I think this book is a very good beginner's guide to herbal infusions. However, at times when I needed to know about some herbs that would be perfect for infusing, I couldn't find them in the book.

I asked for book that would allow me to take a deeper dive into the realm of tea and I got it (for Christmas). This is a master's work - it contains a breadth and depth of knowledge, yet it is succinct - it borders on encyclopedic and it's under 300 pages. It's well written in structure and style, contextualizes tea historically, references further reading as well as sources to help you with acquiring the herbs. Well done Marie Nadine Antol - thank you!

The book was written in an informative way, and I appreciate all the research that went into bringing this all together, but the conclusions that are drawn in the intro section are so self-serving and over-reaching that it makes it hard to believe much of the rest of the book. On top of that, the "scientific evidence" is often a vague allusion to "good vitamins" without any clarity or evidence about how those impact the specific ailments. The majority of this book is anecdotal, so take it all for what it's worth.

I'm viewing this as a good starting point for further research, but absolutely not an authority as a standalone.

Healing Teas is split into two parts. Part one goes into the history of teas ( traditional, herbal, and healing ), properties of the herbs, and how to prepare the tea. Part two is in encyclopedia form that includes different kinds of herbs, their uses and how to combine them into tea. This is the heart of the book.
This book has herbs for every ailment. If you have IBS, hormonal problems, headaches, cold, flu, etc. I wish I found this book sooner. This is a fantastic book. Although, I wish it was updated since this book was written in the 90s. There could be more information about other discovered diseases or plants.

I absolutely adore this book and since I'm an enthusiastic tea drinker I flip through it all the time. It starts with a history of teas and then goes into methods for preparing teas, depending on it's purpose and parts of the plant used. As a forager I really appreciate how many of the described plants can be gathered outside and most of the others can be found at the grocery store. I just wish that there would be some more herbs in this book that are really common in Europe.

A great starter book for learning about healthful teas. Gives a list of the most used teas, how to use them today, as well as their traditional uses. Not overly in-depth, but enough to inspire further research. Very practical!
