Michal Shalev (Hebrew: מיכל שלו) is an Israeli author and lawyer born in the United States.
Born in the United States. At the age of one, she immigrated to Israel with her parents, and grew up in Kiryat Ono. After completing her law studies at Tel Aviv University, she began practicing law. First she published two books under a pseudonym ("Elizabeth Sands"), published by Zamora Beitan.
I chose this as my second full-length novel to read in Hebrew, after ארבעה בתים וגעגוע (which I loved). Unfortunately, I found it a bit of a disappointment. All the characters sound the same, whether or not they come from different centuries, and all the action that might be of interest either fails to materialize or happens off-screen. The principal figures are artists, but the discussion is decidedly prosaic, whether the subject is how to further a career or how to get a relationship started. I eventually abandoned the book about halfway through. Had I tackled it in English, I probably would have seen it through to the end just to see how everything worked out, even though promising plot turns had already been dropped along the way. However, I just didn't love it enough to muddle through.
So... pretty much the same as the horses one, but a different time in history and the story is a bit different. But only in the details, not in the crux of it.
