Over ten years ago my husband and I were driving from Chicago to Tampa and somewhere in Kentucky I remember seeing a billboard that was all black with five white words, “I do, therefore I am!” I’m certain that it was a Nike ad, but for me I found this to be completely profound.
Take running for example. Most will say that a runner is someone who runs five days a week and runs under a ten minute mile pace. Well, I can tell you that I never run five days a week and on my best days my pace is an eleven minute mile. I have run quite a few half marathons and one full marathon. No matter what anyone says, I am a runner. I do, therefore I am.
I’ve taken this same thought and applied it to so many areas of my life: cooking, gardening, quilting, and yes…writing.
I may not be culinary trained, but I love to cook and my family and friends loves to eat my food. I cook, therefore I am a chef!
My thumb is not black. I love to grow herbs, tomatoes, roses, and lavender. I garden, therefore I am a gardener!
I love beautiful fabrics and I can follow a pattern. My triangles may not line up perfectly…but who cares, my quilts are still beautiful when they are finished. I quilt, therefore I am a quilter.
I have been writing my entire life. It is my husband who finally said, “Who cares if people like your books or not? If you enjoy writing them and you love your stories…then write them.” He has always been my biggest fan and he was right. Being a writer has always been my dream and what I said I wanted to be when I grew up.
So, I’ve told you who I am and what I love to do…now I’m going to tell you the why.
I have two boys that are three years a part. My husband and I want to instill in them adventure, courage, and passion. We don’t expect them to be perfect at things, we just want them to try and do. It’s not about winning the race, it’s about showing up in the first place. We don’t want them to be discouraged by society stereotypes, we want them to embrace who they are and what they love. After all, we only get one life.
In the end, they won’t care how many books I actually sell…all that matters to them is that I said I was going to do it, I did it, and I have loved every minute of it.

Drops of Rain (Hale Brothers Series #1) by Kathryn Andrews
4.5 stars!!
One of my favourite things about blogging in general is coming across brand new authors and finding a little gem and this book is more than a gem, it is a little diamond. This book is full of my favourite things…”feels,” this book makes you feel a lot. It is emotional, it is angsty, it is sad in places but it is so adorable, you cannot help but fall in love with the characters and the smattering of wit throughout the book balances it perfectly. I just absolutely loved it…hard!! For a debut author, Kathryn Andrews has nailed this one and it was a privilege to read such a beautiful and emotional story.
This is a story about Ali Rain and Drew Hale, but this is more than a story, this is a journey and one that will stay with me for a very long time.
Ali Rain is overwhelmed with grief, not only is she still coping with the death of her mum, but she is also in a way dealing with losing her dad too. Her dad has shut down after the loss of his wife so Ali feels totally alone and to compound matters, in an effort to mitigate his grief her dad has moved them from their family home to Florida. Ali now has to deal with the loss of her friends and starting a new school on top of everything else. She really does feel abandoned; she is extremely sad and totally overwhelmed. But Ali does have inner strength and despite her inner turmoil she puts on a brave front. Her form of escapism is dancing, she is a very talented ballerina and she is also a runner to keep herself fit. It is while running on the beach she comes across Drew Hale, but will this be the only time their paths cross?
Drew Hale is the typical popular guy that all the others want to be, the guys want to be like him and the girls just want to be with him. But his “popular guy” demeanour is just a front, a mask. Drew shies away from forming attachments, he has one goal and one goal only and that is to complete school and get the hell away from home. His swimming is his meal ticket out and nothing and no-one will come between him and his end goal, unless…
Drew and Ali keep bumping into each other, turns out they are neighbours as well as both attending the same school. He has his early morning swims in the ocean and she runs along the beach, it is this routine that leads them to a friendship but Drew is determined not to get emotionally involved. He can’t afford attachments, he needs to escape but sometimes your heart and your head have different agendas.
This is a story about young love, it is a powerful story and as I said extremely emotional. Both Ali and Drew are broken souls, Ali through her loss and Drew because…I am not going to say, you will just have to read it, but it is extremely sad. Drew has a lot of weight, guilt and burden on his shoulders, totally unfounded and unwarranted but he is that kind of person. He was a truly beautiful character, inside and out.
Nothing could prepare Drew for the emotional relief that he would feel when he finally opened himself up, he took a huge chance with Ali, one that he wasn’t sure if he would come to regret, but with her and only her, he could finally be himself. He didn’t have to wear that mask, didn’t have to put up that front and he could finally just be Drew. This two really are each other’s soul mate, the development of their relationship was beautiful to read and really pulled at your heart strings. They have a lot of obstacles to overcome if they are to truly make a go of it, but with their foundations that they have slowly built I was eager for this couple to succeed. Life has many plans; I just hoped that “life” wouldn’t get in the way of true love.
I have to mention Drew’s brother Beau, he was another amazing character and I cannot wait to read his book. His injection of wit and humour totally lightened up this book and his “brotherly” relationship too with Ali was endearing and heart-warming. Beau is Drew’s younger brother, but these two have a strong connection and again goes to show the true bonds a family have.
In summary, I totally and utterly loved this book, I cannot recommend enough and Kathryn Andrews is definitely an author I will be watching avidly. For a first in series and a debut book, this book was fantastic. I was totally gripped from first to last page; I had tears of sadness and tears of laughter but most of all it was an emotional journey and one that I will not forget. My heart felt every word and that is no mean feat by any author. Well done Kathryn on an amazing story.

