I’ll be honest, I had a tougher time getting through this one than I did with the first two books. Overall, it was still an enjoyable series, but this installment felt a bit boring at times—though it wasn’t exactly slow. Even so, I’m still curious enough to check out some of the author’s other series.

Also, for those of you who want to dive deeper into this world, there’s a series that takes place before this one and focuses on the main character’s sister. It looks like it’s called the Mate Tracker series, so if you’re looking to start from the very beginning, that might be a great way to go.

This one was unfortunately my least favourite out of the 3. The pacing felt off. Also, it bothers me a lot when an adult uses the term "belly" as regards to their stomach, especially in sexual situations, it feels childish.

It also felt a bit pointless to have Dani be in a frozen coma for lite 50 pages, and then waking up after only 1 week. It could have been done differently and a lot better if what the author was going for was them getting seperated and Kalyll/Wölfe didn't know if Dani was alive or not.. and again, why "Wölfe"? 😂 It's such a stupid name to someone from the nordic countries who knows how "ö" is pronounced.

As much as I wanted to write a review for all 3 books in this series separately, I decided to write a final review towards all 3 books instead.

So here we go...

Daniella, a human living in the human realm, is suddenly abducted into the realm of the Fae and other mystical creatures. Here, she meets her abductors and finds out why she was taken. Daniella, aka Dani, is a healer and needed to help the Prince, who harbors a dark secret. One that only she can help with. Dani is a very strong woman. She's caring, friendly, assertive, independent, funny, and at times sassy and dark. Throughout the entire series, we see her develop into a bold woman who will do anything for those she loves.

The Prince, aka Kalyll, aka Wolfe, ughhhhh I have no words for him. Just kidding, I do. He is so incredibly sexy in every way. I think I've found my new book boyfriend, lol. Now, his real name is Kalyll, but he harbors a secret side to him, a dark side, one with more sinister intentions. This side of him is known as Wolfe. In theory, we can speculate that he has a double personality. Either way, his princely and otherwise normal side and his dark side complement each other. Together, they create this possessive, brutal, caring, murderous, empathetic, funny, and amazing character. His love for Dani will have you fanning yourself.

The spice level is a definite 4/5. I've read some reviews that say it's a slow burn, but it's slow up until a point because once it takes off, it's off. As the books continue, our main characters are thrust into situations that have them fighting for their lives and for themselves.

Quick review on the side characters...

Kalyll's friends, otherwise known as the Sub Rosa, are entertaining. They each bring a certain charm. Their loyalty and friendship show how well the author thought of each characters personality as she brought this story to life.

It's a quick read. Each book is roughly 300 pages, which, for me, is a short read, and I normally wouldn't have read them for that reason alone, but I'm glad I did because each book flows nicely into the next. I'm sad that the series ended, I could've read about Kalyll and Dani's escapades all day.

This is the third and final installment of the Healer of Kingdoms series by Ingrid Seymour. I was anticipating its release since I read the first two books around March. The first two books I thought were pretty good and kept me interested in reading on, but for some reason this last book just didn't capture my attention in the way I expected it to. I read it about 70% of the way through then stopped to read a few other books before starting it up again. It's not that it was bad or worse than any of the other books in the series, I just couldn't get into it.

After forcing myself to read it, I was happy that I did but it just didn't hit the same as the other books did. It might've been the wait between this book and the last that caused me to feel detached from the characters but I just couldn't force myself to care about anything that was happening. With that being said, however, I thought that there were some interesting plot points. Even though I was skimming through the last 40% or so, I found a HUGE typo in this book. At one point Kalyll is admiring himself and Dani says, “conceded much?” although really it should say, “conceited much?”

One thing I started to dislike is the double persona thing going on with Kalyll/Wolfe. They both treat Dani differently. Kalyll is a kind gentleman while Wolfe is aggressive but protective. I just don't see how Dani could love both of them the same way. Also, Dani is kind of annoying me at this point. She just can't seem to listen to anyone and keeps insisting on being in on the action 100% of the time. And the whole “Dark Dani” thing just got so old so quickly. It’s like she created another dark persona of herself so that she could justify being with both Kalyll and Wolfe. As if the Dark Dani was a match for Wolfe just as regular Dani was a match for Kalyll.

