Adam Hargreaves is an English author and illustrator. The son of Roger Hargreaves, he continues his father's popular Mr. Men series of children's books. Mr. Cool shows up and you know cool things are going to happen - that’s why he’s wearing a top hat. Still, Mr cool was pretty cool. A boy is sick in bed with chicken pox and he was in bed and bored. Mr. Cool shows up and snaps his fingers and he is doing all kinds of cool things like flying a jet plane, sledding down Mt. Everest, etc. The child also wakes up and his chicken pox are gone.

Mr. Cool does seem pretty cool.

The nephew did love this one. He hadn’t met Mr. Cool yet, but he gave him a cool 4 stars. He didn’t understand what chicken pox were. Neither child has had the itchy disease. Lucky them, I guess. I still have memories of being six with the pox and itching to death.

There appears to be not a lot of love for Mr Cool and let's face it - he is one of the lesser lights in the Mr Men universe but you know its still Mr Men and there is still the great drawings and the ridiculous stories that you know and love so Mr Cool is still pretty cool to me. This is the penultimate book in the collection I found at the opp shop, but a friend has the whole set and next time I am staying at their place for a weekend lookout it will be a Mr Men marathon!!!

Possibly the worst of the pile of "mr men" books that made it home from the library. Maybe it's just the awfully dated slang, but this one was just terrible.

All that I learned from this book was that sledding down Mt Everest will make your chicken pox disappear...

Nothing too special here. Pretty much a rehashing of Mr Daydream.

Oh please don’t say cool. If I ever hear that word again ...

We see a boy in this one and he’s called Jack Robinson. Jack has spots and the illustration of him sitting in bed covering in spots really makes me itchy. Mr Cool took him away to have fun and while he’s having fun, the boy recovered. I don’t understand what’s so fun about this story and how Mr Cool’s role is Si significant to this story. It’s hard to believe the things they did. I guess I just have to accept it. That’s not cool. Not at all.

It is a pretty decent story. I don't think I'm the target audience though. I think children will like it very much. It think it reads quite easily, probably can finish it in two minutes. However, I read it to my student so it took quite some time. I don't like how it asks us on which page the kid loses his spots though. I don't think it's very plausible to lose a cold like that.

Mr Cool is another of the best in the Mr Men and Little Miss series. I'm hoping the next time I'm sick Mr Cool will come visit me and whisk me on all sorts of fun adventures. Adventures always make you feel better!

I'd like to say nice but let's say COOL since this story is about Mr. Cool, by the way, Jack lost all red dots in his face right after his sliding with Mr. Cool from the top of Mount Everest.

This one is a little different to the other books in the series. A great one to read to a bedridden child to get the imagination flowing.

We've been going through my original run of Mr. Men books at bedtime, so you can imagine my delight as my daughter picked out one of the 'newer' titles during a bookshop visit.

I say new despite being published over 20 years ago, as this was the first by the late Roger Hargreaves son Adam to write for the series.

The story itself is a bit of a weird one as the titular Mr. Cool visits a sick boy named Jack and snaps his fingers to give the boy many adventures - it made me wonder if he was some dream like God rather than creating cool memories.

Spoilers for a kids book, but at some point in the story Jack no longer has chicken pox where my daughter noticed that instantly - so clearly she was engaged with it and liked the fun adventures.

6 year old says... it's impossible to sledge down mount Everest from the very top to the very bottom.

40 year old says... THIS BOOK IS NOT CANON. It may as well be called "Mr. Cashing in on Roger Hargreaves" I will not dignify it with discussing the story.

Mr. Cool appears in a blue blur, does he? I think a certain 90s hedgehog might give this story a bit of side-eye.

Mr. Cool is cool in many senses of the word. Of the not written by Roger Hargreaves installments, this is one of the better ones.
