I finally finished! Oh how painful it was. This is not a genre I love but I love the Author (met him at a conference- great guy!!) His Pictures books are incredible, "Love the Baby" "Share with brother" are fantastic! But this chapter books is not for me. However, It would appeal to a teenage boy, because that is who it is really written for. I will give it a few stars for me, but I know that someone out there is going to love it. Steve has a great writing style, which is very youthful and hip. I would love to give this lots of stars so others will read it but I can't for my rating purposes...I did not love it...it was just okay for me. I actually stopped reading it when he talks about harvesting organs to sell on the black market. It just made me nauseated. IT took many months to pick it back up. The high points of this book is FAM and Grandma. They were hilarious. The Mr Eden is sinister and scary, Jack and Troy are good main characters...yes I am trying to talk it up because I know someone will love this book and I want them to read it and love it...
The 1st book wasn't available so I am reading them out of order. This book makes me even more eager to read the first book! I loved it and already have 2 students in mind who will love this book!
Brothers Jack and Troy fight the evil Mr. Eden, who has somehow taken over their dad's body and who is determined to kill them. Lots of humorous characters fill the book, including Gram and her elderly friends, who have an arsenal of weapons disguised to look like items from the Home Shopping Network. The action doesn't pick up until the last part of the book. Recommend to younger boys.
The most interesting book I think I could have ever read. There is a lot of times where you want to ask questions to the book, exactly why I gave it 5/5.
This was okay. I liked the grandmother best but even she wasn't very believable. I know this is science fiction/horror, but neither the plot nor the characters were particularly engaging for me.
