Tamar really struggled writing this bio, in part because it’s in third person, but mostly because she hasn’t decided whether she’s primarily a psychologist who loves writing, or a writer with a lifelong fascination with psychology.
She must have been someone pretty awesome in a previous life (past life regression indicated a Care Bear), because she gets to do both. Beginning her career as a youth worker, then a secondary school teacher, before becoming a school psychologist, Tamar helps children and teens to live and thrive despite life’s hurdles like loss, relationship difficulties, mental health issues, and trauma.
As lover of reading, inspired by books that sparked beautiful movies in her head, Tamar loves to write young adult romance. To be honest, it was probably inevitable that her knowledge and love of literature would translate into writing emotion driven stories of finding life and love beyond our comfort zones. You can find out more about Tamar’s books at www.tamarsloan.com
A lifetime consumer of knowledge, Tamar holds degrees in Applied Science, Education and Psychology. When not reading, writing or working with teens, Tamar can be found with her husband and two children enjoying country life on their small slice of the Australian bush. The driving force for all of Tamar’s writing is sharing and connecting. In truth, connecting with others is why she writes. She loves to hear from readers and fellow writers. [SPOILERS if you haven't read previous books in the series!]
As the king of the vampires Caleb has promised to strengthen them in order to establish their survival. Maddy is convinced that it will result in many innocent lifes being lost. As a vampire hunter she has an obligation to protect others against vampires, but she loves Caleb. Will their relationship survive when they're on opposite sides?
I found this book a bit weaker than the previous ones. Maddy and Caleb are trying to convince each other that their view on the whole situation is the right one, and it tends to be rather repetitive. When the book is over they still haven't solved anything, but there's a twist that turns everything upside down. I'm invested enough in the characters and the story to want to know how it will develop, but I really hope that Maddy and Caleb can move forward in the next book!
* I received an ARC from the author and I'm giving my honest review. *
Vampire Undefeated is the fourth book in this incredible saga. From the first moment, you read the first chapter, anxiety seizes you to know what will happen to the people you have become attached to. Maddy and Caleb have grown tremendously both as individual characters and in their relationship. They have to face decisions that test their relationship and in turn, reaffirm what they have, which for a moment made me suffer from the fights the main couple had to go through to get to where they are. I love Mason and Cora, they bring a lot of fluidity to the story. Like the previous books, mythology expands more and more and makes this world enriching, giving a twist to the story that surprises you. That ending all it does is want to read the next book to find out how the story ends. Definitely, this vampire story has been my favorite in recent times
This book picks up where the last one left off and I have to say that it took me a while to refresh my memory of the story so far. Madeline and Caleb are still on the hunt for The Cure and still in disagreement on what to do once they find it.
Caleb discovers some things about his aunt, Kenna, and is determined to fulfill her wishes. Meanwhile, someone is trying to bring a horrible evil back to Earth and the group has to try to stop it.
All in all, there was so much going on in the book that I had a hard time following it at times. I think if I had read the books closer together, the story might have flowed better. Also, a couple of my person pet peeves about the book are in this book. First of all, the book is divided by chapters titled between the two main characters. But, the POV is the same throughout the book, so I'm not sure why the chapters have to be listed as either "Madeline" or "Caleb". And, the POV is from a strange (and for me, hard to read) tense that I don't care for.
I enjoyed some of the story, but it seems like the author is trying too hard to bring in every magical thing she can think of, which makes for a very busy book.

this was another winner in the fourth book of the Keepers of the Chalice series, it had what I enjoyed from the third book. Tamar Sloan does a great job in telling the story and it was written really well. I was invested in the story and going through this world. I hope this series continues as I enjoyed this a lot and the characters.

Fantastic continuation of Maddy and Caleb and their struggle to be together while one is a hunter and one a Vampire. It remains hard to stay together and remain friends with all of their gang. Looking forward to completion of this excellent series.

Fun adventure and premise! Hunter Maddy and Vampire Caleb are supposed to be enemies, but they continue to work together for a greater good and for each other. They do have opposing viewpoints that cause issues between them, but they have that pull between them. Like the danger and action, and the mystical mythology elements. An entertaining series so far!
As always, Tamar amazed me! This story has so many twists, that keep surprising me. A lot of enemies are gathering for our heroes, but also a lot of friends. And what more twisted than Maddy and Caleb changing their roles? Can’t wait for the last book in series!

Unbelievable story that will have you binge reading to find out what could possibly happen next. The characters are superb and they take you into their world. Once you start reading, you realize how much they’ve changed. Absolutely impossible to not read it again.
This is a great read with alot of twists and turns you don't see coming. Caleb, Maddy along with friends and enemies are trying to stop chaos on earth. I would recommend this book.

The characters have grown with the suspense. Once started this book is very difficult to put down. This series has been really great and I am looking forward to the finale.
This is book four of the Keepers of the Chalice series and the main characters are on opposite sides of the battle, Maddy (Madeleine) a Hunter and also a descendant of Dracula himself and has gained Warlock powers from him, and Caleb, a former Hunter and part of the Order run by his aunt Kenna DeVoe, before being turned into a vampire as revenge and now becoming the unexpected King of Vampires. The Vampire Council seem to think he will be a puppet for them and follow their wishes, but he loves Maddy and wants peace between the Hunters and Vampires, the Order and the Council. Only by staying as the King can he control the actions of vampires and ensure they stay at the top of the food chain, with his desire to use the ‘cure’ to strengthen vampires, whilst Maddy is totally against that idea and only wants it used for those vampires who were turned against their will, like Caleb and her best friend Cora. The Order would love to use it to eradicate all vampires from their world, but Maddy just wants it used for good and can’t get Caleb to agree with her viewpoint. He has made promises to the Council that he needs to be able to meet, if he is to stay as King, if not, they will get rid of him and choose someone else to be their puppet. Caleb’s Aunt Kenna was long thought missing and dead, but news of possibly being alive makes Caleb go off the rails and try to find out more, rather than concentrate on his new role.
Malcolm Merrick and his cult members are still trying to kill Maddy and her friends, as well as wanting Caleb for their own reasons. The Chalice long mentioned in the series is now in Caleb’s control, meaning no vampires can be controlled by others, through its power, but an attempt to find his aunt and trusting Maddy’s judgement, soon leaves him losing one of his main hold over the Council and driving a huge wedge between the two! Caleb no longer believes he can trust Maddy, but he will be proved wrong in his accusation, but his insistence on keeping his promises to the Council and making vampires stronger, will force her further away from him and left wondering whether she could continue loving him when their ideas are so far apart. Can their friends work together when the chips are down and follow the plan, or will their own priorities pull them all apart and leave matters in disarray? It seems there are more parties in the mix than Caleb or Maddy could ever know, with Merrick’s plans being helped by very powerful people indeed, in an effort to raise the undefeatable who will consume the whole world in darkness! The tables have been turned and the final instalment of the series will certainly bring a lot of answers, but also lots of danger and questions of whether love or what is right, is truly worth fighting for! Caleb and Maddy have a whole new life to become used to, as the ultimate foes need to be stopped before their world is destroyed. I look forward to reading the next and last book of the series and can’t wait to see what will happen next! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
