I am 15 years old and my dad used to read this book to me every night. We lost my copy years ago and this past year for my birthday my dad bought me a new one. I still come home every night after a bad day and he will read it to me. He even has his "grover voice" that he reads it in. Love Love Love this book.
This Sesame Street book expands on Grover Monster as a more compelling character than before... compelling older readers to drop Sesame Street like the bad habit it has become. Grover has a mom, and a kindergarten class with a "play group"! How this fact escapes me I will never know. Grover is having a bad awful day, being made to wear clunky rain boots, letting one of the girls give him her extra sandwich, a PB and J, except she makes hers with strawberry and not grape jam. Grover is mopey-er than usual, which is intense since Grover is mopey 24/7. He goes home in a rain squall to hop into mom's lap (kinky, I know) and pour out his selfpitying heart about his bad awful day. You realize that this is a cheap ripoff of the book Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No-Good, Very Bad Day by the late Judith Viorst. Thus Sesame Street does a great disservice to kids. But it's still lovable old pal Grover, so who am I to be a harsh judge? Three stars Grover still cool in an otherwise bad awful book!
Absolutely love love LOVED this book! From the warm illustrations, to the cute story where you can easily emphasize with the main character - it is worthy of 5 stars. Would recommend to all younger kids & parents! Especially fans of Sesame Street. Great book!
I love the message of this book "Never let a bad day make you feel bad about yourself!" Gorver's mom is the best! My daughter really likes this book, we have had it for years and she still requests that we read it.
