Vincent ‘Venom’ Jones, former Navy SEAL sniper, left the Navy after a Taliban kill resulted in collateral damage—the death of a child. Out of the military, and unsure of his future, he’s recruited by Hank Patterson and Jake Cogburn of the Brotherhood Protectors. He accepts the position on one condition…he refuses to protect children.
At her former Army buddy’s insistence, Maria Elena left her boyfriend, drug cartel boss Diablo, in the Texas border town of El Paso and escaped to Colorado. All she wants is a chance for her and her daughter to start over, free of the cartel and her daughter’s abusive father. Only the cartel boss doesn’t let go of what he considers his.
When Venom rescues a pretty woman and her child from an attempted kidnapping on his first day in Fool’s Gold, he can’t turn his back and let someone else protect them. Against his better judgment, he takes the assignment to provide their protection where their lives and his heart are at risk of total destruction.

Rocky Mountain Venom by Elle James Brotherhood Protectors: Colorado #11. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone. Vincent “Venom” Jones was a SEAL, but left the military after a collateral damage incident. He accepts a job offer from the Brotherhood Protectors as long as he doesn’t have to protect children. Maria Elana didn’t know her boyfriend was mixed up in a Mexican cartel until it was too late. He keeps her and her daughter locked up in a compound surround by guards, locked doors and lots of fences. Creating a shopping excursion after he hits he one too many times, this time in front of her daughter, Maria manages to escape out a bathroom window at the Mall and they go to the Brotherhood Protectors for help.
Fast moving and full of danger. A bit predictable and formulaic but still exciting, steamy and romantic. A romantic escape read that satisfies.
Never again will Vemom let anyone be described as collateral damage, his heart has never recovered and he still has nightmares, but Maria and her feisty daughter Sofia are his answers. He has avoided children at all costs, they haunt his dreams and terrorise his waking moments, however as scared as he is he will not leave them alone and defenceless....he faces his fears and finds a future he never knew was possible, one he never dared to dream of. I love how fast Venom falls for Sofia, despite being tiny she just strides right through his defences and claims his heart in her little hands. So beautiful and so nice to see Venom finally begin to forgive himself for something he could never have seen happening, a heartbreaking collateral damage that breaks the strongest of men. I am so glad Jake finally convinced Venom to join the Brotherhood Protectors, the family who accept everyone with open arms. No spoilers but I was a little disappointed at the failure to foresee how Maria and Sofia were found, it was an obvious action and I guessed it as soon as it appeared...for me something that obvious should have been checked out by at least one of the Protectors.
Venom is book 11 in the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado series by Elle James and next is Venom and Garcia’s story.
When Venom, Navy SEAL left his team after a mission had collateral damage of a child he joined the BHP with one stipulation..didn’t want anything to do with the protection of a child.
Maria Garcia called her former Army buddy to help her and her daughter escape from her abusive ex boyfriend, who also is part of a dangerous Mexican cartel..
What happens when Venom intercepts Maria and discovers he will also be protecting a child? Read on to see this child show Venom he needs to let the past go so he can move forward…suspense, drama, healing scars, sizzle and so much more.
A fantastic read that will keep you on the edge of your seat and there's never a dull moment. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Venom and Maria are great together and I loved Sofia. For a 5 year old, she is wise beyond her years. Maria escaped with her daughter from the cartel, but will it last. You won't regret buying this book it's that good. HEA.
This was a stunningly beautiful read. Each word carefully and strategically place to draw the reader in until you’re embedded deep within the lives of these wonderful characters
I love taking a step back into the world of the Brotherhood Protectors. Going back to the Lost Valley a ranch with Gunny, Jake and everyone else is akin to meeting up with an old friend. So comforting.
Venom is a man being crushed by almost debilitating guilt. All you want to do is hug him and try your best to make him understand what a beautiful soul he is.
His lack of faith in his abilities is heartbreaking. It’s almost as if he’s giving up on himself under the unbearable guilt. What he doesn’t realise is that he’s a protector, first and foremost. He spent years protecting people and fighting for his country.
I was so glad that Jake and Hank found him and brought him into the fold of their family.
Maria is such a beautiful character. She’s strong and tough, although she doesn’t believe that.
Having been trapped for years in a situation she had no control over was heartbreaking, but it showed her strength of character to just survive day in and day out from the abuse she was subjected to.
Watching as she took a brave and fearful step was so awe inspiring. Her pain and fear almost palpable as it bled through the pages.