Despite everything I thought this was a sweet book that had a nice ending even if it did feel a bit rushed. I still love the relationship/friendship between all the friends (Kryn, Silver, Cylea, Jeondar, Arabis, Kalyll, and Dani). The way they work together for each other is really sweet and admirable.

This book was okay. It left me with more questions than answers. Like seriously, we still have no clue what the sorceress even wanted. Were there any negative consequences for Dani's demands for questions from the envoy? What happened to the unseelie court? Who the heck ended up taking the throne?

I really loved the first book. I would have preferred it to be a single book instead of a series. I knew that the series would have a happy ending, but it was stretched out unnecessarily, making the ending unsatisfying. And honestly, most of the time, I wanted to deck the FMC right in the face. She was just so dumb. But hey, I did like the side characters. They were way more interesting than the main characters. Oh, and don't even get me started on the epilogue. It could've been way better.

This was the perfect ending to this trilogy!! Where the last one had that Jekyll and Hyde vibe, this one, and the trilogy overall, has that Beauty and the Beast retelling feeling!

I love Kalyll/Wolfe!!! The light/dark side of a man, fae male I mean. He was a fantastic character!! Daniella/Dani had a bit of that light/dark in her too. She grew so much as a character and became pretty bad a$$!! And the spiciness between the two was pretty hot!!

The side characters in Kalyll’s Sub Rosa were really unique and fantastic characters and friends!! They were a huge part of the story!! Larina, the Pixie, was one of my favorite friends of Dani’s, you can’t help but admire her loyalty, strength and kindness.

This has been such a great series and I’m so glad to have read it!! If you enjoy:

•Fae
•Beauty and the Beast Retellings
•Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde vibes
•Touch her and die.
•Fated Mates
•Magic
•Spice

You will LOVE this series!!!

I really loved the first book in this series, but as the trilogy has progressed, I have liked them less and less. Dani was kind of getting on my nerves in this one, although I do like how brave she is. The prince having those two personalities, and almost not even knowing one from the other, is just something I’m not a huge fan of here. I like the side characters in their group though. I would give this a 3.25/5!

These books were a fast read. All just under 300 pages. I enjoyed them quite a bit. Loved silver and his fascination with "human realm sayings". Enjoyed the beauty and the best aspect with Wolfe/kalyll and dani.

Welp. I really held out hope that the series would surprise me in this final book. It was just a really middle of the road read. The most redeeming part of this book was the epilogue.

It’s an easy, quick series to read through if you’re not looking to commit to something hefty.

A relatively good end, if a little difficult to get into. I genuinely enjoyed Kalyll and Dani's relationship over the course of the series and thoroughly enjoyed Kalyll/Wolfe.

A Court So Dark
Ingrid Seymour

This is book #3 in this series.

I absolutely loved this book… maybe even more than the first 2. I wasn’t sure what direction this book was going to go with how book #2 ended. I was already in love with our main characters (King Kalyll, Dani, and the rest of the sub arosa).

This book is mainly about the struggle to be king between the rightful king, Kalyll, and his younger brother, Cardian.

There is some spice, but not a ton! It has a mixture of humans, Fae, healers (some human and some Fae), and all of the in between!

Without giving stuff away, just know that it starts off jumping right into it and keeps its pace! I loved every twist and turn it took!

All in all, this reader gives a 5 out of 5!

5 wonderful stars!! I couldn't be more pleased with how Ingrid ended this trilogy, however I am so devastated to see it come to an end. I have loved every single one of the books in the Healer of Kingdoms trilogy and A Court So Dark was no exception. Ingrid gives us everything, amazing but not too intense world building, setting a beautiful scene in your mind, a fast paced plot that is sure to entertain, relationships between all the characters that makes you love them and feel connected and even a strong and deep love that even has a little spice. Ingrid Seymour has a wonderful talent as an author that not every author can say they have. She balances every aspect of her story with perfection and turns it into an incredible novel that keeps you intrigued from the start, entertained thru out the entire book, hating to put it down and in this final book, as much as I want more of Dani and Kalyll's story, I couldn't be more satisfied with how she brought it to an end.

