I have read the book of Jiri Kulhanek, The bloody way, mainly because I needed a break from the Jo Nesbo series, with his anti-hero. The book has great start, almost amazing. I enjoyed the jokes of the author, his hero and the book had great pace in the beginning. I liked the hero and he seemed to be quite believable, at least in the first half of the first book.
Since that the book started to deteriorate a bit. It changed the genre from the funny post-apocalyptic scifi to something like not so much intelligent, less funny action-survival-horror-slash. And the second volume continued in this trend. Still I have to say I have enjoyed it quite much.
The main hero can not be killed, the things he has survived could not have been survived, but still he did,… And the book with a promising start was changed into weaker junk book. Still, quite nice relaxing book for those who do not mind gallons of blood, some brains flying around and hundreds, thousands of empty case cartridges.
I have read the third, unofficial and not authorized third volume, not written by Kulhánek – and honestly, the new author has continued in the style so well, I would not be able to recognize the author change. Honestly, the books have needed some ending and they got it by this third volume, so I am satisfied now.
In case you look for high quality books, reduce the valuation by 50-60 percent.