Venom and Maria could not have been more suited to each other. It’s so obvious that they are two halves of one soul. The addition of Sophia just rounded the relationship off perfectly.
Elle James is a phenomenal writer, her stories are so addictive and compelling. Her characters so relatable. Adding a child to a story can sometimes fall short, but Elle James has captured the mentality and behaviour of Sophia perfectly.
This is a truly beautiful read and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
5 stars doesn’t do this book justice at all. Absolutely brilliant!!
The author delivers another wonderful story in the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado division, a spin off of the original series. The members are all former military men and women who after separating from that life, find themselves given a second chance in life by Hank Patterson. This time the story belongs to Vincent/Vernom Jones. His last mission as a Navy SEAL sniper, left him. emotionally devastated. Also had him leaving the service and determined never to be responsible for a child. But fate interferes and his first protection assignment is Maria Garcia and her five year old daughter, Sofia. Both are fleeing from Maria’s ex, a dangerous man. His family belongs to of the biggest cartels in Mexico. Will these three survive not only the cartel but also the devastating forces of nature? Will a five year old be the one to help Venom heal from the scars of his past? A great addition to the series . Also a reminder of the effects war has on the brave men and women that are willing to put their lives on the line to keep us and others safe. As a nation as well as individuals, we must do more for them upon their return. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
When Venom joins the BH in Colorado, his only request is to not have any assignments that involve kids. But his first assignment to help one of Jojo’s friends who happens to be running away from her abusive ex, he gets a surprise when it’s two people he needs to keep safe. Maria has finally made it away from her boyfriend with their five year old daughter, Sofia, but she needs help as her ex has a huge reach and if he catches her this time….she may not survive the punishment. On the run with no where to go, she calls Jojo, a woman she met years ago and hopes she can help….before she is caught. A great read with some steam, plenty of suspense and great characters all around. The action kept going for the three of them, which kept me on the edge of my seat and wondering what would happen next. I loved the little to no drama between them, no denying or hiding their feelings and Sofia, a young girl with an old soul. I would have like for Venom to confide in Maria, his issues and what happened to him to complete their connection….4.5 stars *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
For a seal sniper, the worst thing that could have happened was as bullet went through the enemy, and struck and destroyed the life of an innocent child. The field couldn't live with his last mission, he separated from the Navy, only to find out there was no jobs for his skill. He became a janitor for a high school cleaning toilet and scraping gum off of desks. An offer came from the brotherhood protectors and his first mission, it was to safely transport a woman from an abusive situation. Little did he know, that this mission would be his salvation! The woman had a 5-year-old daughter, and while at first he was torn, memories of the 5-year-old that died at his hands by mistake, this 5-year-old soon won his heart! The abusive situation, however was at the hands of a Mexican drug cartel. The trio survived a mudslide, and a near re-abduction, a relocation to a ingenious safehouse, only to be betrayed by unknowing inhabitants of the small town. You have to read to find out how the retired SEAL sniper was able to rescue the woman and her child, from the clutches of the Mexican cartel.
Rocky Mountain Venom is a phenomenal romantic suspense by Elle James. Ms. James has given readers a well-written book populated with an outstanding cast of characters that make this book a great read. Venom left the SEAL team he was on and kicked around before joining the Brotherhood Protectors. Maria and her daughter escape from their cartel bodyguard and the chase is on. Venom is determined little Sofia won't become another case of collateral damage. Maria and Venom's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I loved every page of this book and look forward to my next book by Elle James. Rocky Mountain Venom is book 11 of the Brotherhood Protectors: Colorado Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Once again we are with the men of the Colorado branch of the Brotherhood Protectors men who have served their country and still want to be useful but whose skills are not what fits into normal society but with the brotherhood they have found not only a new purpose but also a new family
Vincent ‘Venom’ Jones still suffers from nightmares over the death of a child in Afghanistan for the military they where just collateral damage for him it broke his heart and he has sworn he will never have anything to do with a child again So it is rather ironic that his first brotherhood case should be to protect Maria Elena Garcia and her five year old daughter Sofia from her ex a member of a drug cartel No matter how hard Venom tries to harden his heart little Sofia is determined to stride right into and claim it and in the process he falls for her mother as well Can he keep them safe and can they build a future as a family You will have yo read to see
Collateral Damage just keeps ringing in Vincent "Venom” Jones head. If he could only change that one moment in time. After that moment everything changed. He left the Navy Seals and his future was up in the air. Until he meets Jake and Hank Patterson of The Brotherhood Protectors. Now he has a new mission that could change everything.
