always reached every goal she has set out to achieve, views the wedding to her friend as a snag in her overall plan. Unable to deny herself the baby she wants, they marry and becomes pregnant. Struggling with her own inadequacies, Veronica attempts to push Mark and the child away. Until the night, she's faced with losing everything and realizes that sometimes dreams are fulfilled in unlikely packages.
This one was a pretty good one aside from all of the "spelling issues" I liked the story. I was very interested in what would happen with Veronica and Mark. There were a few things that surprised me a bit, but it was all good. The HEA was pretty good, but it all just kinda seemed too "put together" in a perfect little bow and that kinda was ehh for me. Mark is the "perfect" flawed guy. He was very, very patient and giving but was able to do this without coming off as a push over. He is a cultured, well rounded, good natured, good looking, sexy guy. He has goals and knows what he wants. He's just very compassionate, and confident in who he is and what he does. And there is something very sexy about a man who is not intimidated by a woman who is the same way. Mark's character is very well developed and well written. Although the premise of the story was suppose to be mainly about Veronica and her experiences, Mark IMO certainly stole the show. If you want a quick, heartfelt read I recommend this one. If you can tolerate the mis-spelling!
This story took a really long time to get going....like 100 pages, I really almost stop reading it early on. The saving grace was really the hot love scenes. They were really on point. I think if the story would have started with the death of Veronicas aunt, and then skipped to Roni and Mark's relationship it would have been better. I would have liked to read more about their growing relationship with Alyssa, and what happened after they had their first child together. The book was ok, but not one I'd recommend.
More like a 2.5...OKAY read...with a sometimes ANNOYING heroine...LOADS of typos and/or editing issues...but IF you can get past all that...it eventually turns out to be a CHARMING romance with a few SPICY scenarios...but DEFINITELY not my favorite from this author.
Loved this book. Veronica was a bit of a 'I wanna choke you out good and proper' person but I grew to love her non da less. Mark was my dream BF/hubbster, who I loved like a boss. One of the best & first good reads of the new year :)
A really good book;I completely understand the female lead and T love Mark ever constant and understanding, the plot was well developed with the hurdles that needed to cross in the name of love. P.S.