Macie czasami tak, że o niektórych książkach ciężko Wam pisać? Że podobały Wam się tak bardzo, że trudno jest znaleźć odpowiednie słowa, które opisywałyby Wasze odczucia? U mnie „Krople deszczu” są jedną z takich książek.
Ot zwykła młodzieżówka. Przeczytałam już kilka podobnych. Dwójka młodych ludzi, których świat nie jest tak kolorowy jak z początku mogłoby się wydawać. Klasyczne New Adult. Jednak… jest coś w tej historii urzekającego. Coś, co na pewno nie pozwoli mi zapomnieć o bohaterach i ich historii.
„Krople deszczu” opowiadają o Ali i Drew. Ali ma za sobą ciężkie doświadczenia, w ostatnim czasie życie jej nie oszczędzało i razem z ojcem przeprowadza się do nowego miejsca, by poniekąd odciąć się od przeszłości. To właśnie tam poznaje Drew, tajemniczego chłopaka, który ukrywa swoje prawdziwe „ja” i nie pozwala sobie na uczucia. Drogi tych dwojga krzyżują się, a oni sami nawet nie wiedzą jak mogą sobie nawzajem pomóc.
„Krople deszczu” to nie tylko romans. To książka, która porusza wiele ważnych tematów. Nie chcę Wam zdradzać zbyt wielu szczegółów, ale mamy tutaj do czynienia między innymi ze stratą bliskiej osoby czy z miłością i oddaniem między rodzeństwem. Autorka zafundowała nam prawdziwą karuzele emocji, pośrodku której stoją nasi bohaterowie starający się rozwiązać problemy, poradzić sobie z uczuciami i otaczającą rzeczywistością.
Z całego serca polecam Wam tę powieść ❤️

I had the privilege of Beta reading this beautiful book.
From the very first page I felt connected to the characters and I can't stop thinking about them even now.
There were parts that made me smile stupidly to myself, to the point where my husband wanted to see what I was reading because of the silly grin. Then there were others that broke my heart and had me holding my breath, teary eyed.
Ali and Drew's story restored my faith in true love, and that it is worth fighting for. Nothing in life is easy, people always have baggage and things going on in their personal lives that they hide away from view.
Ali is trying to cope with a devastating loss and accept her new life in a new town and all alone. Drew is living from day to day in an almost robotic state of existence. He's counting down the days until he can finally leave. The couple meet and slowly but surely begin to form a friendship that develops beyond what the other was expecting. They become each others life line. I was so enamoured with Ali & Drew's story that once i'd started to read it, I couldn't put it down.
The author has done a beautiful job of drawing you in and making you feel every single emotion her characters are portraying.
This is the first book in the Hale Brothers Series and I am eagerly awaiting the second one now.
A perfect late summer read, 5 Beautiful Stars.

3.5 Heartfelt Stars
As a debut, this was a good book about two young adults that got dealt a bad hand in life. Two young adults that suffered from the unfairness of life, forced to grow up way too fast, while falling head over heels for another along the road...
"Two words.... eight letters that have forever changed my life." ~Ali
Young Ali lost her mother, her best friend, her home, and in a sad way her father, all within a few weeks. Forced to leave her home, Denver, behind, she and her dad move to sunny Florida where she ends up being the neighbor to the famous Hale's brothers. Ali a talented ballerina, Drew a swimmer - both using their talents to escape from life.... Drew for a different reason than Ali.
Her start at the new school among spoiled rich kids wasn't easy, especially not while still grieving the loss of her mother and an absent father. Meanwhile, she and Drew seem to bump into each other way too often for his taste. He knows he can't get involved with anyone, especially not a girl. Swimming is his ticket out of this hellhole, away from his father. Little did Ali know who her neighbor truly is; all she knows is that he swims every morning in the ocean while she runs along the beach. Both establish somewhat of a friendship.
"No one. I'm no one." ~Drew
That's his way of blocking out people so no one gets too close to him. Drew, despite being the popular kid that girls want to have and boys want to be like him, he's very quiet and keeps to himself - unless when he's around his brother. He tried his best but Ali seems to pop up everywhere and he can't help but feel very protective of her. He can't fight against their pull any longer. He seeks Ali's friendship; their closeness, their time together, her smile, good heart and mind. She gives him hope and only with her he lets his mask down showing who he truly is. Because all this time, no one saw what a broken young man he is....
"Ninety-five percent of the day I have to wear a mask to cover up the truth. No one really want to know the truth. The truth is ugly, and every day I feel ugly." ~Drew
Ali gets him, she truly does and same goes for Drew; these two are each others rock, shoulder to lean on to to just let go. I really enjoyed their story, how they met, which obstacles they had to fight and overcome. I felt like Sherlock Holmes when I figured out who will be the leading characters in book two LOL. As a debut it was well plotted and written. It was bittersweet to read through their pain and how certain people made their life unnecessary hard.
As for why I rated it 3.5 stars (which is still pretty good in my eyes) was because it had too many cliches in it. You have the hot "I wanna be like them" pretty boy who has some serious problems back home but seems to be star in school, the bitches who hate all girls, especially the new ones, and you've the newbie at school who turns head, boys are curious about, but eventually falls for ..... You know what I mean; it was a bit predictable but nevertheless well written and their problems believable - remember, I'm a picky romance reader & reviewer!
If I'd recommend this lovely book? Totally! I will definitely read the second book in the series because I'm curious about Drew's brother, Beau, and his story.