Maria Garcia and her adorable very wise daughter are on the run from her abusive Cartel boss boyfriend who doesn’t want to let them go. After enlisting help from an old friend Garcia and her daughter are rescued by Venom. He’s not too sure about this assignment protecting a woman and her daughter. He doesn’t want to let them down. But when danger strikes he’s all in. Because nobody can protect his girls like he can! “I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”
Venom, former Navy Seal, has decided he hates his dead end job as a janitor and agrees to join the Brotherhood Protectors in Colorado on the condition that he does not protect children. He was responsible for an accidental death overseas. He agrees to take an assignment to meet up with Jojo’s friend, Maria and guard her on the way back to Colorado. Her ex is the son of a Mexican Cartel leader and he keeps what’s his. Turns out that she is accompanied by her five year old daughter. He immediately has flashbacks to a bad time in his life. But he has committed to protect Maria and her daughter Sophie is part of that commitment. There is a lot of moving around to avoid the Cartel, but they are being tracked just the same. Lots of intrigue, action and romantic feelings along the way. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Rocky Mountain Venom by Elle James is book #11 in the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado series. The Brotherhood Protectors always get the job done! In this case Maria Elena Garcia and her daughter Sofia escape a Mexican drug cartel and former Navy SEAL Vincent "Venom" Jones vows to keep them safe. Little Sofia is such a sweetheart and quite the trooper during their trying times. Maria and Venom find themselves attracted to each other and I found them to be a perfect couple. This was a very thrilling and entertaining book. I enjoyed being reunited with so many of the characters from earlier Brotherhood Protectors Colorado books. This is another winner for author Elle James.
5 stars I received a free copy of the mildly steam paramilitary romantic suspense Rocky Mountain Venom: Brotherhood Protectors Colorado book 11 by Elle James and this review was given freely. Gripping and action-packed with near-death experiences, poignant moments, and a daring rescue. This is a testament to living with PTSD and finding love and family after being abused and held captive by a Mexican Cartel. Seven years after falling under the influence of her Mexican Cartel heir and boyfriend Diego Valdez, Marie Elena Garcia and her five-year-old daughter Sofia receive help from her old Army friend JoJo in the form of The Brotherhood Protectors' newest PTSD-suffering operative Venom. 18+ for violence and an intimate scene.
Rocky Mountain Venom is the newest Book in Elle James' Brotherhood Protectors Colorado Series.
Venom (aka Vincent Jones), the newest Member of the Brotherhoos Protectors Colorado Branch was just telling his Boss that he thought being a Brotherhood Protector would entail more than shoveling Horse-Manure, when JoJo, the Ranch Mechanic, comes to the Brotherhood Protectors with a Plea for Help for her Friend Garcia. Maria Garcia is on the run from her former Boyfriend - and his Drug Cartel Family.
Elle James writes Stories that keep you glued to the Pages and won't let you go.
i think i fell in love with this Story about 2 Pages in... and when i finished reading, i kind of felt like it should have never ended. But that is, what good Books should make you feel!
When an innocent child is caught in the crossfire Venom’s mission as a Navy SEAL became his last one. He has jointed the Brotherhood Protectors as he still wants to help others, but he isn’t prepared to undertake any assignment that includes a child until one finds him.
While enduring an abusive relationship Maria’s primary goal has been escaping so that she can ensure her and her daughter’s safety. Freedom was within her reach but the threat from her past isn’t far behind when Venom comes into her life and decides that breaking his one rule to keep Maria and her daughter safe is worth the risk.
The strength and resilience of both Venom and Maria shines through as they deal with the emotional turmoil of their pasts, the threats in the present and a love that neither expected.
Venom works for Brotherhood Protectors Colorado and is a former Seal. Maria Elena is a friend of JoJo’s. And former Army.
Venom’s first job is with Brotherhood Protectors Colorado is to rescue and protect Marie and her daughter, Sofia from her former boyfriend ( a Cartel Member). Venom still does not have confidence due to a mission that went FUBAR.
Venom and Maria are attracted to each other. Can Venom and his team keep Maria and Sofia safe? You will have to read the book.
This book has suspense, intrigue, romance, twists, turns, drama and emotions. It was great to see friends and teammates again.
This book is full of twists and turns as Maria Elena “Garcia” leaves the boyfriend that she thought was going to be the one, but it turns out that he is abusive and keeps her and their daughter hostage. Vincent “Venom” Jones leaves the Navy Seals when his last deployment ends in what they determine as collateral damage. He finally says yes to Hank and Jake after working as a janitor in a high school, with the exception that he doesn’t have to protect anyone with kids. He’s in for a wild ride. I r3ecommend this book and the entire series.