In book 2 we are left off with a terrible cliff hanger and book 3 pick right up where book 2 left off. Dani is frozen, saved by her friend right before death takes her over. Slowly, she is able to heal herself, but not before Kalyll is kidnapped by his brother, Cardian, who is trying to take Kalyll's place as king. Knowing Cardian would be an evil and destructive ruler, Dani and the Sub Rosa, Kalyll's most trusted allies and friends, make a plan to rescue Kalyll befire continuing to help him take his well earned and rightful place on the throne. With plans set in motion, they begin to set forth, but it isn't long before plans change when Dani and the most recent and unlikely addition to the Sub Rosa, a pixie named Larina, gets separated from the rest of the group, giving them a rare chance to get closer to the end goal, Kalyll on the throne. Told in 2 (and a half counting Wolfe's POV) you are put thru an adventure while reading a story that is sure to keep you entertained and needing more. If a strong, entertaining and fast paced plot, great character development and strong relationships, perfectly written world building and a well written fantasy romance novel with more plot than smut is something you are intrigued by then I highly recommend you read this series. But be sure to start with book 1, A Prince So Cruel, as you need the full experience to truly appreciate the story that is The Healer of Kingdoms.

Thank you Ingrid for the chance to read and review an early copy of A Court So Dark, the final installment in the Healer of Kingdoms Trilogy. I started this trilogy at the beginning of the year and have anxiously been waiting for the final book to be released. When the opportunity to become an arc reader came, I had to take the chance and I couldn't be more ecstatic to have been accepted. Being an ARC reader in no way affected my review, this is a series I have loved since I started it and it's also the series that gave me my love for fantasy romance.

Way to play on my emotions Ingrid!

A Court So Dark is book 3 in the Healer of Kingdoms series. If you have not read A Prince So Cruel and A Cage So Gilded please do so to avoid massive spoilers.

After the terrible cliffhanger in book 2, Dani is still frozen in a coma like state. If it wasn't for Silver freezing her, she most likely would be dead. But what they don't know is Dani is slowly healing herself day by day till she can get enough strength to awake. Sadly, when she wakes, Kalyll is taken and doesn't know she is okay. The Sub Rosa work tirelessly to find out where Kalyll has been taken. But when Dani sees an opportunity, she takes it and thankfully it pays off. Now they must work together to find a way to defeat Cardian before he can do anymore damage to the kingdom.

This may be the final book in the series, but I am glad Ingrid ends it beautifully. I may not be over the heartbreak she caused but I can still be happy with how it ends. Kalyll not only accepts Wolfie as a part of him to a point where they can cohesively work together but everyone else accepts Wolfie as well. And watching Dani accept her dark side as well has been an adventure. You can only deny yourself for so long till you eventually need to cave in. With all the adventure, drama & nerves Ingrid sends us through, I was honestly captivated every second while reading. I love this series and this author and can't wait to read more from Ingrid and the other books she has based in this world.

Thank you Ingrid Seymour for an ARC copy of A Court So Dark. As always, it was amazing and I love being a reader for you. Thank you for creating a series for me to love and taking several twists on a classic tale. I can honestly say I haven't read a Dr. Jeykll Mr. Hyde Beauty and the Beast retelling since you came out with this series. Thank you!

A Court So Dark is the final book in the Healer of Kingdoms series. Dani's love story was pretty epic and this final book was a wild ride with a few twists and turns.

Dani has gotten a heck of a lot stronger over the course of this series. Not only have her powers grown but the traits of a true leader, a queen, have come out. Dani was taking command of situations and making plans. Not to mention Dark Dani came out a lot in this book and boy was she fun, wanting to drop bodies at every turn. It was great.

Looks like Kalyll and Wölfe are a permanent team and I'm not mad about it. Kalyll is the gentleman the gallant one while Wölfe is all passion and aggression. Dani, Kalyll, and reluctantly Wölfe have gotten used to the idea. Both men love her and she loves both of them. Wölfe is aggressively protective of Dani and I loved it while Kalyll was feeling all kinds of guilt for all that she's been through. Both of the guys have good qualities, Dani has it pretty good and I do like the fact that Dani was an equal partner to both guys. Overcoming the odds together.

