Clone Troopers in Action – “What a huge army! These are clone troopers. Every soldier is the same. The soldiers are human, but they wear armor that makes them look like robots.” (p4)
“Will they rise again to fight the valiant Rebels?” (p31) ..
This was one of the better DK Readers Star Wars books that I read with my toddler. At first, it didn't appear to be telling the Star Wars story but through the explanation of the clones and how they changed the tale unraveled. My toddler liked reading about Obi-Wan Kenobi and seeing where the clone troopers started.
CLONE TROOPERS IN ACTION is part of DK's STAR WARS collection. This particular book is at the 3rd Grade Reading level. These books are just great for boys and girls and frequently get that reluctant reader to sit down and practice.
There are 676 words in this book and lots of full color photos from the movies. Here's the text from the first page.
What a huge army! These are clone troopers. Every soldier is the same. The soldiers are human, but they wear armor that makes them look like robots.
From there the author talks about how Obi-wan was the first to see the Clones and that all of the clones are copies of Jango. She even covers how scientists grow the babies in glass jars. On from there the book discusses how the Emperor changed the Troopers from good guys to bad guys.
This is a nice practice reader that will no doubt get a work out in classrooms and be popular at home. The focus is Clone Troopers but children will also see quite a few of the central characters, like Chewbacca, Leia, Yoda and Darth Vader, and they will see star fighters, walkers and more.