You know what I mean; it was a bit predictable but nevertheless well written and their problems believable - remember, I'm a picky romance reader & reviewer!
If I'd recommend this lovely book? Totally! I will definitely read the second book in the series because I'm curious about Drew's brother, Beau, and his story.

I loved the story and characters of Drew,Ali and all of their friends but I hate Drew's mother ( she is week and selfish) and not to forget Ali's father?? he just wanish with no sorrow or regret..
Drew and Ali are strong and they give each other the strength to cope and to face the demons they must overcome to have their HEA.

smutna i piekna historia. moglabym czytac takie ksiazki w kolko i w kolko. on jest bardzo zraniony, on i jego rodzina. ona tez jest zraniona i razem ratuja siebie. ale ona go bardziej. wydawałaby sie ze sztampowo , ale nie. to sie nie nudzi. moge zawsze czytac takie historie...zwlaszcza gdy jest tak smutnie i pieknie napisane... cudo.

My first ARC book
I am glad to say that I'm not disappointed and also I loved it. Review will be posted on August 11th because I don't have the ability to do a review without spoilers. I can't wait to read about the other Hale brothers.

I absolutely loved it. The story is about Ali and Drew, who had to face the unfairness of life at very young age. The author delivered the emotions with excellence that I felt theirs as mine. I loved Ali’s special connection with dragon flies and Drew’s freedom feel with swimming. It makes the characters, their story, and emotions all so true and beautiful. Usually in a romance book I tend to fall in love with the characters but it is very rare when I fall in love with MC’s love itself. I experienced it in this book. Also Ali’s passion for her future, career is something that’s rare in YA novels these days.
This young love is powerful, compelling, emotional and overall incredible. And when I mean compelling I literally can’t watch, read, or do anything until I finish this book. Not only I loved the MC’s but also the other character like Drew, Matt and their friends circle too.
And about Ali, I loved her more than Drew. Now that’s rare for me especially in a romance YA novel. Drew grew up with his abusive father, while it’s hard at least he’s used to it. But for Ali, unfairness is thrust upon her immediately with no warning and she’s got to deal with a lot yet she’s strong with the strength from her late mother and Dragon flies. She concentrated on dance with passion. She never settles for less. When she thought Drew was being mean to her, she got hurt but she didn't abandon her passion or self-respect because of life's bitterness. She’s an amazing girl and I love her a lot.
I loved moments that involved the appearance of Dragon flies. I cherished those moments for a matter of fact. And the time when she killed and cried over it makes this story more real and beautiful. The author made me love Dragon flies now. I won’t ever be the same when I see a Dragon fly in my life again.
Never the less I love Drew too. He always looked out for his brother the way he knows. I can’t blame him for not acting against his father earlier because he’s grown into it and until the situation came he saw his swimming as his way out. Also he never hated his mother for not protecting them, which made me love him even more though I can't say same with his mother. Nevertheless his empathy towards Cassidy is amazing too. Deep down he's passionate towards swimming but it makes me a little because most he see it as an escape. I just wish his sorrow gets washed away. Good thing is that it does.
With Ali and Drew together I loved them, their relationship, also the little family created along the way.
But why 3.5 stars?
Here is the reason for that. I found Cassidy parts clichéd and Mean Girls drama. And the way Drew and Ali first met. I loved their progress in love but not their first meet. When I read that part I got a wee bit irritated to be honest thinking that this is going to be one those ordinary romance novels. But thanks to Kathryn Andrews for proving me wrong. For a début novel this is brilliantly written with amazing quotes.
And I know the most dreadful part yet to come in Drew’s life. While expected it to be dramatic ( which I never prefer it) it was written with reality and truth. And I am glad it happened to Drew after he met Ali, because I personally think without Ali he would never have the strength to stand against his father.
I just want to thank Kathryn Andrews for making my first ARC book experience as a beautiful one. This book will always hold a special place in my heart.

3 it just wasn't for me stars.
Drew and Ali are both teens dealing with drama and pain with the sole purpose of finishing High school so they can move on. But bumping into into each other wasn't part of the plan.
I've got to hold my hands up and say I skim read the second half of this book which I despise doing, but I did want to find out how it ended although I found it a bit slow.

