With a very dynamic and exciting plot, “The Constructor” is one of the most surprising and innovative novels of recent years.
A very thought provoking read and depending on your own beliefs parallels to the Bible can be seen throughout. Ie man made in Gods image . My interpretation was that each planet in the galaxy/solar system was like a city on earth the only difference in travelling was mode of transport. A great read.
My Dad once read a book that was so bad he threw it out of a train window. I wish I could give this the same fate, but alas, deleting it from my Kindle is the best I can do.
When I read the prologue i almost stopped, clunky english and clearly in need of a good editor.
But, I continued, to find two seemingly unconnected stories, a pretty standard detective story and an alien life form having all sorts of moral challenges, written in very different styles…suddenly they become one and the stories mesh.
You can read this as a trashy defective VS ET story; or as a much more thought provoking story, both are valid.
I would say that the book needs a good editor to fix the missing words, clunky english and generally tidy up the writing, but once past that a enjoyable read.
I will certainly read other books by the same author
An intriguing premise and a nice redemption story that was almost impossible to read. I had to skim through most of it. It reads as if it’s a bad copy of a machine translation of a mediocre work. A good editor could possibly turn this into a readable novella.
I thought that this was a good story and seems like an original idea can't say I've read anything like it before. The only draw back is the use of language made it hard to read at times.
The world building in this story is fascinating, and I really enjoyed the themes and overarching storyline. The writing seems like an early attempt - there is potential, but it needs practice and a good editor.
