Merz is part of the word commerzbank. Schwitters thus named his movement. Schwitters, poête, painters… a total artist. This work allows us to apprehend all his works..
Collage particularly are successful. There are the phonetic poems. It is a structure poetic made up of sounds, of syllables, on a very particular rhythm. He named them ursonatten for insisting on their musical character. I declaimed them, it is very difficult.
Schwitters fled Germany Nazi in the U.K. Many of his works were destroyed like degenerated art. One finds work regularly on sale at ebay. The most of them are copy. I bought 2 of them. One carried the seal of Gertrude Stein. There is at least one who is true.
