What do you do when you’ve lost everything you hoped for?

Volleyball was my way out. So now, instead of trying to get away from my small town, I’m just trying to escape the pain.

I don’t know how, but I went from never-been-kissed to kissing two guys in a week. Somehow I got the attention of the sweet guy with a sunshine smile and KELLUM Freaking WATTS.

Who is this girl who’s taken over my body and suddenly gets the guy?

And now I have to make a choice between the guy who will dream of a different future with me and the one I’ve been dreaming about.

The problem is, it’s hard to think of the future, when you’re just trying to survive the present.

I was given the opportunity by the author to read this book. I did not get a chance to read the first book but it didn't really take me long to catch on to what was actually going on with Skye. One thing that really bothered me in the book was the way her parents treated her I just didn't understand how they could treat her the way they did so that part was a little bit hard for me to understand I don't know if that's something I missed in the first book or what, but they were really not decent to her at all. I would say probably 75% of the book she was grounded. I did enjoy how the book ended how she overcame the battle that she had with a classmate in school, and overcame being hurt by a guy she thought was supposed to be her boyfriend but he just stopped, texting, or trying to get a hold of her in anyway he could, since her mother had broke her phone. So at the end when he finds out that she's dating a very nice gentleman that she met at a party he doesn't like it very well, but she told him she was leaving it as friends between them. She went to graduation and watched her senior friends graduate which was hard for her but knew that she was going to be there next year doing the same thing. She felt that her life was finally looking up, she had meant the right guy and things were going so much better than they ever had before. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes teen and young adult books. I thoroughly enjoyed this book very much, even without having read the first book. Thank you very much Kelsie for this opportunity to read and review your book. Stay tuned because there is more to come.

This is the second book in this series and I have to say, I haven't read the first one yet. The author said it shouldn't be an issue and she was right. In the beginning some things were a bit confusing, but once I really got into the story, I wasn't missing a lot.

I read Becoming Skye in one sitting. It sucked me right in from the start and that didn't stop when I was done. Skye wakes up in the hospital after surgery and she thinks her chance at a scholarship is shot because of her injury. I didn't realize how much of an issue this would be for her until getting further in the book. Her parents are awful to her and rather abusing. I can completely understand her wanting to get out.

Skye starts to find her escape in debate (another way for her to get a scholarship) and she meets a guy and gains a best friend. The boy she has been crushing on for ages even starts noticing her. That makes things complicated for her, because of previous incidents (which I believe happen in the first book).

I love the connection Skye has with her debating partner, best friend who lives far away and Andrew. Even if things are tough at home, she slowly finds a support system who is there for her. It was great seing her develop during this book. Skye starts out pretty insecure, but by the end she really does gain some confidence. The confidence her parents have been beating down.

The only reason this book didn't get five stars from me is because near the ending it's clear Skye still thinks to a certain point she needs a guy to make her happy. When things don't work out with one it's like she needs to dive right back in. I think after everything Skye went through and how strong she has become, a little time just being Skye would've been great. And I secretly hope she ends up with the crush at school she dates for a little while, haha.

All in all, I really enjoyed this and it was way too short. I can't wait to read more about Skye!

Becoming Skye #2 - Starts right after Skye gets out of the hospital and she's in her junior year of high school. Again, I don't care too much for this age group, but I love what Ms. Stelting can do with the written word. Her vivid descriptions, her characters and their dramas, and how things are handle with a bit of maturity, instead of the usual stupidity so common today for characters of many ages.

This story is clean and with no sexual misbehavor, just young soon-to-be adults trying to make the best of their situations and lives. Skye is determined to succeed and even when the cards are stacked against her, she doesn't fold and give in. She suffers the blow but comes back more determined and with new plans that she puts into action. Ms. Stelting also manages to edit her books with only a few errors, in this case, three words that should have been uppercase. 5*

Lonesome Skye #1 - I usually don't read much about this age group, but this is an excellent story about a high school junior and her trials. This is a well written, intriguing story filled with a gamut of emotions that keeps the reader rooting for the main character. All the characters are developing through out the story and I find their dialog realistic and mature instead of moronic. I didn't like the way the book ended, but I assume there's more to the story coming. It's not a cliffhanger, but I did want to keep following her story. I'm interested in reading more by this writer; plus she understands and practices proper editing. I do wish I had read this book before All The Things He Left Behind, since one is past and the other future in some of these characters' lives. 5*

All The Things He Left Behind - This is my first story by this author and I enjoyed it! It is well written and a pleasure to read an author's work who understands the value proper punctuation and editing. The characters are developed just enough for the story. Ms. Stelting's vivid descriptions keeps the reader immersed in Saf's starting over. It's almost like hearing a conversation on the front porch while drinking coffee with a friend. Has an overview of the story, which I appreciate knowing what the book is about before I read it. 5*

The Art of Taking Chances - Short young adult romance stories from nine different authors. The stories run the gamut from enemies-to-lovers, best-friends-to-lovers, second chance, etc. Except for Kelsie, all these authors are new to me, although I recognize the names of Seven and Yesenia. I didn't have time to read all the stories at this time; my apologies to the other contributors. 5*

Kelsie Stelting, Tell Me Something Real - I enjoy reading stories by Kelsie: she's refreshing, fun and mature in her writings. This is a well written, interesting story about a high school aged female meeting a twenty-year-old young man at a stock tank on her ranch in Texas. I don't care for this age group, but Kelsie always make her young characters interesting and mature (good sense) for their age. 5*

I got an ARC for a honest review.
Becoming Skye is the sequel to Lonesome Skye so Skye is still going through many hard events. Skye is a very realistic character, she acts exactly like any teenager. She is self absorbed, and unlikable at times just like any teenager. Most of the time she has tunnel vision believing only she has any problems. Her home life is not the best. She has an abusive relationship with distant parents. Her family is not in the best financial situation which makes it harder for her to get things such as a new prom dress. In this book we get to see her go through problems such feeling insecure about herself. In this book we follow her as she goes through boys and first kisses, heartbreak. At times the main character can be annoying at times, but the story is great. I can’t wait for the third book.

