An Unlikely Apprentice

Rate this book
We follow Rosette, a girl born around the time of the French Revolution. As a young girl, she is crippled by being hit by a wagon. One would think it is the end of her life, but it is just the beginning. Seeing the accident that disabled her, an alchemist living nearby offers to adopt her and teach her his art. At the same time, the reader also learns a bit too. As the Revolution heats up, Rosette escapes to Weimar in Germany where she meets Goethe and becomes his friend because he is interested in alchemy as well. This is an amusing story where one learns a great deal about the times, and the places.