What a surprise this plot turned out to be. Cardian turned out to be a bigger problem than anyone could have guessed, allying with Kellam Mythorne, the Unseelie King. Elfhame is on the brink of war and it's up to Kalyll, Dani, and the rest of the Sub Rosa to stop it. Cardian does a lot of damage and no one is more surprised than me, I didn’t think he was smart enough to do it. It's complete chaos. We meet Kryn's family. After meeting them it explains so much about Kryan, and I could help but feel bad for him. We also get to see the Unseelie Court, it was exactly as expected, dark, depressing, and dangerous.

I can't believe this is it. A Court So Dark is not only Dani's final book but the final book in the Sunderverse as well and I absolutely loved it. A MFC who grew into her powers, fated mates, kidnapping, crazy politics, arranged marriages, spies, and murder. This book was far from boring, excitement at every turn as well as a few heartwarming moments. Now that the Sunderverse is finished I can't wait to see what Ingrid has planned next.

This is the third and final installment of Ms. Seymour’s A Prince So Cruel series. In this book, we continue to follow our cruel prince Kalyll, who is now the King. He is fighting to stop a war that his half-brother is trying to start. As well as keep his brother from stealing his crown and his kingdom. With the help of his friends and his love Dani, a human with magical healing powers, they will stop at nothing to help their King succeed. I found this entire series well-written, with a unique, fun world filled with magic and amazing characters.

Welcome back to the wonderful world of Dani and her merry band of Fae. When we last saw her, Dani was gravely injured by the attack by Mythorne's son, Cardian and Varameded. We find her on a frozen pedestal being watched over by her friends and mate.

But the talented Dani is able to bring herself back to our lives but not before Cardian has his mother killed and his brother taken!!! WHAT.

So starts a book I couldn't put down.

Shakira jokes, Lord Snuffles and Mud Spriggans ensue. Transformation potions, heated gazes and danger follow our band of merry Fae everywhere.

Oh and Wolfie/Kalyll hanging Cardian from the tree. A wonderful parody of the mouse and the cat. Loved that the snivelling mouse was left to hang from the tree.

I cried, I laughed and I hope for more. Excellent work.

I had to remove a star for Larina.

I look forward to more.

Ugh! I don’t want this series to be over!
I love this book just as much as the 1st and 2nd book. I have nothing negative to say about this book or this series in general.

The character development, the romance, the magic system, the action, the plot, and just everything you want in a book is just amazing. There is always some plan being drawn up and the action is non-stop. On top of that, the romance is spicy and I would like to find a Kalyll/Wolfe for myself. It’s a why choose for personalities 😂.

Because of the character development, Ingrid Seymour had me bawling my eyes out towards the end of the book. The characters just steal your heart and you can’t imagine the Sub Rosa being a member less. 😭

An absolutely beautiful series that will have you enthralled from the start!

Fairies of royalty and power dominate this story’s cast of characters. We meet King Kayll who sets off to challenge that which threatens peace in his land. Thinking he has lost what is most important he is captured by the very threat. The tables turn though and an escape become possible. Regrouping his allies, they decide to fight, from inside the nest of vipers.
This book is a series of adventures into magical places, powers and potions, danger, surprise, and betrayal. Good prevails though and the group finds some level of happiness. A must read for fans of fantasy, romantasy, magic and adventure. Spicy but not overwhelmingly so.

This was a good way to wrap up the series. It had more twists and turns than the first two books, which I loved being kept on the edge of my seat trying to guess what would happen next! I wouldn’t have been made to even throw in an epilogue were they were married and everything was happy in her human state and she mastered living longer. Kalyll is sweet, but Wolfe being a badass and “villainy” is my favorite character! My heart is happy with the way it ended 🥰

I struggle so much with this one, I really do….

I liked the first book. Liked the characters, the dynamics, the story. It all had good potential.

The 2nd book, with the whole Jeckel & Hyde vibe, I was like, ok, I’ll go with it, it’s bringing a new aspect to the story that I did feel like fit in with the vibe it was going.

