Truly loved reading this book. The female protagonist has her hang-ups, but her man truly loves her and proves that he is in it for the long haul. I fell in love with this couple and only wish that their story lasted longer but even the best books have to come to an end sometime:(

Do Me Right by Lisa G. Riley is a romantic story about love, trust, family and finding out who you are. It's about childhood memories that hold us back in adulthood. It's about the new relationships we form as adults. Kendra Masters and Sloan Johnson have been together for four years and are headed to the alter. Only problem is that there are a few road bumps in their way. Kendra and Sloan seem to have everything there the perfect couple. They are good-looking, sexy, and have successful careers while living in a fabulous home on the Gold Coast of Chicago. They have an incredibly satisfying sex life. But as the saying goes all that glitters is not always gold. Despite being in love and wanted to spend the rest of their lives together their major trust issues in the relationship. Kendra has abandonment issues from her childhood and even as an adult her mother is constantly passive aggressively suggesting that Sloan may not be there for her in the future. Sloan has never done anything to even suggest he would leave Kendra and he really resents the way she doesn't fully trust him. Sloan wants to help her stand up to her mother's unfounded accusations. Kendra does speak up, but her mother is her mother and a strong force in her life. She also feels that she has made progress since they first started dating. She feels she can overcome her insecurities on her own. In the meantime Sloan has problems of his own at work when it comes to trust when he discovers that somebody has been forging his name to embezzle from a client. Having been the one who hired the people that work for him he feels betrayed. He wants to handle finding the thief on his own.
I think readers will find the characters very relatable. Lisa G. Riley gives us multidimensional characters that are supported by great secondary characters that are there to lend an ear and give advice to Kendra and Sloan. Kendra us like a lot women. Secure in her career, but insecure in her love life. Kendra may be a neurotic heroine, but there are women like her out there. You might see yourself in Kendra. Or you might have a girlfriend or sister or aunt like her. And many of us have to deal with overbearing parents who aren't above emotional blackmail to keep us from growing up and asserting our independence. Now went all wish we had a man as patient, sexy and loving as Sloan. And we all know that trying to keep our patience with a person as insecure as Kendra would get on anyone's nerves. So it's really easy to engage with these characters to cheer when things go well or get angry and frustrated when they go wrong. You want this couple to make it and Lisa G. Riley takes you on quite a ride with getting Kendra and Sloan to the alter.

I'd read another one of her titles. The book contains some of the sexiest descriptions. I didn't find the main character neurotic and neurotic, I typed that twice because the blurb definitely got across the message that she is neurotic and neurotic but I didn't find her that way, in fact it's always nice to read a female character who is matched with the male one fully as opposed to the shy woman and the confident man and he's always talking and she doesn't- for me opposites do not attract. The plot to be honest didn't interest me that much because I'm not in that stage myself but it's a book I will come back to later for that purpose as well as to be read something witty, erotic and full of character.

I really did enjoy this book. I liked having the story start already with Kendra and Sloan already in a long term relationship and nearing marriage. Yes, Kendra had major trust issues that were a bit unrealistic, but you never felt like there was any doubt in her love and she stood up and protected him when she needed to. There was the obligatory break up I've ready way too often for my tastes, but the resolution worked and the two really were a great couple throughout the book.