Drops of Rain was a good read.
I really liked the characters in this, and i loved the bond between Ali, Drew and Beau.
I started to lose interest in this just under halfway, but the second half pulled it back, and i really enjoyed it.
Overall, a good romance read.
I'm looking forward to reading the second book.

1/10/15 - My dear Ms. Andrews, your writing was superlative! Loved Ali and Drew's story! This was more like a 4.5 star rating for me. I'm older, so I need a tad bit more heat. But, this is a Young Adult book so I guess that I saw enough intimacy.
Can't wait for Beau to now show us what he's got! He was a great supporting character. So, I'm looking forward to Leila and him finally getting it all together...
1/13/15 - Another angsty read for me. I just can’t seem to avoid distressing novels. The sadness. The love story that is built on heartache. But, this one was special. It was beautiful. It was fresh. It had me sighing and smiling. Why? Because both main characters were strong. They were brave. And, the life that they were dealt, was just not fair. Allyson Rain loses her mom to cancer, and with that her father picks up and moves them both clear across the country to Florida. He changes jobs to accommodate their new move. But, he deserts his daughter. While he’s off residing in a condo further away from his daughter trying to jump-start his new life, she’s trying to just breath every day. Ali is just so sad over the loss of her mother and her father can’t see what his absence is doing to her. Naturally with the new move comes a new school. New classmates. New teachers. And, of course, a new love interest. And, that’s when Drew Hale shows up. Quiet and gorgeous Drew. Taking everything in and not really having too much to say. He’s a sweetheart. A really nice guy. But, his life is less than perfect. What he and is family are hiding is a disturbing and heartbreaking secret. It affects the whole family both physically and emotionally. Drew and Ali accidentally meet at the beach one morning, and they’re both smitten with each other. But, it’s Drew’s terrifying secret that threatens to keep them apart. He can’t bear for Ali to know his embarrassing and painful secret. Aly is just so understanding, though. What could it possibly hurt to tell her his tormenting truth? It gets all messed up, however, and will Ali ever forgive Drew for hurting her so miserably?
So many poignant moments to this story. The words were beautiful and meaningful. A few times I just stopped, took a breath, and smiled. It was a feel-good book even though there were parts that were agonizing. It was a hopeful book. The main characters together were cute and sweet. Caring so much for each other. It was a little bit low on the heat factor, however. But, that was okay because it fit the dynamic of the novel. There were some tender moments, and then some of the intimacy was implied while the reader could get a feel for what was actually going on. Incredible prose that was beautifully depicted amongst the pages of an emotionally heartfelt story. So many intimate thoughts expressed privately among the two main characters. It was almost like they read each other’s minds. Loved this book so much!!! Just can’t express how I enjoyed these characters and their story. Looking forward to reading Beau’s story next. He’s the middle Hale brother. And, he seems to be quite a charmer...

There was so much to like about this book. The plot... Ali, a dancer grieving after the recent loss of her mother relocates to Florida with her absentee father where she meets Drew, a popular swimmer at her high school, who also happens to be fighting demons of his own. The characters, even the secondary ones, were really likeable.
The writing is good. With this being Kathryn Andrews debut novel, it was a refreshing surprise to see that she's a talented writer, without a doubt. There are certainly things that will come with time and experience, a bit of polishing of her writing style, but for a first time author, her writing pleasantly surprised me. This story doesn't read like a debut novel. The writing is really good, the story is captivating and interesting. The characters drew me in with their respective personal problems, their heartbreaking secrets and their individual personalities. The only sign that this story comes from a "newbie author" came with how wordy the story was at times. Sometimes the story felt a little drawn out, like I was waiting for something pivotal to the plot to happen. But for the greater majority of the book, it was a fluid read.
Despite my appreciation for the plot and the characters in this book, the pacing and the timing took away from my enjoyment of this book. For me, it felt so drawn out, like huge expanses of time passed by without anything pivotal to the story happening. It's hard to explain, but I just grew bored. I needed more action or more meat... something to keep me engaged. The author does a lot of telling, rather than showing. I reached a point in the story where Ali and Drew had apparently been together for six months. I knew this because I was told so, but I never saw it or felt it so I couldn't emotionally commit to this relationship. I can't believe in something I haven't seen build and grow. Another point, late in the story, Drew states that his mother knows about Ali... but again, when did that happen? When chapters would break and then pick up weeks later, I felt like I missed important facets in the build and development in the story. The dynamic between Drew and Ali was changing, growing, and I was missing it.
At times, I felt the characters were a bit oblivious on a level that took away from the believability of the story. Almost two months had passed and Ali didn't realize Drew lived directly across the street? Both were completely blindsided by the fact that despite their coexistence in roughly the same circle at school, that the other even knew their name. Ali never realized Drew sat directly behind her in class for weeks? I just found it all a bit unrealistic. The fact that these two people both happen to turn TWENTY soon, but are straight A students in high school is bizarre. I'm not sure what the point was of making these characters so old, yet still in high school, other than to make a sexual relationship seem appropriate and to make it believable that Ali is left on her own so long. Other than that, the story would have worked so much better if they'd been 17. Then the Cassidy situation took things a bit over the top for my taste. The setting up of the relationship by their parents, the expelling of Ali for the vandalism even though there were security cameras present the whole time... it was all a bit farfetched. I'm just one reader, but as this one reader, I prefer things to come across as believable, even in my fictional choices. Though minor in the grand scheme of things, these little details detracted from what has potential to be a really great story.

