Jake's Choice

Rate this book
One choice will change everything...

Jake Taylor had it all. California good looks, popularity, star athletic skills, and the hottest girl on his high school campus. Then, the tragic death of his childhood friend turned his life upside down and challenged him to make a difference in the lives of lonely, hurting teens.

Now, having graduated from high school with a newfound faith and a basketball scholarship, Jake heads to Louisville to begin life as a college student. But in doing so, he must leave behind his long-time girlfriend Amy Briggs and the supportive influence of his mentor and friends.

Separated by thousands of miles, Jake and Amy find their lives moving in very different directions. Befriending a young girl with a traumatic secret leads Amy back to the father who had abandoned her. Jake's position on the Louisville basketball team lands him in the midst of parties, beautiful women...and one choice that will shake him to the core. When everything he believes is challenged, Jake begins slipping away from his faith--and into the lifestyle he thought he'd left behind. Will Jake's struggle cost him his relationship with Amy? Will he succumb to everyone's expectations or stand alone for what is right?

This book picks up a few months after where To Save a Life left off. Jake took the fall semester off from Louisville to stay with Amy while she has the baby. So Jake heads off to Louisville for spring semester. And Amy starts community college. The distance is this young couple’s biggest obstacle, and it proves to be too much.

Ug! This book was hard to read! It was good. It really was. But it was so hard to watch Jake fall on his face. I cringed a lot. There aren't a lot of books out there that accurately portray college life. The authors did an excellent job. It’s a tempting place for young people. If you aren't prepared and careful, it’s very easy to fall. I recommend this book for readers who loved To Save a Life, and for those of you who are about to head off to college. This should get you thinking about the choices ahead.

This book jake's choice is one of the best. It started out when Jake arrives for college he gets lost. Him and his dad unpack his stuff and take his stuff up stairs and walk into the girls dorm room. They stand their a while and then leave they head back up stairs and finally find the guys dorm room. That's when one of the guys greets him and introduces him. He asked where his room was and went in and saw that their was stains on his bed and clothes scattered around everywhere. If you what to know more about the book you will have to read it your self. Didn't know if the second book could ever top the 1st book, it did!! Once you tackle the first 3 chapters the book gets so great and everything that happens takes you on an emotional roller coaster. At times i became so angry at the characters in the book i had to put it down and take a deep breath, then of course pick it back up quickly to continue reading and discover what happens next. This book makes you think a lot about life and people and both the first and second book changed my perspective on how to treat people and the things life may throw at you.

I've read over 100 books the past year any many more before that and I must say this is one of the best books I have ever read and I would highly encourage people to read the series I am just starting number 3 now but if it's even half as good as the other 2 it will have been well worth the time and energy I put in to read this book and they are not all that long all under 400 pages if I remember correctly I've read the first two in less than two weeks I could not put it down.

Getting soft-hit in the face with reality on this one...

The dialogue and inner-thoughts here are so realistic and familiar it's possibly spoiled me for any future books. I'm not sure I've ever felt such empathy or jubilation for a fictional character before, and that's saying a lot, because most books I feel nothing for the character at all.

VERY good book. Not as good as the first but it still got me to do a lot of thinking. I loved it. It Reminded me of the parable of the lost son where he lost his way and found it again. I even found some facebook worthy quotes. My favorite characters were definitely Grant and Buddy

This book is one of hype few that I have taken the time to reread.
Reading this series had given me insight into how to best relate and try to never stand the struggles that many of the middle and high school sutdents I work with are going through.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are wonderfully written and real. You could not only understand, but feel their struggles and their joys. I definitely recommend this story and hope there will be a next one.

Also a good book. In Christain stories, no one messes up very bad. That is unrealistic. We as humans will make mistakes. Sometimes small other times big. This book shows that even if you made mistakes there is forgiveness and healing.