AH SNUKUMS!!!
This is a bittersweet read with all the drama teenagers have to deal with. Some more so than others. The main character really draws you in. Well developed and believable character as well as their personalities. The scenes are realistic and vivid and gives the illusion of being alive which makes the storyline pop. Kelsie did an incredible job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Great job Kelsie, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

Becoming Skye is an interesting, well-written story. It’s in first person which works great for this book. Skye is an amazingly well-developed and likable character. Her life is full of ups and downs. I look forward to Loving Skye, the third book in the series. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.

Can our girl ever catch a break? Skye has had a year full of ups and downs. She's having to deal with problems at home, An estranged sister, a knee injury and as if that wasn't enough there is boy trouble added to the mix. I loved this book and I cannot wait to see what else is in store for Skye in her senior year.
I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

I was given the opportunity by the author to read this book which I really appreciated. The second in the series. I hadn't read the first book but it was easy to understand what was going on. It starts with Skye in hospital after her operation and embarrassing herself in front of her crush,Kellum. Things progress from there, life adjustments to be made, return to school.
A thought provoking coming of age novel, very well written . A teenager dealing with what life throws at her. It reminded me of the song 'Tubthumping' by Chumbawamba. The line- I get knocked down but I get up again sums up the story.
Will look forward to the next installment to see how it plays out.

I was given the opportunity to read this book before it's official release and I am super grateful that I had the opportunity to do so. It is part of a series, so I read the first book before diving headlong into this one.
The story is a well written coming of age drama of a high school junior. It portrays the struggles and vulnerabilities many of us have experienced in our youth and shows how a persevering spirit can get us through. I can't wait to see what Book 3 has to offer.
I need to know what else is in store for Skye.

What a book. Skye is just like any other teenager, hard to get along with. Her parents are definitely not very caring and this doesn’t help the situation. Extremely realistic. Loved it.

Skye is a typical teenager who goes to high school, plays sports, and likes boys. Unfortunately for Skye, her life also includes parents who verbally and mentally abuse her and doesn’t give her the unconditional love and support she desperately craves. She’s also a victim of being bullied by another girl at school, and with an injury that could possibly have blown her chances for a college scholarship, she’s feeling pulled under by the weight of feeling hopeless and lonely. While navigating through the highs and lows of high school and drama at home, she has somehow managed to attract the attention of two boys – Kellum & Andrew. With little to no experience in the dating department, she finds herself in conflict to her feelings, knowing she must choose one.

This is book 2 of The Texas Star series. You don’t have to read book 1, but I recommend it since it gives more of a background on the other characters and as to how Skye woke up in the hospital room. The story pulls you in to the high school and teenage drama, and it’s hard not to feel sad or heartbroken for Skye and everything she has endured and continues to do so at such a young age. Girls she thought were her friends ended up betraying her, and the guy she decided to take a chance on ended up breaking her heart. In the end you are left rooting for something wonderful and positive to happen to Skye, and it does, both academically and with a new boy. This book does continue to a 3rd, and I am very much looking forward to it. The author has also written books on some of the other characters, and I highly recommend those as well.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader’s copy.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I know this is the second book in the series, but I didn’t have time to read Lonesome Skye first. I’m terrible, I know. There were things straight off the bat I didn’t understand because I had skipped the first book. I’d advise reading the series in order.
The vibe is very American high school. It has been written in a way that makes more sense to teenagers than to adults. Kudos to the author for managing that one. It isn’t exactly easy to write in a way that appeals to people of a different age group to your own. All good on the structure, language and style of writing.
That being said, this book isn’t for me. It is so teenage-drama-ish that I got tired of it, fast. I had the problems with parents issue myself, but Skye’s life isn’t one I can relate to. It seems to revolve around boys and college (but mainly boys). It is the kind of novel you’d think was interpreted from a teenage girl’s diary. Even down to the youthful ignorance. It isn’t bad, just not something I’d read under other circumstances.

As with Chasing Skye I'm conflicted with what to rate this. I really love the characters! But the story line is lacking.... mundane, maybe? This one was more interesting than Chasing Skye but I kept thinking it would have been better if they were one good book instead of two mediocre books. I like the detail and the day-to-day accounts that Kelsie puts in her writing and, again, her characters are all very loveable. Even the negative characters have a depth to them that I want to explore. When it comes to Skye's relationship with Callum and Andrew, I think there was some development missing. It would have been beneficial to have one or two more hang outs or one or two more sweet conversations to make it feel like Skye really knew what she was doing when she makes her choices. However there was clarification on that later on as she discovers more about herself.

I'm hoping to have some sense of completion with the next book. In the end, I'm glad I've met Skye and company but wish she had some more excitement