Important scenes (like the fight with Drew and his dad, Ali's audition) are rushed and completely glossed over, but other inconsequential scenes are detailed and seem to drag on and on. I was lucky enough to beta read this book and let me tell you it is simply amazing! I couldn't put it down once I started and read it cover to cover start to finish in one sitting!
This book had my emotions going on a roller coaster ride. There were times I wanted to scream and shout and times I couldn't read due to the tears steaming down my cheeks! I love the way this author is able to convey in a simple paragraph every emotion I could ever imagine.
Drew and Ali are two people brought together in a very unconventional manner yet these two tortured souls couldn't be more perfect for each other. Through their trials and tribulations they are able to be each other's rocks and help each other through their toughest times!
My shining star was Beau!!! I loved loved loved this character!!! His personality and relationship with "Tiny" (Ali) was absolutely precious!!!!

I really liked this book. From the very beginning you are pulled in and start going through Ally's journey with her. Her loss, her triumphs, and her experience with love. I was looking forward to her happily ever after and the Hale brother's. When Beau goes to her after the incident I couldn't help my eyes getting all teary eyed. Drew is a great guy and perfect for Ally. Beau omg Beau! I really can't wait until book 2 to know what's going to happen with him. Cassidy was a really good bad guy in this book and am glad she had to pay for her bad choices.

Even the second time around, this book still does it for me. I read Drops of Rain in mid-August, but was lazy and didn’t write my review at the time. Since it had been a bit of time, I decided to reread in order to write this review. I can say, even the second time around, it still pulled me in and didn’t let go. It was just as fantastic during a reread as it was the first time. Although I knew how it ended, it still made me feel that wide range of emotions that it did the first go around.
What I loved most about this book is that it didn’t have to try too hard. It’s your classic new adult romance, and I love that it is. It’s unique, the storyline is different enough that you’ll forever remember it, but what it all comes down to is the sweet story of two people that need each other. It has the romance and swoon worthy moments. In fact, it has A LOT of that. I can’t count how many times I found myself sitting here smiling from ear to ear. The things Drew Hale says…sigh. It also has your all-American high school drama. It has the perfect mean girl-type villain. Although it does have all of the elements that should make for a predictable story, the underlying issues with Ali and Drew will steer you in a completely unpredictable direction. I love that an author didn’t feel the need to add in a massive shock factor or crazy plot. Andrews wrote a real love story.
It is very sweet and very romantic. But it’s also so hopeful. Seeing two people who need someone else as badly as these two did, and to find it in one another, makes for the most gorgeous story. Ali and Drew are both so individually broken and lost. Neither are sure how to gain control of their lives, but they do just that with the help and love of each other. I really feel like this book touched on every single emotion you can imagine feeling. Love, heartbreak, anger, humor, protectiveness, pain, the list goes on and on. So many emotions, but the story wouldn’t feel complete without all of it. It all combines perfectly.
I also loved the connection the two had with each other, as well as the connection with Drew’s brothers, specifically Beau. It’s very much so Ali and Drew’s story, but you’ll care about the entire family by the end of it. You hurt when they hurt. You can tell when they’re in pain, and how much it hurts Ali. She’s not just an outsider, she’s a part of their family. It was a huge plus as far as I’m concerned that the author didn’t build the entire story around two characters, but rather a group of characters.
This is so silly, or maybe it’s not, but there’s one thing that stands out more than anything else in this book for me. Hopefully this isn’t a spoiler because if you’re reading a romance novel, this is bound to happen at some point in the book. When Drew tells Ali he loves her, he says it a certain way. He doesn’t make a huge sweeping declaration. He simply says, “Love you.” I swooned every single time. It made him real, in my opinion. Sure, those massive speeches all of our male leads give will make your tummy flutter, but how many of us can say we’ve ever honestly been on the receiving end of one of those? Not me. “Love you” is so very Drew Hale. It’s simple, direct, and no nonsense. It’s everything you need to know about that character summarized into 2 words. Told you, kinda silly but I loved it.
Overall, Drops of Rain is the classic tale of two lost teens finding their way through love. They both begin the story so lonely or with hidden secrets and guilt, but overcome many different obstacles and better themselves in the end. It’s beautiful, heartwarming, sad, but above all else, it’s just plain romantic. I loved it the first time, was reminded of how much I adored the characters the second time, and now I absolutely cannot wait to dive into Beau Hale’s world in Starless Nights. Yay for more of the Hale brothers.

