Michael Dean was born in Mountain View California in 1976, raised in Tucson Arizona, and now resides just outside of Dallas Texas.
Michael’s adventurous style has led him to start and run a successful small business for the past ten years, as well as writing YA novels and playing music. His passion for music and the pen collided when he was younger, causing him to pick up a guitar and write his own music. That drive led him to starting his own band, getting it played on regional radio stations, even competing in Ozzy Osbourne’s battle for Ozzfest in New York City.
Still just as driven, now he prefers quieter days to himself, thus giving him time to improve on his main passion, writing. Drift, a YA paranormal fantasy, is a bi-product of that alone time. He hopes that when a reader picks up his works, he or she will love it just as much as he did writing it.
I had been anticipating the release of the next book in this series and was most certainly not disappointed!
Arise definitely picks up the pace as a follow up to Drift! One can tell that Drift was written more to set the stage for the story that begins to REALLY unfold in Arise! The action certainly increases as well as do the plot twists. The story development is a lot more fast paced in this book and there are fewer slow spots as the story scene has been set and less time is needed to develop the characters and setting.
The descriptions are spot on which seems to be a pattern with Michael's writing style. His descriptions put me right into the scene with little effort on my part to envision the setting and characters which makes for a smooth, comfortable read.
And, of course, it just wouldn't be the Drift series (as I am learning!) without a plot twist and cliffhanger right at the end to leave me wanting more!
I am very picky about my books that I read! It has to grab me in the first moment or it doesn't get read. I started reading drift and before I new it I was 10% in and already ordering book 2! The second book grabbed my attention just as much as the first and had me sighing up for an early review of burn! For me to want to read the whole trilogy the books have to be epic! and that's what I think about the drift series epic entertaining adventurous with a touch of humour it has everything you could want in a paranormal romance. thank you again for another entertaining adventure I am now in suspense waiting to find out what's in store for the characters in the third novel burn!!!
