I recommend reading Chris Wattie's book, "Contact Charlie" first to learn enough background. Ian Hope is the Lieutenant Colonel who commanded the Canadian Infantry companies that were fighting in the Panjway. His analysis of his own strategies is insightful but acronym-ridden and dense.