I had the Pleasure of reading Drops of Rain ARC. It is a Beautifully written emotional story of Acceptance and Forgiveness.
We are taken on a journey of two tortured souls, known as Ali and Drew.
Not only do they find strength in one
another but also in themselves. The emotions jumped off the page at me to make me feel exactly what the characters were feeling at that moment in time. I found myself several times throughout the story with tears in my eyes and rolling down my face, from having lived some of exactly what these two young adults were living and going through. I connected with their characters.
The support characters were absolutely wonderful. I love Beau (i cant wait for his story)
This is a beautiful and well written story of accepting your past, living your present, to fulfill your future and live your dreams, and not letting anyone stand in your way. It's also about finding out you're not alone and that more people love you and accept you then what you sometimes think. You just gotta learn trust, accept and forgive yourself and others. Only you can control your Destiny.
Although this is not my normal genre, I truly enjoyed the read. I was afraid of how the story maybe written with teens in sexual situations. It was worded and
very well written. Its definitely a book i would let my teenager read.

I was given the privilege to Beta read this book by Breakthrough Author Kathryn Andrews. This book is told in dual POV of both lead characters Ali and Drew.
Ali moves to Florida after a great loss in life. She has to figure out how to move on and keep one foot in front of the other. She has goals and really just wants to start reaching for them. Is she willing to open herself up again? Can she stay strong and keep moving forward?
Drew has always kept to himself. He is counting down the days until he can finally leave one life and start the next. Can he share his secret with someone else? Can he open his heart when he holds the worlds responsibility's on his shoulders??
This is a great love story of two very broken people. They end up being the glue the other needs to glue back the pieces. Ali even becomes the glue Drew's family may need at the end of the day.. I loved this story from page one all the way to the end. One minute I was laughing at the funny banter between Ali and Beau and the next my heart was breaking! What a great debut novel! I cant wait for the next one and hope we get more about this great pair! I need to know what the next few years will hold for Ali and Drew!

AMAZING, BRINGS OUT MANY EMOTIONS WHILE READING: ANGER, SADNESS, HAPPINESS, LOVE! If a book can tear at your heart then make your heart smile - you know it is a good one.
Kathryn Andrews is an extremely talented author and is able to have you go through a roller coaster of emotions while reading. I personally know that when you read a book and tune out the world - the book is worth it!
A MUST READ. I have read so many romance novels, but this one is about realistic issues people face daily. I mean really, how many billionaires are out there in the world just looking for love.....Although I enjoy those books as well, I think the reason I truly loved this book was because it was based on our world issues today that families and kids face. From the beginning I was pulled in and found myself wanting more.
I HIGHLY SUGGEST THIS BOOK!! PUT ON YOUR TBR!! AUGUST 11th will be here before you know it and this will be one many will talk about.
I love the HALE brothers - wish I had one of my own!!!

Kathryn had me from page one! I had messaged one of my friends to yell at her because I was crying and I hadn't even started. This story is on heart breaks of two people that heal together as their love grows for each other.
Ali has lost a lot. After the death of her mother, her dad decides to move them from Colorado to Florida. Drew is the popular boy, athletic, a swimmer and a brother. Not a direct quote but every girl wants to be with him and every guy wants to be him but he has secrets. They meet on the beach of Anna Maria beach and their story starts. You find how much their life's change as they let each other in and fall in love. I love this book! I was full of tears and full of laughs. The emotions are still lingering and I can't begin to tell you everything but I have one of the biggest book hang overs. This is the first installment of the Hale brothers. One click the day it comes out and make sure the tissues are right next to you.

New-to-me-author Kathryn Andrews opens her debut book with an edgy and enticing story to begin this new series surrounding the Hale Brothers. I was captured by the storyline immediately and was so happy to learn that all three books were available and ready for me to read. And I did - back-to-back. The author started off powerfully and never lost strength as I closed the pages on the last book.
These book are written in a past/present style and the voices of the boys are strong and wise beyond their years. Their stories will break your heart as you watch the pain and agony that life holds for them, but their strength, loyalties, and mission will bring you joy as you experience the highs and lows alongside them.
I stumbled upon this series this weekend totally by accident. I was thrilled with the great hours of reading that Drew, Beau and Matt's stories brought me. I will be looking for more from this talented new author.

I became captivated by this beautiful love story! Ali and Drew are two mysterious characters that tell a story of how they fight through self-doubt while defining the words love and family. The author's descriptive writing is exceptional. I could not put this book down!

5 STUNNING & HEARTFELT STARS
Wow, just wow…Kathryn Andrews really brought to the forefront what some young adults deal with on a day to day basis. Whether it good or bad, it can be hard doing it alone.
When you feel like you are all alone, sometimes things get a little tough.
Drew and Ali…. Two young adults who have been handed their own horrible cards in life need to find a way to make things work for themselves and maybe with each other.
Dragonflies are known to live their lives to the fullest. Whenever you see one, I want you to hear me saying, It’s time to let go.” Seek out some happiness because you, my darling girl, deserve to live each day smiling with not only your eyes, but your heart too.
Their story was so believable. The issues they faced, the circumstances they were in.
The struggles they both go through were heartbreaking.
The peace they found in each other was beautiful.
Ali is having a hard time dealing with the loss of her mother and the absence of her father and the fact that she has moved to a new state and a new school just puts that added pressure on her. The grief she feels is heartbreaking. She is counting the days of the loss of her mother, like it will bring her solace. She feels so alone and tries to move on, but her feelings of loneliness are always present. But she holds her head up high and is smart, witty sassy and funny.

