This work is addressed to two classes of readers. From both of these alike the translator begs sympathy and co-operation. The Anglo-Saxon scholar he hopes to please by adhering faithfully to the original. The student of English literature he aims to interest by giving him, in modern garb, the most ancient epic of our race.

So technically I did not read this whole book. Only eight popular parts from it but I need it to count because I am way behind on my reading goal. My review is that I liked it and thought it was interesting. The fight with Grendel’s mother felt like a fever dream.
don’t have much to say about this i read it for school and not even the full thing just parts but i’m counting it for my reading goal. it was cool ig 🤷♀️ i do really like viking stuff so now i wanna read more books with vikings in it!