However, I just couldn’t continue with the 2 personality thing for Kalyll. To be honest, I figured by the end of the 3rd book, that it’d end with Kalyll conquering Wolfe essentially and while keeping both the light and dark side of himself, he’d be fully himself all the time at least. This whole Dani loving both of them. It felt like it was trying to be a “why choose” trope without technically having 2 characters. I just did not understand Dani’s “attraction” to the Wolfe personality outside of being a rough f***. Yes, I understood that Wolfe’s side put her first, but I’m sorry, not in a good way. And it took away from her personality traits of being a healer and selfless that she kept trying to tell us as readers she was.

I couldn’t believe that her last interaction on the page was with Wolfe, not Kalyll. Just….no, I’m sorry. Kalyll was the love interest, not Wolfe!!! I wanted him gone so bad.

I also wanted more out of the last “epilogue” type chapters. So many unanswered questions about not only Dani & Kalyll but the Seelie and Unseelie courts. And the last chapter with Shadow. I’m probably in the minority here, but I did not want Cardian to die honestly. I liked how despite all he had done, Kalyll didn’t kill him because he still was his brother. Then, to just throw that Shadow chapter in there? Just took away from it all in my opinion.

Overall, I liked the concept of this story and enjoyed parts of these 3 books. The side characters were great. Kyrn was a great asset and Silver, omg, he just cracked me up!! Loved him! I guess I just felt like the story took turns and directions I didn’t want it to overall. This is just my opinion, I still liked reading it. I like Ingrid’s writing and stories but this series just wasn’t my favorite.

Man, those final chapters!!

This is the final book in the Healer of Kingdoms series. I loved every minute of every book! But this book wraps up the story very nicely, and left me with very satisfied feelings.

This book picks up right where A Cage So Gilded left off. While the last book dealt with how to get rid of Kalyll's dark side personality of "Mr. Hyde," and keep his normal of "Dr. Jekyll," it appears they've abandoned that goal in this book and are figuring out how to live with both. Not a bad thing really, because I think we're all made of light and dark and there's a reason and a purpose to have both. . . but I digress . . .

Again, world building is very good. While the final few chapters of the book isn't an epic battle, it is definitely a squirmish and was a page turner. At least for me it was. The only thing I found a little irritating is how our heroine Dani thinks she needs to be in the thick of things. She's had healing magic throughout the series, but through some bad juju in the first book, she found she has some other "capabilities." However, she's only just discovered it and obviously hasn't mastered it yet. So when Kalyll asks her to stay behind so he knows she safe, of COURSE she thinks she MUST go because no one can do what she does blah blah blah. I just eye roll whenever this happens in books, and it seems to happen a lot. But that's the only thing I found I didn't like in the entire series.

Personally, I liked the pacing of the book. I'm sure others will find it slow. Definitely a slow burn series, low smut. Not NO smut, but not much. So if you're looking for more, this may not be the series for you. I actually liked it because the bits that were there didn't overpower the storyline. I'd definitely recommend this series.

Holy crap this series has been an amazing wild ride and this final book had me all in my feels for every single one of my favorite characters! Ingrid Seymour has taken a beloved fairy tale and completely transformed it to one of my favorite series I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Daniella will do anything in her power to save her mate/King Kalyll and that means risking everything she is to do it. King Kalyll doesn’t know how to go on since Daniella almost died in front of him saving him and is now frozen in time. He makes sure that she has the best view of the kingdom and always has the most beautiful flowers around her in hopes she will return to him. When people are hungry for power they will do everything to keep that power even if they had to steal the power to begin with. Cardian thinks he’s the king and will do everything evil imaginable to keep Kalyll and Daniella apart even torture his own brother. What happens when the good guys stop at nothing to make sure they win? What happens when you’re outsmarted and out maneuvered by someone you believe to be beneath you? How do you repay a friend for being the bravest friend you’ve ever had? Finally how do you bring the love of your life back to you when everyone believes it’s impossible? This story truly had me in tears at one point, laughing hysterically in others, always on the edge of my seat with the action and adventure. But the passion, love and spice……ooooohhhh boy was that off the charts! I truly loved every moment of this series and I know it’s one I will return to again and again. Thank you Ingrid for creating such an amazing world and I hope there will be more to come.