Drew is living a dual life. One completely different from the other. His home life is deplorable and traumatizing. His school life as Mr popular doesn’t feel real to him. Girls love him, he is gorgeous and sexy being on the swim team keeps him fit. Drew keeps to himself, even though he is popular, he doesn’t want people to know him, to know what he’s going through or his secrets. He feels bad enough about himself as it is, he doesn’t need his friends to feel sorry for him. He carries his secrets heavily in his heart and his mind. He’s just counting down the days until he’s out of there. College can’t come quick enough.

"Ninety-five percent of the day I have to wear a mask to cover up the truth. No one really wants to know the truth. The truth is ugly, and every day I feel ugly."
His self-worth is completely broken as he has constantly been told he is “good for nothing” and “worthless” by his sickening and repulsive father who I just wanted to kick upside the head and get rid of him.

"No one. I'm no one."
The way these two meet and their ongoing connection was really surprising. Drew’s struggle with his feelings and resistance to let someone in and Ali’s battle with her grief and loneliness. I loved the friendship and the angst between these two. I loved the confusion and surprises they both went through with each other.

She’s drawing me in and she doesn’t even know it. Ugh, I need to stay away from her.
Ali
I take a deep breath, not believing that Drew was here in my room twice in one day. I throw the pillow off and sit up. I was so caught up with the sight of him in my room that it wasn’t until just now that I even register the smell of him lingering in the air. Closing my eyes I breathe in the fresh cleanness of him.
How will these two heal each other?
Will Drew find his worth? Will Ali be that person he can turn to?
Will Ali begin to heal the grief in her heart? Will Drew be the one to heal her heart and be there for her?
I laughed and I cried for both Drew and Ali as well as Beau, Drew’s brother who plays a big part in this story. I loved Beau, his relationship with Ali was so delightful that it made me smile every time they were together. All the side characters within this story all felt so real within their circle. It was so uplifting to see friends stick together no matter what. I’m looking forward to reading Beau’s story so much, that I’m hoping I don’t have to wait too long.
I have to add here and admit, I read Promises Hurt by Elle Brooks before this and it has some similarities, even though the storylines are different, and yes this was a little predictable at times, but I still loved it. I loved that it made me feel. I loved that it had me connected with each character and their story.
A story of finding true love, and the person who is your soul mate. The one person worth fighting for and knowing they will fight for you – no matter what you have going on in your personal life, true love will always find a way.
I’m a sucker for a beautiful story of love, friendship, heartache and happily ever after.

The meaning here for me more than anything was friendship and love is the most valuable thing one could ever have in their lives. Having that is priceless.

3.5 stars. Ali Rain has just moved into town for her senior year of high school. Her mother passed away recently and her father doesn't know how to grieve so Ali is on her on for the most part. Because Ali is so caught up in her own little world, she doesn't recognize that her neighbor across the street, Drew Hale, has been watching her. He even sits behind her in class and watches her practice dance.
Drew is a fantastic swimmer but he doesn't want to get too close to Ali because he never gets close to anyone besides his 2 brothers and 2 best friends. Drew is a rather guarded character. He doesn't talk much, he seldom shares anything about himself and he focuses on school and swimming. However, Drew and his brother Beau are local celebrities because of their athletic abilities and their family is an example of high society for others to envy.
While I enjoyed the depth of the characters, some parts of this story were not really believable. Both Drew and Ali are 19 year old seniors in high school and the way Ali is so oblivious to Drew's existence when this guy is basically keeping an eye on her every move just doesn't seem like something she can easily ignore. When she's face to face with Drew, she's completely captivated by everything about him so how does she not notice that he's staring at her as intensely as he does when her back is turned, given their connection?
I liked the relationship of Drew and his brothers and Ali's friendship with them, too. Drew may not have been the most approachable or nicest guy, but I never thought he was a jerk. He's got his reasons for keeping his distance but in his heart, he's genuine and sincere. Cassidy's character was a bit over the top for high school, but her character served a purpose for the drama. The relationship development between Ali and Drew was well-paced and they had definite chemistry although their first encounter seemed more awkward to me rather than instant attraction. There's also a good underlying message about sacrificing for family and standing up for oneself in the face of adversity or danger.

He's got his reasons for keeping his distance but in his heart, he's genuine and sincere. Cassidy's character was a bit over the top for high school, but her character served a purpose for the drama. The relationship development between Ali and Drew was well-paced and they had definite chemistry although their first encounter seemed more awkward to me rather than instant attraction. There's also a good underlying message about sacrificing for family and standing up for oneself in the face of adversity or danger.