Rocky Mountain Venom Brotherhood Protectors Colorado Elle James When Jojo gets a call from her friend that she and her daughter need help, she gets the Brotherhood Protectors to come to their defense. Venmo is sent to bring them to Fool’s Gold and provide them with protection. Protecting them against a drug cartel proves to be a team effort which hopefully will lead to a happy ending. Venmo, Maria, and Sofia are characters that draw you in from the beginning. A great addition to the Brotherhood Protectors series.
When I see it’s a Brotherhood Protector story I need an interrupted few hours to read straight through. Maria and her 5 yr old daughter ate on the run from domestic violence. Reaching out to an old military colleague, sets a mission in motion. Vincent ‘Venom’ and his team to the rescue. We’ve not stop action throughout, a landslide, escaping the Cartel and multiple car chases set the pace for this story. Would they ever be safe? You’ll be hoping as much as I did that a HEA will come their way.
When Venom takes on the job and joins the Brotherhood Protectors his only thing is he won't guard any kids after what happened on his last mission. HIS first job is to go and get Maria a friend of JJ's who is running from an abusive ex who happens to be part of a drug cartel. When he goes to pick her up she has a little girl Sofia who you will fall in love with. After picking them up the danger, suspense and whst they have to overcome to get their HEA. Wonderful characters.
Venom is former military who has started working for the Brotherhood protectors. His first job is to protect a woman and her daughter from her daughter's father, who is a drug kingpin. Venom grabbed my heart from the first chapter and drug it along thru the whole book! This is a short, can't stop reading it story that I could not put down! You will love this story and it's characters so much they will stay with you for quite a while!
Rocket Mountain Venom: Venom was glad he wasn't a janitor anymore but he is ready for an assignment. JoJo received a call from a friend she knew when she was in the Army. Maria need help from an abusive relationship. JoJo went to Jake to let him know what was going on. Venom volunteer to take the assignment and Taken went with him because Maria ex is part of the cartel. It was very suspense, intense, adventures and hot romance. Great story!
Another fantastic addition to the series. MS James always delivers the best suspense stories. Maria is escaping from her cartel boyfriend and called her friend JOJO to help her. Venom's last mission left him scarred from accidentally killing a boy. Venom and Jake go to help Maria and her daughter. Jake ends up being a decoy and Venom is forced to drive the two to Fool's Gold. Action, suspense and romance. A must read. I read an arc of the story and this is my review.
Once again, another fantastic book in the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado series! When Maria and her daughter Sofia escaped from her abusive relationship with a Mexican drug cartel leader, she would do anything to get her daughter to safety. When she reaches out to her friend JoJo, Venom is sent to help get her safely to the ranch. Their travels were long and treacherous but they developed a bond that was intense. This was an amazing story that sucked you in from the first page.
Venom and Maria's story was fast paced and extremely good. Their story will keep you at the edge of your seat. After his last mission, he got out and tried to make his way back into civilian life and that is not working out for him. Then Jake appears with an offer. He knows Venom's history. Maria is running from her current situation with her daughter, but she obviously needs help so she places a call out to a former military teammate for immediate help.
Ok, this story will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. This story is about Vincent, Maria and Sofie. Having to deal with the cartel can be pretty scary. Sofie is pretty amazing for a five year old girl. It's get kind of hairy at the end but who doesn't love a happy ending. The epilogue was just letting us know how happy the family is. FANTASTIC job Elle! I would recommend this book!
Too many inconsistencies for a smooth story, items that gave the story away, love this author but the stories are all being used over and over. Venom was against kids but yet fell for Sophia almost immediately, the ending was too smooth after the drama of the kidnapping. There is no way the town’s folks gave them info to kidnap the girls. Opposite what has been written before. Very disappointing.
Venom went through he'll on his last mission but surprise!! After trying 2 save someone in trouble is 1 thing but there was a surprise with a little girl with her. But it doesn't matter, when shit hits the fan things change in a man's soul. Things get really rich but can they get back what is lost 4 a small x? Read and find out. It would help others in the end when friends protect each other through anything they need 2 do.
This is the story of Venom and Maria Elena. It s an adventure as Maria Elena and her 5 year old daughter Sofia (whom you will fall in love with!) escape their abusive life with a drug kingpin and the cartel. Maria Elena calls her friend Jojo at the Lost Valley Lodge with whom she served in the Army. Don't pass on this book! Elle James has another winner!