DNF@45% - I read in someone else’s review that this book was wanting to be deeper than it actually was and I find that to be completely true. I stopped a little less than halfway through and Drew’s situation hadn’t really been touched on with his father. I mean I guess there could be people out there like his father, but for the father to come downstairs and no provocation just goes in on his kids about how worthless they are. And then nobody says anything and even when he hits the brother, nobody does anything? I get that there are people out there that won’t do anything back from their attacker like that, but with all the talk that drew says about how protective he feels for his brothers and mother and then does and says nothing when his father goes off, doesn’t make sense to me. And his behavior even halfway through hadn’t been explained why he is so quiet in public and won’t talk to her. It all doesn’t make sense to me. Also, they both just so happened to be 19 and a day apart? That’s strange. Also, the whole drama with the mean girl. Come on, nobody is going to act like that and still be super popular like she is. The whole thing is stupid. I liked the whole first meeting and I thought the story would go somewhere but nope. I also didn’t like how the story would skim over things like all of a sudden it’s 3 weeks later or something and the author tells us about it and not showing us. And one tiny thing that annoyed and confused me was that he asks her to eat dinner with him and his brothers and I would think meeting his other brother for the first time and them all eating dinner together would be a significant scene but nope the author didn’t think so because that was skimmed over and skipped to the next week. Also, the POVs overlapped and I dont like that way of writing. It is confusing and we have to hear all the action again but with the other characters inner dialogue and it’s annoying. So definitely not for me.

This story takes place in Ana Maria Island, Florida which immediately piqued my interest. Ana Maria Island is one of my favorite places and one that my family visits quite often in the summers. It's such a perfect backdrop for this summer/beach read. Not to mention that the cover is beautiful!
High school senior and dancer Ali Rain (love the name) has moved from Denver to Florida with her father after the heartbreaking death of her mother. This is a "start over" type of move. Ali's entire life has changed which is difficult. Although her father makes the decision to move, he is definitely not involved in her life at all. He has somewhat checked out and buries himself into work. This sort of leaves Ali on her own.
Drew & Beau Hale are the golden boys of the school and very soon Ali realizes that the boy she encountered at the beach is Drew Hale. Drew is living behind a mask, but just really wants to be free. Meeting Ali rattled his emotions, but there is a part of his life Ali can't know about. However that's difficult with he and Ali attending the same school and living across the street from one another.
This is a wonderful story of young love. But often times love has it's hurdles. Drew & Ali have both had to deal with some tough emotional situations in their young lives and opening up isn't easy. That's until they decide to trust each other. The story brings out many heartfelt emotions that allow you to feel and care about these characters. There are some cliche moments in the story, and one character in particular who seemed to have no redeeming qualities. But it's a good story none the less. Drops of Rain (Hale Brother's #1) is Kathryn Andrews debut novel. It's definitely a solid read that I would recommend.
I am truly excited for Beau's story.

Drops of Rain started of promising. I was intrigued into what Ali was desperately try to overcome. Struck by a tragic event in her life, Ali and her father leaves behind all that she knew and moved to a remote island. Here, we see Ali trying to adjust and continue to try to understand her grief and loneliness.
One day she goes for a swim and in swims Drew.....
Instantly there seems to be connection between the two. Drew appears closed off and is very secretive. The most affection we got from him was with his brother and mother initially. When they both thought they would not see each other again, fate has a funny way of bringing two lost people together.
Overall, For Kathryn's debut novel it was ok. I will always give a thumbs up for anyone that is willing to put themselves out there for others to judge or appreciate a good story.
I felt that the story unfolded a little to slowly. It felt like the story dragged and in other scenes I wanted the author to elaborate on a dramatic or romantic scene.
The characters were just ok for me. Normally, I always have this love or hate relationship with characters however with Ali and Drew I just felt like shrugging my shoulders and saying 'ok'. I wanted more fight in them, I wanted them to love harder and speak up for themselves. At times when I should have felt sorry for what they were going through I felt nothing.
I did think that the author has a good writing style, I just wanted the connection and emotional switch to be switched on when I was reading Drops of Rain.
To Kathryn, I am sorry that I could not provide you with a better review and maybe this would be suited for someone else but for me it was a 3 star read~simply ok.

I was so kindly given this book as an ARC For an honest review. When I started this book I had not read the synopsis so I didn't know what the book was about but I will say as soon as I read the prologue I was hooked, Ali was so relatable so full of pain and yet you could feel her strength. As her whole life is rocked to its core by loss and moved to a whole new place she continues to show her strength. In swims Drew beautiful and broken shy and amazing. I tell you I could almost feel the chemistry coming off those 2 at their first meeting. To watch their story unfold and the small things throughout the book that have so much meaning the dragonflies the rain all have meaning that I won't spoil by saying what they are. Her relationship with Beau the younger brother was so very entertaining from the beginning Ali this tiny dancer and Beau this big also beautiful tennis star banter back and forth with their "facts" and one liners. I have to say I love their friendship and it made me laugh out loud.
Without giving spoilers away cause I want everyone to experience this beautifully broken story, I cried and laughed and felt connected and for me that is what makes a truly gifted Author! Thank you so very much Author Kathryn Andrews for allowing me to experience the first of what will be a beautiful series! This is what a debut novel should be like!
